They came out to snake and camera our sewer due to backing up and found that our exterior pipes were cracked due to tree roots. They told us they would be back out in a few week depending on weather but to replace the pipes and put in a back-flow pipe. As soon as they could they came out and did the work. They kept me updated on what was going . They are were friendly and professional. Would definitely use them again.

The woman said they would call in a few days with the estimate. I had to phone the company after a week had past. She told me she had to wait on other calls and would call me back. She called with an estimate and I said ok and never heard from this company again.

They came by and snaked the drain.

Service Provider Response

Dear [member name removed], I apologize for your confusion of the work to be completed, however, your contract was never signed and returned. A work authorization allows the work to be started. All work needs to be authorized, Mike's Excavating cannot do work that is not approved. Your original call was for camera work. Your camera work was scheduled and completed on the same day of your call. An evaluation was provided of the broken pipe system. Mike's Excavating responded promptly. Mike's Excavating explained the process and the remedy to fix the problem. As part of high standards and courtesy of service, Mike's Excavating made all of the necessary calls to the different city departments to inquire about the proper permits and information. Once the information was obtained, you were contacted by our offices. You then stated you would have to "get the money together and let us know". We were awaiting your call and signed paperwork. Once again I apologize for your confusion, however, all customers are required to have work orders authorized and signed prior to the work being scheduled and completed. Sincerely, Lisa Marquetant Mike's Excavating

They never returned calls
Description of Work
I have called Mikes Excavating at least three times this month, each time leaving very clear message of the reason for my call and a brief description of the work I needed to have done. No one returned any of my calls. I guess Mike's isn't interested, but they could have the courtesy to return a call !

They were wonderful. They came out last September to do the work and it costed us about $8500 in total. They were very good with letting you know exactly what they were doing and what was coming net. We also have driveway issues so they were very good about telling us what might be the best way to handle the plumbing. They were very nice people and they cleaned up after themselves. They put plywood sheeting down so that they didn't dig up the yard with the back hoe and the dump truck and they offered to dig our shrubs out to save our flowers.
Description of Work
I used Mike's Excavating for plumbing services. We had basement water issues and they had to replace the footer drains. So they had to dig around 2 sides of the house to do that and we had walls that they had to straighten for us because the water pressure bent them.

scheduled the appointment the week before for 11:00am; at 12:30pm, called and asked if anyone was going to come out; was told by Lisa she forgot her appt book at the office in the morning and therefore, forgot about the scheduled appt to give an estimate to replace storm sewer pipe under a driveway; stated she would be out within an hour; she and Mike came out, surveyed the driveway and sink hole due to the blockage of the sewer drain and stated an estimate would be sent out but allow extra days due to the holiday; allowed two weeks, no estimate, called and was told it was sent out but would send another one; waited again, called 3 weeks later, no estimate; called and was told she had the wrong address and would send it out immediately; to date, have not received an estimate!

At first I was not happy that my driveway had to be dug through. Not Mike's fault, he located the break acurately. But as it turned out, I do not have a mud area in my lawn that has to be repaired in the spring. I only have one block (section of concrete) that has to be replaced in the spring. I was lucky that my problem was limited to this area. My problem occurred the weekend before hurricaine Sandy. Despite the flood of calls, Mike took care of me on the Monday after hurricaine Sandy. I called on Monday (when rain from Sandy was just starting), had the line scoped on Wednesday, dug and repaired the following Monday. Mike almost started the job on Friday but that weekend was trick or treat and we didn't want an open excavation while that was going on. I was also lucky that my sewer was not totally blocked and backing up into the basement. All in all, good job. Thanks Mike and Lisa Also, utilities came and flagged their lines. If I had tried to guess where the sewer lines were, I would have guessed that they were in the same trench as the water supply line which ran directly to the street. I would have dug up most of the yard trying to find the lines.
Description of Work
House built in 1940. Lived in for 29 years. Problem with tree roots in sanitary sewer for 25 years. Would rent a snake every two years and clear from cleanout in basement. Problem became more frequent and couldn't get snake through pipe. Snake cutter head had gray clay on it. I had a broken pipe. Mike (& Lisa) came out and scoped the pipe. Ran video camera out to point where broken pipe was seen. Video head also had a locating sensor. Mike went to front yard and located point where video head had stopped. Recorded position and depth. My pipes did not go directly to the street. They had been laid in a somewhat diagonal direction that went under my driveway. Mike used a concrete saw to cut out one block from my driveway. Dug down and found sanitary and storm sewer lines (wasn't sure if I had both). Cleanouts for both lines had been covered over by driveway. Fixed broken pipe and scoped pipe to check for further problems. Had to dig past the storm sewer which was slightly above the sanitary sewer. Installed cleanouts on both pipes. I forget if both pipes had traps, but if they did, they were removed. Lisa explained the extensive permitting necessary (6?) and fees of $500 each for two of the permits. This is in a major urban city in northeast Ohio. Longest part of job was waiting for inspector and water department to 'jet' the line before hole could be filled. Very pleased with the job that was done. Going to allow fill to settle over winter and repair driveway in the summer, my responsibility. Mike explained that by code the dirt excavated from the hole had to be removed from the site and the hole was filled with a crushed gravel. When ready to replace concrete, will create access points to cleanouts in driveway.

All work was completed with professionalism from the administrative staff to the workers providing the service. They arrived on time, supervisor was on hand to manage/supervise, they took the time to review and explain so that the customer understands the whole process (step by step) to include what we need to do after the service is completed. The service was completed in a timely manner (before the deadline). After completion, they shared pictures on the process. The contract was clear, they offered reassurance that they have Workman's Compensation Insurance and if there were any extra cost they would get our approval first. All materials and workmanship was guaranteed. Customer service was excellent. They have been in business for 20 years and have a good working relationship with the City of Cleveland enabling them to get work permits and inspections done in an orderly and timely fashion. I am grateful and appreciate there style of workmanship.
