Thompson Home Improvement

Mike Thompson and his team did substantial exterior work on our large Victorian home in Wilmington, Ohio, in the Summer of 2017, and we have been extremely satisfied with the high quality, the speed, and the very reasonable cost of the work. We moved into our house in the Fall of 2016, and it needed substantial work. There were large holes rotted out of several places on the eaves, which was allowing birds to enter our attic and causing the gutters to be non-functional. The house also had a paint job that was nearly fifteen years old, and desperately needed a new coat on the entirety of the exterior. Mike let us know that the work on the eaves would be a substantial undertaking because the box gutters themselves had mostly deteriorated. The rate he offered us for the work, however, was much, much lower than two box gutter specialists from the Cincinnati area, and it quickly became clear that we would benefit from someone who knew the area and had worked on many similar homes in the city (as it turned out, Mike’s dad had actually worked on this house when it was temporarily converted into apartments a few decades ago—and that he was responsible for preserving the house’s awesome pocket doors!). Despite several rain delays, Mike and his team had the job done within a few weeks, and the eaves looked like new (after having previously looked like they belonged on an abandoned house). In addition to the gutter work, Mike and his team also did an absolutely fantastic paint job on the entire exterior. We were interested in an authentic polychrome Victorian paintjob for the house, and they more than delivered. With our permission, the team got creative in their work, and we are glad they did. The exterior details of the home (columns, frieze, door) were painted to make them “pop,” where previously many of the embellishments would have been unnoticeable to passersby. We’re not the only ones satisfied with the job: we have had literally dozens of neighbors and other Wilmington residents tell us that they are delighted by the updates—and that the house is once again one of their favorites in the entire city (and if you know Wilmington, you know there are a lot of great houses in this town). Not only was Mike’s original work excellent, but he will soon be returning to patch up a couple of spots that need minor repairs, a service that we’re very grateful for. I know Mike is proud of the work he did on this house, and he should be. We truly live in a stunning house, and we have Thompson Home Improvementto thank for that.

It went really well. It took a little longer than we expected, but it was well worth it. The crew was wonderful to work with and very respectful. They were very timely in responding to my messages and calls. They always showed up on time and when the job was complete, they cleaned everything up really well. Mike are crew were just wonderful!  I LOVE my new kitchen!  It's beautiful, efficient and organized! Mike knew the best place for high end cabinets at low prices.  The job was done as fast as possible, and limited my suffering!  He was meticulous installing the cabinets and getting everything to be level and match up.  All my new appliances were flawlessly installed and worked first time around, his crew sure know what they are doing!  Mike and his crew are very easy to work with and they make an effort to make living in a home under construction easier. 

He put in a new tile floor and new cabinets and new counter tops.  All new appliances as well.   He reworked all the electrical for the new appliances and outlets.  He put in some tile back splashes as well.   He reworked my walk in pantry and added a door.  He put bead board ceiling in the kitchen and in the pantry.  He also put in recessed lighting pendant lights in the kitchen.  He also did the plumbing for the new sink, dishwasher, refrigerator and garbage disposal.  Mike and his crew were punctual, outgoing, efficient, and knowledgeable.  All the high end appliances worked after he installed them.  Mike came up with some great solutions to some of the design problems.

Mike and crew were great!  Work was done in timely manner with a minimum of inconvenience to us, the home owners.  The bath is now beautiful!  Mike came up with the best plans to get us what we wanted with the least expenditure of money.  He was very creative.  The quality of the work done is the best, I couldn't ask for anything to be improved upon.

Mike and his crew are the best!  They did a beautiful paint job which was labor intensive as I was going from a darker color to a lighter color.  He had the know how to select the proper paint to cover both brick and vinyl siding, and he hunted down the matching sized siding to repair some holes in the old.  They power washed everything before painting.  They replaced all the exterior lighting fixtures:   5 on the front porch, 2 motion detectors on the back and end of the house, 2 small lights at the doors, and added a wireless doorbell!  He replaced all exterior doorknobs and dead bolts.  They all showed up on time every day, and considering the amount of work, got it all done in a very short time.  I highly recommend this company, they are courteous and qualified.

