The sewer line was installed incorrectly and fell apart all over my basement floor. I had to terminate the contractor due to time restraints and faulty work and various projects not completed as stated in contract. We had asked John to provide the license and permits and he was not able to provide that. We started pulling our own permits and doing the work our selves after we found out that we were lied to. Once we terminated him, we started finding evidence of fraud due to him not doing even half of the things he stated he had done. We attempted to get a home loan and found out we had a mechanic's lean on the house. He stated we owed him the rest of the draw money and that the job was complete. We are currently in process of proving that with legal measures.
Description of Work: Excavate for a driveway, base gravel the driveway, connect our water and sewer lines, electric and gas, excavate foundation, place plumbing in basement, hydro-seed the lawn. I hired John Sherman to perform various jobs. Stated they would have work done within two weeks, the project took months and still not complete. I had attorney come up with terms and conditions. The contractor agreed and stated he was bonded and licensed, and the fact he lived two bocks away lead me to believe the results would be as agreed. We dispersed a $40,000 contract in 4 disbursements of $10,000. The more we started getting into it, I noticed the contractor changing the plans from what the originals stated. John gave me various suggestions which made no sense. It took about 2 months to get block work up, and the entire project did not get completed.
