Part of their service was an energy audit. Once the audit was completed, the salesman, Larry Osborn, proudly proclaimed we qualified for their "energy savings guarantee", they would guarantee lower utility bills. They use high pressure sales methods to get you to sign the first time they see you. We were given a quote and then a discount from the home remodelers show. It was more than we anticipated and wanted to talk about it but that price was good that day only. So, he made a phone call and got a special "do it when they had time available" price from the owner, which was 50% less. Based on the "guarantee" we signed to have the work done and this reduced price we signed to have the work done. The insulation was put in April 16, 2017. We then pulled our energy usage history from the utility websites so we could see what kind of savings we were getting. In December we noticed, I know this will seem unbelievable but, we weren't saving anything. We called to ask why and left a message. After a week, no call back, so we called again. 4 or 5 days later after no call back, called again and also called the salesman. Finally got call backs in the afternoon. We're told they would be out on January 3 at 4:00. They were a no show. We filed a BBB complaint. They called and set up a time for January 5. The salesman came out and checked a few things. We showed him our energy usage spread sheet to illustrate lack of savings. They sent a crew out to check further on January 12. No explanation except everything looks fine. It is now March 4 and we have heard nothing further from them. It should and must be noted that in order to get a fair comparison we left our thermostat settings exactly where they have been for the past 15+ years and that our usage record only showed Ccf and Kwh along with the average temperature each month, not dollars. Before you call this company, or hire them, review their BBB reviews and complaints. They do not stand behind or honor their guarantee despite proof there is no savings. They are terrible about returning phone calls and like the excuse "we are really busy" for not getting back to you.

Do not even consider using this company. Please don't make the mistake my family did! My husband had found IES at a small town festival in Waterville earlier this summer. We wanted to find a company willing to help us with energy costs and would be able to give us an honest review of the layoff of our home including window and doors in order to help us determine what needed to be done for long term savings.
I will say that the first meeting was with a sales gentlemen. He was very approachable and polite, but he was unsure of exactly how he could save us money or what would be needed in order to make our home more cost efficient. and wanted to bring back the owner for further review.
Our second meeting was with the same sales gentleman and Ryan Buck, who introduced himself as the the owner. He did review our concerns and the property and again both gentlemen were very approachable and polite. By the end of the sales pitch they used the same tactic as all the other reviewers stated, starting off with an astronomical price in our case of $6700, and lowering it to $4700, with a guarantee of a reduction of our electric/heating bill or they pay it for a year, etc etc.
We explained to Ryan at the time that we would need to finance the job if done immediately (july) but could pay in cash if we waited until Oct.... pushing to get the deal done, I finally decided to finance it on my own, and we could pay it off to the finance company in Oct. So a third meeting was then scheduled to sign paperwork and provide information such as my SS# and DOB for financing. DO NOT EVER DO THIS WITH THIS COMPANY. WORST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER MADE!!
I completed the financing paperwork and signed documents, and was told that I would be contacted later that week with some options of banks and financing. Two weeks went by and I never did hear from the company about those banks or options, and July 11th came and the crew showed up to do the work. They again were nice gentlemen, did the work - but when we checked it before they left they had only blew it into a measurement of R44, R47 is what we were told it would be blown in at, and when my husband asked the crew they stated that their R44 is equivalent to an R47... My husband said he would call Ryan, and they headed to the door. Once at the front door the one of the workers turned to my husband and myself and asked for the credit card that was sent to us to pay for the work.
1.) What credit card? I NEVER applied to a credit card, nothing was ever stated to me or my husband about a credit card, and I was shocked... who finances home repairs with a credit card.
I was shocked and confused at this point and explained to the worker that if indeed a credit card was opened and sent to us that we most likely shredded whatever envelope it came in, as that was common practice for us. He said he would go back to the office and have someone contact us about it to get a new one sent.
Within days I was called by both Ryan and the sales guy who asked me which company the credit card was through - THEY DIDN"T EVEN KNOW WHO THEY HAD APPLIED TO IN MY NAME!! They had no record of it. Which instantly made me sick to my stomach. I pulled my credit report as a last resort to find out what in the world was going on only to find that not only was there a credit card opened in my name and mailed to their business address, but also that my credit had been run by their company over 8 times in 2 days in attempt to get a new credit card sent. This was only the beginning as I called the creditor about the card and found out that it had been sent to IES's business address, activated, and already used for multiple purchases around town. Currently the card has been canceled and the creditor is working with my attorney to separate any liability on me for these charges.
I have since filed police reports and attempted to contact IES. Instead of them being concerned about the fraud, lack of integrity, or poor service, they demanded full payment, calling us daily and finally sending our 'lack of payment' to someone up in Michigan. (Remember we only did the work immediately because it was being financed as we did not have the $$ upfront until October since we are in sales and receive our commission checks them.)
I have written IES a check out of my 401K to stop the constant harassment and am now working with my attorney's to clean up this mess. Our electricity bill has since increased trumping their guarantee.
Sadly IES has offered NO remediation or apologies for the issues at hand and is a company I strongly urge anyone to stay far far away from!!
