Overall, a responsive team that we would use again.
The initial stain did not seem to hold up well, probably because the deck hadn't been stained in two or three years.  The team came back out and applied additional stain.
We appreciated their responsiveness even when it wasn't their fault that the deck hadn't been stained recently.

Deck Rescue did a very nice job.  I power washed the deck myself in June.  Deck Rescue did some touch up power washing the week before staining in late July.  Before cleaning and staining the deck was in pretty rough shape.  Afterwards its looks great!  Deck Rescue kept us informed as to when they could start (they have been slowed by a rainy summer) and completed the job very quickly once they did get started (~4 hrs to stain deck).  I am very happy with the final product and they were very competitively priced.  I would definitely call them again.

iFantastic.  We have a  huge two level deck  that abuts a vinyl sided screened in porch and vinyl siding on the house.  There is lattice on the sides of the deck.  We had Deck Rescue two years ago to pressure wash and stain the deck.  They charged the same amount as last time.  They also did a picnic table and chair.  The weather was un-cooperative but they always called to say weather they could come and when they'd be here.  We live on a well and the pressure washing had two be done in two operations because they ran out of water.  The three men who worked had to remove a heavy piece of furniture from the deck.    Two days after the pressure washing the three stained the deck.  They were incredibly careful in both operations not to trample all the plants that were growing along side the deck or to spray them with stain.  They also  were careful not to get any stain on the siding,  They held up fabric paint shields and painted the edges by hand.   They were always very cheerful, prompt and professional.  The job looks fantastic.  We had company last week and everyone commented on our beautiful deck and wanted to know who did it.  This is one of the best companies we've dealt with and they do a terrific job.  Their  price is reasonable. (We own my daughter's house in Columbus and were charged the same amount in Columbus by a company there to do her deck  which is  less than half the size of ours.

I contacted  Deck Rescue the end June 2013 because of its A rating by users of Angie's List.  Rod responded promptly, came to my house to inspect the pergola, then wrote an estimate stating the work to be done and the cost (the cost stated in this review also included power washing and sealing a concrete sidewalk leading to my house).  He explained in detail how he would cover the surrounding landscaping and patio furniture to protect them from the cleaner and stain, how he applied the stain and what to expect from it.  Rod told me he was booked until mid July and I told him to add my pergola to his schedule.  Because of the rainy weather we experienced in July, Deck Rescue ran behind schedule and couldn't get to my job until the first week of August.  However, Rod kept in constant contact with me telling me where my job was on his schedule due to the weather delays.  It was definitely worth the wait.  My pergola looks like new!  Rod was always professional, courteous, prompt and a good, hard worker.  I will definitely call Deck Rescue again and highly recommend it to everyone.

TERRIFIC RESULTS.......We give Rod and his crew at DECK RESCUE an A PLUS Rating!
Rod was very prompt, courteous. and professional when he came for the estimate.
We have large, two story, pressure treated wooden deck, with peeling residue of previous coating. Big problem!
I explained that the previous person had applied the wrong stain and that it was peeling badly. It was more like a paint.  I needed him to tell me what our options were short of replacing the whole deck.  He suggested that they come and try out a stripper to remove the previous product in a non conspicuous place. (This was BEFORE we even signed a contract to do the work!)  We were very happy to find someone who would work with us!  The stripper worked!!!
We then, contracted with Rod at DECK RESCUE to do the work at the quoted price.  All the work was completed by the agreed upon date.  All the workers were very courteous. They covered all my plants and everything underneath the deck and removed all the heavy furniture, before starting.  The head person asked for my approval before they started applying the new stain.  The whole experience was pleasant.  We will definitely recommend them to anyone we know that needs this work done.
We love our "NEW" deck.  We couldn't be happier with the results.  Thank you ROD & DECK RESCUE.  We are now enjoying our time on our deck.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Toman

From calling, to scheduling to arriving when planned.  Every contact was professional and prompt.  They came out on a day when the leaves were still falling to paint my decks...three of them with one running almost around the entire home so I was very concered that we may wind up with leave marks or even leaves stucks in the paint job. But somehow the job came out perfectly!  I was so pleased with all three decks.  They did a great job.