Mike and his team arrived early and were very professional and knowledgeable.  Mike was very accurate with his materials cost and labor estimates.  I had many small repairs around my house and property that needed to be done and Mike put just as much time, thought and effort into this "punch-out list" or small job as any bigger job he has done (e.g. build house).  During Mike's repair work he pointed out some areas that he felt needed attention and provided me with options to consider (e.g. did not just give most expensive option).  I was very grateful for Mike's honesty and "code" knowledge about electrical work as I will have him out again to do a couple more jobs around my property.  As we know small repairs/jobs left unattended can turn into big headaches and $'s later.  Mike has great vision regarding home improvements and sees things the average Joe may not.  I am very happy with Mike's performance, his team, knowledge level and overall demeanor.  He was a pleasure to have and I look forward to having him out to do work around my place again.  Thanks to Mike and Angie's list otherwise I would probably still be looking for a contractor without them!

He did a great job!  He fixed areas that I had not realized needed fixing.  He showed up on time and had his guys on the job too.  He has some great ideas about fixing problem areas and I plan to be using his expertise again and again.  His prices are very affordable.

This work was done for a rental property where I am an absentee owner.  I cannot begin to explain the peace of mind I get knowing Mike is on the job.  He calls freqently and sends pictures as updates.  When we run into issues on the job, he is always very reasonable and flexible to make sure the result works for me.   This was a huge repair job, and some parts of it required less work than orginally thought and others required much more.  I felt that his price was more than fair, and he honors his orinal quotes.  We are working on an ongoing preventative maintenance service agreement together to prevent the need for these huge repair projects in the future.  He is a great find!

Called me 2 days in advance, came right on time and completed the work very well and very quickly.  Was very courteous and respectful as were his helpers.

They are professional, do good quality of work, and are reasonable in their price. I have always had a very good experiences with them.

Angie provided several possibilities. Other internet ads added a few. Several contractors came out to survey the job. Many provided estimates. (None, though, from the non-Angie?s list advertisers.) Only one went the extra step of contacting the county to check the requirements. He discovered that we could not build the garage where we wanted! An alternate location for the garage was determined. The contractor, Michael Thompson of Thompson Home Improvement, provided an estimate that was in line with the others, so because he was thorough and checked the location with the county, he got the job. We were completely satisfied, very happy with the job. Michael?s crew was professional and left nothing to chance. We got a top quality project, completed efficiently and pleasantly. To be sure, if and when I need another project done, Thompson Home Improvement will get the call.

They provided excellent service. They arrived on time and finished on schedule. The entire crew was professional and all work  was completed to our satisfaction. I was having problems with water getting into the basement every time it rained. I was looking for a small, family-owned company and Mike fit the bill.  Very responsive, returned my calls in a timely manner and showed up when he said he would.  When he came to do the estimate he fixed a broken gutter gratis, and told me of certain things I could do myself to keep water from getting into the basement that would save me money.  He's very personable, honest and courteous.  As an older, single woman I always worry about my personal safety, having had many problems in the past with workmen.  Mike and his helper were completely respectful and I never had even one moment of worry about them keeping their distance.  I couldn't be happier with his work and his honesty and I would use him again for any kind of contruction/repair need. 

Mike was very friendly and professional. His son was having surgery the day he made the appt so he was going to send two employees to my house. One of his employees didn't show up to work so Mike came to my house to do the work. I felt bad that Mike showed up on the day of his son's surgery but he didn't want to cancel our appointment. He had gotten a good update before he came to my house so all was well. The quality was excellent. They completed the job. I'm very pleased with Thompson Home Improvement.

Mike Thompson and his employees did an excellent job in painting the interior of our home including all of the ceilings.  We have a 2 story entry and staircase that are quite challenging for the home painter.  Mike emailed me a few weeks after I purchased his Big Deal and was very punctual in setting up and starting the job.  He and his associate, Chad, were very meticulous in their painting and good at cleaning up every day to minimize disruption in our home.  Mike was very accommodating to our time line in getting the painting done as we are hosting a big party at our home this month. 
In addition to painting Mike is also a good resource for our other home projects as he is also a builder.  He gave us some good advice in the choice of our front door.

Job was completed on time and without incident.  I would hire him again.
