It became obvious after a couple of months that the initial installation was poorly done. The adjustment of the new spring mechanism was performed poorly, which resulted in uneven amounts of torque applied to the new door I had previously allowed him to install. As his warranty period is brief, I had no choice but to call him back for repairs - the old opening mechanism was loud and slow as well, so I offered to let him replace it during the repair of the work he'd done recently (stupid, stupid in retrospect). It has been ONE MONTH and he has still not shown up. Repeated calls from my wife and myself resulted in nothing more than excuses about parts being back-ordered, etc, which we would certainly understand, if they were a special order item (believe me, they're not). Despite repeated attempts to schedule the repair, He NEVER CALLED TO UPDATE US on the status of the repair after the initial call (every single incident of contact made was initiated by us - never returned a single call - never). When we did answer our calls, he would say, incredulously "don't tell me my guy isn't there!". It's obvious he didn't even know where his crew was, and could have cared less, based on the (now apparent) lack of urgency in addressing our concerns. I have never, ever, attempted to work with someone as unprofessional, unresponsive, and comprehensively irresponsible as Kenny Steele and his company. He played me for a complete chump, and I was a total fool for continuing to count on him. I'm only left to think that my repeated displays of flexibility and understanding were interpreted as an opportunity for him to put other jobs in front of mine. ONE MONTH from the point of contact and not a single call, apology, or explanation - or any subsequent attempt by him to make the situation right. I see that he has many positive ratings here, which will certainly make mine seem as an outlier - but believe me, sending any business this company's way is a big, big mistake. As many of the homes in our neighborhood were built around the same time, many residents are seeing their equipment fail around the same time - and due to my experience with Kenny Steele (which has also been witnessed by many of my neighbors), I am advising anyone requiring this type of work to be done to AVOID THIS COMPANY. There are many responsible, thoughtful small businesses that perform this work - you needn't choose this one.
