The service provider arrived 40 mins late (9:40 am) and began to throw a football in my front lawn with his helper. I had my front door open and neither person came to the door. I had to go outside to greet them so they would know I knew they were at my house. The service provider and helper began removing carpet from my living room/dinning room area. After less than 2 hours at 11:20 am, I felt the temperature in the house change. The service provider and his helper then left unannounced for a break. I noticed my thermostat had be turned down 6 degrees from 74 to 68 without communication or my permission. The two guys returned about 45 minutes later. A third man showed up and began removing carpet from the upstairs hallway area. I noticed they had began laying the new LVP before they left. When they returned, I asked the service provider why there was a gap between the LVP and the wall trim. He said he assumed I was putting quarter round trim to cover the gap. I said this wasn't what we had discussed on the phone when discussing the project. He apologized and offered to find a caulk that would match. I declined. I also asked about the transition pieces for each other areas. The provider told me he would pay for the living room strip closest to my front door. Around 2 hours after they returned the first time the 3 men left again. They were gone for over an hour for what I presume was lunch. Later, I found taco tortillas thrown in my front yard. The LVP floor installation (in living room/dining room) continued while I remained upstairs with my children. At around 5 pm the provider communicated the three of them needed to leave again because he did not have the correct staples for installing the carpet on the stairs or upper hallway. They were gone for over an hour and when they returned the passenger in the front seat was sleeping and the service provider was just sitting his truck. My husband went out to greet them and they quickly came out of the vehicle to talk. The service provider communicated that he went to 3 stores and could not find the correct staples. At that point it was well after 6pm. Since the work could not continue, they service provider had to leave. They were paid $600 out of the 1,000 agreed upon price with the promise of returning on Monday Oct 29. They left dangerous tack strips exposed on every stair tread. My children and I had to carefully go up and down the stairs all weekend with fear of getting stabbed in our feet. The service provider returned Monday morning to finish the carpet installation. He brought a different person with him that I hadn't seen on Saturday to nail in the quarter round in the living/dining room area. I had to personally acquire and purchase the quarter round because the service provider failed to honor our original agreement of removing the base trim. I also kept noticing little things with the carpet that didn't look right. I inquired about why the carpet didn't come as far in my bedroom door as the other 2 bedroom doors. The provider admitted he measured incorrectly and offered to put a rubber transition strip on the door. I didn't like that idea so I said just tuck the carpet under and I guess it'll just be short then. It exposed the wood floor that wasn't stained (that the previous carpet had covered). He then cut the stair carpet incorrectly as well and told me he had to add 1 inch pieces on the side of each stair tread. My instincts kept telling me this wasn't right. I had to go to work so my husband paid the service provider the other $400 that was owed. When I returned home from work that evening my children informed me that the bathroom door upstairs could not close. The service provider needed wood from my garage to put under the carpet by the bathroom door. He brought the carpet nearly into the bathroom. Every closet in my upstairs area had raw edges where the carpet ended. I later realized the service provider never removed any of my baseboard air vents and cut the LVP floor around them. There is also a chip in the corner of one of the LVP boards in the middle of the floor and a different board has a piece sticking up. I am beyond disappointed with this work. I have not contacted the service provider about fixing it because at this point I feel he is not knowledgeable enough. If he was, it would have been done correctly the first time. Does this service provider carry insurance for the work that he is doing in people's homes??? I have called and scheduled 2 separate contractors from other companies to assess the damage and what it will cost for me to remove the carpet and reinstall as well as fix the damaged LVP.

"Thank you for providing these details. I understand your frustration with the carpet and LVP installation, and I sincerely apologize for the issues you've experienced. First off I did not have to add one inch strips anywhere on the carpet. There was one spot that was slightly short in the master doorway. And there was a huge marble transition going into the bathroom that I removed for free and tried to reinforce the area to make it acceptable for you. Secondly I should’ve charged $1,000 just to move your furniture and do the demo. Third the lvp was installed 100% correctly there were zero issues during installation you are required to leave a 1/4 inch gap around baseboards for expansion because it is a floating floor you had a hard time making any decisions about the floor overall product looked amazing. I paid for both transitions into the living room and dining room was never refunded. 400 sq ft of lvp and you found 1 chipped corner ( possibly due to cheap material) that you won’t even allow me to fix I’m well certified to do flooring 6+years in business and yes I am completely insured! Sorry that me and my helper got to your house at 9 AM and threw a football in the front yard for a little bit. We were warming up waking up our bodies. Didn’t think that was a big deal. Also a piece tortilla in the grass really like I was feeding the birds not littering its food."

Ceramic Tile Service

Things went fine at first. Tyler and assistant showed up promptly, were courteous and seemed capable. They quoted and returned the following day, completing 95% of the job. They used caulk grout to repair shower tile in master bath instead of powder grout I already had, but that wasn't a big deal. Once dried, it looked almost the same. Before leaving Tyler informed a touch up application was recommended and said they'd be back the following day (Friday). Once the caulk dried, it was evident a second layer of caulk was necessary, as there were many gaps in the first coat, leaving an incomplete seal. Water in the gaps would eventually wreck it and it would have to be done again. This is where is where things went south. I didn't hear from Tyler the final day about finishing the job. When trying to reach him, I received a text saying he had a family emergency and would be over as soon as he could. No mention of what day. No problem I figured, things happen. Fast forward to monday and again I had to contact him, with him giving more details of personal issues. I'm a tolerant person and understand unexpected events, but a full week passed then ten days and still no mention of return date or finishing the job. All the while, my household was unable - and currently still unable - to use our master shower, which we normally use daily. Almost two full weeks have now passed and he never came back to complete the job. This is after already being paid! He was not proactive at all in scheduling a completion date, just multiple vague assurances of getting it done sometime. Poor communication. It would've taken all of 15-20 minutes to do, could've stopped by on the way to other jobs, but he didn't make it any kind of priority. This is also after receiving a $50 tip. Insult to injury. I didn't have to do that. I am disappointed in selecting this pro and how this turned out. Having to walk from one side of the home to the other to use the guest bath shower again and again makes me regret hiring him. I need a job done right, and in at least a somewhat timely manner. Family emergencies are one thing, but how about finishing what you started. Left us hanging. I had other bigger jobs I could've hired him for, but after this experience forget it. Now I have to pay another pro to fix his mess. Refund please.
