Ralph Rhodes Custom Homes and Remodeling

My experience with Ralph was poor due to his lack of communication regarding increasing project costs until it was too late to adjust the scope. When he refused to discuss or take any responsibility for the significant overage, I withheld the final payment (~2% of project cost) at which point he placed a lien on my home. When I attempted to contact him to discuss, he refused to return calls, emails, and texts. I did not expect everything about the project to go smoothly. However, I did expect to work through a discrepancy in a professional manner. That was not the case. There are many options for custom builders...I wish I would have chosen any other one.

Ralph went over the work before and after to make sure that you were satisfied with the job that was done.He asked if I was satisfied with one coat of paint on the ceiling and I told him that it looked like it needed a second coat.So they applied another coat and looked  just right.

Florida room ceiling repair (sanding & joints retaped) went well. Ralph asked me to check the ceiling after it was painted

to see if we were satisfied.Thought that it needed another coat of paint & he agreed,doing it again.The driveway they repaired the cracked concrete (filling & grinding down the rough surface).They also put down a concret sealant to protect it from the elements (rain ,salt,ice,ect.).Ralph also filled the expansion joints that had eroded away over time with a flexable / permanent chalk. He made clear what he was doing & why.Also showing me how it was done & what materials I might need to fix any future problems.After the work was completed we went over everything that they had done before he (Ralph) wouid take any payment.We felt that his company wanted us to be satisfied with all the work that was done.

Ralph designed walkway and made suggestions based on what are interests and needs were.  Work was started and completed on dates as promised.  Ralph and crew worked well around rain and stayed well on task.

Ralph was very helpful in helping me pick out colors for my condo. Since this work was part of a larger remodel he even met me at the hardware store to ensure paint was mixed correctly and he painted several swatches on various walls (while I was at work) so I could see them when I got home. One thing - if you want a specific paint type like flat, egg shell, semi-gloss be sure to specify or you'll get all flat on your walls which isn't great in a kitchen or bathroom.

I purchased a condo built in 1950 that needed the hardwood floors refinished. I have a very small kitchen and Ralph suggested I install new hardwood (to match) in the kitchen which would help make the space look continuous and not so small and chopped up. I agreed and no one (even me) can tell the difference between the 60-year-old floor and the new one. It took only 1 week to complete, including a fresh coat of stain and I am VERY pleased!

It went very well. Would work with him again.

Given the extensive scope of the remodel, I couldn't have asked for a more prompt, reliable and courteous crew throughout this project. The scope of the project essentially turned out to be like building a new home from the ground up since very little of the original building was left intact (due to long term neglect and deterioration). The scope of this project felt overwhelming to me at times, but Ralph always made it seem easy and there was no issue that came up during the course of the work that could not be fixed satisfactorily and quickly. I really enjoyed working with Ralph and his crew. Ralph is on the job every day and is very good at explaining what the team is going to be working on that day, and what to expect over the next few days. He was always true to his word. He built up a lot of credibility with me on this project as the information he provided me with was typically right on the mark. I soon developed a great comfort level working with Ralph and knew that he was going to take good care of the project and of any concerns I might have. To make the project more challenging, the majority of the work took place during the coldest part of the winter. In an unheated space and with a lot of the work taking place outside, the project took on an extra layer of discomfort and difficulty. Ralph and his team maintained a high level of reliability and performance despite the weather. Finally, the quality of the work is excellent. Well built and compliant with all the latest building industry standards, I feel confident that the work will stand the test of time.

The whole project went very smoothly. Ralph returned our phone calls quickly and he started the project when he said he would and we had a patio by Memorial Day weekend. His crew was very professional and they kept the yard tidy from day to day. Great job!

Everything went well. Ralph did good work for a fair price. I was majorly impressed that he returned, free of charge, and reinstalled the tile flooring after it had started to crack. It was quite evident that he truly cared about his customer's satisfaction.

We have a very large concrete driveway (it is as wide as a road) that is shared with a neighbor, so this was a very large job. We were not sure what was the proper thing to seal it with and we wanted it to last.  Ralph has done other work for us (built our shop) and the neighbor, so we knew who to go to. He does beautiful, professional  work and sees to the smallest detail at great prices.  You will not be disappointed!!!

Ralph came to my house to install a transfer switch next to my fuse box for when I loose power. He worked with me to find the right one for me (did I want a 6 circuit vs a 10 circuit). He asked me to have the transfer box sent to him in order for him to make sure all the
parts were there and to make the install smoother (excellent idea). Ralph had me prioritize what I wanted to be able to power in my house off the generator so he knew which breakers to wire. When he wired the transfer switch he clearly label what each breaker was running. Once he had the transfer box hooked up, he went above and beyond what I could have asked. He set my portable generator up (added oil and gas and wired a custom extension cord to run from the house to the generator). He has made this so simple for me to use! This was huge for me personally because now I know it is ready to go for when I need the generator. He made this as simple as pulling the generator out of the garage, plug it into the house, and start the motor. Thank you Ralph!

All of the jobs completed were very professionally completed and neatly done. The estimates were provided very quickly, within a 24 hour period, and the jobs were started and completed very soon after I accepted the estimates. I would highly recommend the work of Ralph Rhodes, Jr., as well as his father Ralph Rhodes (I had Ralph Rhodes, Sr.'s company repair my stone foundation walls--terrific job also!).
