Ben had good references from a local concrete/block retailer and provided good references. We had trouble getting the project started and had significant delays. Once the foundation had been dug things moved along better. Ben contracted out to a local company to pour the foundation and they did an excellent job. After that things went south. He came back to pour the basement floor and did not order enough concrete for the job. They poured the floor but left a 4' x 4' x 6' triangle in the corner not done. They were supposed to pour that area when we poured the garage floor. Ben came back and filled in around the foundation about 75%. We had trouble getting him to come back and finish the work (garage floor and finish basement floor) but he finally came back. He explained that he was having trouble with the local concrete supplier regarding payment and I advanced him 2300 for the cost of buying the Ready Mix. 2 days later he didn't show up to pour concrete. When I called him he explained that that the person helping him had taken the money and lost it gambling. Mysteriously his cell phone stopped working after that call. He never came back and finished the work or returned that advance. I pursed him in Small Claims court and received a judgement against him. Unfortunately for me he reported no savings or checking accounts and little income. Some friends and I finished the job. I found out during this process that the company that poured the walls and foundation was underpaid by Ben as well. Paying as we went along and writing some checks directly to the Ready Mix company saved me from a much bigger problem. Stay away from this company !
