After having such a horrible experience with a North Ridgeville, Ohio company passing as a "reputable" water mitigating company using 3 different names, it was refreshing to find MJM Construction for the restoration of the drywall, which the other company unnecessarily cut out in excess, and replacement of the paneling which was not damaged by very low level of water from the sump pump back-up.  Matt also had to paint the walls because of the excess drywall needlessly cut out of the north side of the basement wall.  Had that wall been cut as needed only 30" high by the disreputable company, the extra money needed for the wall paining would not have been necessary.  Matt did an excellent job of repair, and I was very pleased with his skill and fair pricing.

Quality work. Completed work the way we asked for it, i.e., placement of in-wall shelves, placement of electrical outlets, light switches, paint color/trim work, gas line for fireplace. No surprises, and work completed on time for a reasonable price. Matt is knowledgeable and skilled to complete the entire job. If you are looking for quality work for a reasonable price, I recommend MJM.

Shortly after the job was complete, the vinyl sleeve on one of the posts began to show an area where caulking was used to hide an approximate 12and quot; slit in the vinyl. I'm not sure if the caulking separation appeared due to the change in weather but regardless it became very noticeable. Matt was contacted and said he would order the piece from Home Depot and replace it. It took several months and many phone calls to Matt (he indicated that he was extremely busy or was having trouble with his phone or the order hadn't come in yet, etc.) until he finally completed the work. He was told at that time that the color of the replacement vinyl did not match the other vinyl he had installed but reassured my mother that the other vinyl had faded to some degree and the new piece would fade also. I didn't agree with this and quot;excuseand quot; he had given my mother because it was very apparent they were two different colors. Matt was contacted once again and said that it must have been Home Depot's fault for ordering the wrong color and he would contact them to find out. During this time he made no effort to contact my mother to advise...she again had to contact him numerous times even speaking with his wife. He finally returned the call and said the correct color was ordered and if she wanted it replaced it would be at her cost. I chose to visit Home Depot myself and spoke with the person at the contractor's desk that has dealt with Matt directly. She had a difficult time finding any order and of the samples she showed me, none seemed to match, leading me to believe that maybe he had used pieces parts to complete this job. This work was originally done in October 2010 and my mother last spoke with Matt in 2012 stating that he was coming out to finally complete the repair. As of August 2013 the repair has never been done. I had another company come out to give us an estimate and they found that the new posts Matt installed were not even secured to the porch...we are now under contract with them to have the job done right. I feel that because my mother is in her seventies and lives alone she's a bit more vulnerable. Of the estimates she was given, Matt had originally given her the best price and had mentioned he had done work for Dick Goddard, which of course made her feel she was making the right choice. It upsets me that he took advantage of her regardless of the numerous calls she had made in an effort to get this resolved. I guess he figured she would get tired of calling and eventually go away, which she did. I understand that Matt is just trying to run a business and provide for his family but if this job was too small for him or he didn't want to make right on the repair, then just say so. There was no need to string my mother along...she believed the whole time he was going to make it right and that never happened. After joining Angie's List and finding another contractor to correct the situation for my mother, I felt I was left with no alternative but to post this review.

They are great! I spent a lot when I finished my basement, probably $20,000.00. They provided us finished a basement, bathroom, kitchen and a few odd jobs. They are professional, reasonable and did a great work. I think they are outstanding to work with.

MJM was VERY thorough, from moving the appliances, removing trim, installing cement board, to finishing the project with a urethane grout that will need no maintenance/sealing down the road. I was very impressed at how the cement board was first glued, and then screwed down to the existing sub floor. Matt was very good about cleaning up at the end of each day, and was very professional throughout the project.