Deck Rescue special pricing to strip ,restore and stain my deck. They
did a good job but the pricing was somewhat misleading. The entire deal
only saved me 25 dollars over their standard pricing.

What a great experience!  I wish all of the contractors I work with were this customer-focused!  Ron called within 24 hours of my Angie's list purchase and was in constant communication until the deck work was completed today.  He let me know about a schedule change due to rain and I never wondered when the job would be completed.  The finished job is exactly what I was hoping for.  I am really happy with them and will definitely recommend them to friends in the future.  Great job!

We had our deck refurbished late last summer and didn't have time to stain/paint before it got cold. When we saw the special from Deck Rescue on Angies List, we knew it was a sign to get it done. I filled out the estimate request form on their website and got a call back from Rod Graber the next day. Rod was very professional and listened to what I needed before offering services. Rod explained that the special included the deck, ther was an additional charge for the steps, railings and lower side skirting. Rod quoted a price that was fair, and he could start the project the following Monday. We also have a pergola that I had installed summer before last that had not yet been stained. I called Rod and asked to have the pergola included as well, that was no problem, he said and gave me a quote. Rod arrived at 9 am on Monday and pressure washed the deck and pergola, at the last minute, I asked if they could also wash ans stain the foundation to our 10x12 shed to match the pergola, again, Rod said no problem. Rod and his assistant arrived on Tuesday and had completed all the painting/staining in about 4.5 hours. Everything looked GREAT! Rod even stained the 4x4's that line out gravel deck area at no charge. It really ties all the wood features together. What a great job, I would highly recommend Rod and Deck Rescue and I will definately be using them again. Thank Rod!

. Two men arrived in the afternoon to power wash the deck. I had to leave, but when I returned after a couple of hours, the deck was CLEAN and looked very good.We were not home when they came back the next day; when we returned, after being gone about 5 hours, the deck was completely finished, and looked fantastic! There were no smears of stain on the house or the bushes near the deck - everything was very neat. They had obviously gone to some pains to make sure that the surrounding areas were kept clean; it was a very professional job.As an extra note, if the price looks high, our deck is 800 square feet,  with wood skirting all around, so it was no small task! We would not hesitate to use them again, and recommend them highly!

We contacted two deck contractors for estimates but we were so impressed with Deck Rescue that we cancelled the second person.  The finish on our deck was worn and mildewed, we hadn't done anything with it for years. We had hoped to have it power-washed and then sealed  with a clear finish.  Rod tested part of the deck with the power-washer and could not get all of the old finish off so he said that the deck would need  a colored deck stain.  The uprights were still in good condition and we had some of the paint left from years ago when my husband had treated the deck.  Rod said it was a quality product and he would buy the same product to match the color we had previously.  He told us he was backlogged with jobs but would get to us at the end of April or first week in May.  He also agreed to powerwash and treat our picnic table.     The first Monday in May Rod called and said he'd do the deck later in the week. Right on schedule early in the morning, he and a co-worker arrived  to powerwash the deck.  We told them we lived on a well and they might run out of water,  Halfway through the powerwashing they did in fact fun out of water.  They  returned several hours later in late afternoon to finish the powerwashing.      The following day,  even earlier than scheduled, Rod and his co-worker arrived and started staining the deck with a solid redwood stain.  Attached to the deck is our vinyl sided screen porch and back of the house, and we were concerned about the stain getting on it.  The co-worker hand-painted all along the edge of the deck and not a drop of paint got on the siding.  Along the side of the deck we have extensive gardens and lattice, both men were very careful not to trample any of my plants and they got very little paint on them.  We had an adirondack chair in the back yard next to the picnic table and they power-washed and stained both the table and chair although the contract only called for the table to be done.  At one point the new gallon of paint they had bought did not exactly match what was already painted so they returned it to the store and got it remixed.  Despite all the extras (running out of water and having to return later in the day, doing the chair, returning the paint and redoing some of the deck) there was no additional charge.  Both men were extremely polite, professional and did a great job, the deck, table and chair look wonderful.  We highly recommend them. o

It went well.  Highly recommended.  We live south of Dayton so I was hesitant to contact the Litchfield Ohio company.  However the young man from Deck Rescue operates his own franchise that services the greater Dayton area.  It was a good experience.
