Absolutely Horrible Experience – Regret Ever Building with Memmer Building with Memmer Homes was a complete nightmare. It’s honestly laughable that I had to go out of pocket to buy and coordinate a specific range I wanted—fighting tooth and nail to include it—only to now see that same range being used in other houses they’re building. Funny how it’s acceptable now that they chose it. From day one, Jeff made big promises before signing the contract and followed through on none of them. Our “custom” home ended up being a constant fight to avoid the cookie-cutter choices he pushed. Anything different was met with resistance, eye rolls, or flat-out refusal. He was argumentative, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout the process. We had broken light fixtures that were never reimbursed. Measurement issues that we discovered—and instead of accountability, Jeff had a full meltdown. The custom front doors were another disaster. They weren’t covered during wind, snow, or rain before being stained, which led to water and weather damage. After the original designer was fired, Jeff had the doors stained the wrong color and refused to fix or replace them. I caught the mistake too late, and now we’re stuck with two different shades that don’t match. When I brought it up, the painter Mitch was rude, dismissive, and literally said, “too bad,” because sanding them would be “too much work.” Totally unacceptable and wildly unprofessional. To top it off, our designer was fired while 9 months pregnant, and the new designer has been recycling ideas from previous work and passing them off as her own. No originality, no integrity—just damage control and shortcuts. She even stole my designs and is now using them to make herself look good. Jeff has actually gone as far as calling us and several other clients “crazy”—which is laughable considering many of us have talked, compared notes, and all had eerily similar, awful experiences. The common denominator isn’t the homeowners—it’s Jeff. This was the most stressful and disappointing experience we’ve ever had. Jeff Memmer is, in my opinion, a narcissistic and dishonest builder who shouldn’t be in charge of a lemonade stand, let alone someone’s dream home. And if you don’t want to just take my word for it, talk to other people who’ve built with him—see what their experiences were like. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else

Although the subs were great, I feel that the owners themselves are not honest, do not return phone calls, and are not an advocate for you. We were told that air conditioning was impossible in the new kitchen and great room due to the age of the house and the boiler heating AFTER a price for air conditioning was agreed upon. We had already dealt with a contractor that had a heating and cooling company out to the house to map out the cooling and knew that it was not impossible. My husband had to leave work early almost every day to make sure things were being done properly. Many corners also were attempted to be cut and caught by their lead carpenter, an excellent worker. I would not hire them again to be my contractors. 6 weeks after the project was supposed to be done, I still have people trickling in to finish small projects.
