The things I did not like about them is they were very poor on clean up. A lot of nails were left in my yard. The other thing was I had a pine tree there, when they were taking the shingles off the house they totally ripped the limbs off of my pine tree and destroyed the landscaping.
If it all came down again I would never hire them, not because of the work they did on the roof, they did a fine job on the roof, but the poor cleanup. They were very sloppy. My gutters were full of trash from nails to old shingles. I had to call them back to take care of that. The pine tree only has half of its limbs now, I had to cut them off because they broke them. This is a sixty foot tall pine tree that had been there for one hundred years.

The roof is fine so far, but they knocked a couple of my downspouts off when they were doing the job. I have called them several times, but they will not respond. I turned them into the BBB and they responded that they did not knock them off. They are trying to say that the spouting was put on wrong, but I have had this spouting since 1999 and have not had any problems. The problem would have taken about 10 minutes to fix and about 3 or 4 screws. I am amazed that they could not fix that small of a problem and now I'm worried that if something else goes wrong with the roof that I will have the same problem. The guy that sold us the job does not work for Frank anymore, so he could not help us. We were also told that they would not have to park a truck in the yard, but they did. They parked 2 trucks in the yard and left huge ruts that we had to fix ourselves. We would fix the spouting ourselves, but we don't have a ladder big enough to get to the 2nd story, so now we are getting estimates to get the downspouts fixed.

"Franks Roofing entered into a contract with Member for a shingle roof replacement. This as well as, all of our jobs, was done in a professional manner. Upon completion of the job, a walk around was done with Member’s boyfriend. We complete a walk around will all home owners upon completion to ensure any concerns may be addressed at that time. At this time there were no concerns or issues with the job. I went back two weeks after the job was complete to collect the balance owed on the job. There were no issues or concerns then either. They were happy with the roof. At this time we also discussed replacement of a rubber roof. I was invited back out several weeks later to give them an estimate on the rubber roof. At this time there were no issues or complaints. The issue with the yard: We have always and continue to get authorization from the home owner prior to the work beginning where we are allowed to put trucks and or dumpsters. Again, I have been to Member’s home 3 times after the job was complete, and this was never an issue. Nor was anything said to the crew while they were at Member’s home working. The issue with the Downspouts: Franks Roofing did not install gutters or downspouts to Member’s home. Member called our office and said that one of her gutter straps were loose or broken. As a valued customer, and as a professional, I have been more than happy to address this issue Member had. I have made several attempts to contact Member to resolve this matter. I have left several messages on her voicemail. To the number we have on file for her. At this time Member has not returned any calls made to her. I have made additional notes to the photo, see attached. Thank you Franks Roofing RE: Photo In this photo provided by Member, these are 12 years old. This issue would be visible from the ground. As I did a walk around with Member’s boyfriend, there was no issue with the downs at that time. Nor were there the additional two times I was at Member’s home. As you can clearly see in this photo the screw hole is stripped, and the screw is rusted. There is no visible damage to the downs, from being hit. But again, I have been more than happy to address this matter, if I was able to contact Member."

The roofing job was fine but the details were not what I'd expected. I had a large older pine tree in my front yard and many limbs were snapped. I had to cut some of the limbs off because of the damage. I take great pride in my landscaping and appearance and the broken limbs were of concern to me. This is a 30' ft 60 year old beautiful pine.. and now damaged. I had flowers that were mashed as well that that was minimal to the tree. I also had to call them back to clean the old shingles out of the gutters. The clean up done after my call but why not do that before you leave? The clean up of roofing nails around the property was ok but not great. The magnets available these days should take care of the clean up should have included more care and attention. I actually have no problem with the roof itself. It was a very good job and looks nice as well but the job isn't done at that point in my opinion. The pine tree was a great disappointment to me. In regards to my grades: The roof quality was good as was the salesman. These grades are mostly reflective of the crew and the job.

We contacted Franks and got immediate and responsive service from their representative, Terry. Terry dealt with our insurance company for us most of the way and the guys who intalled our roof did the job professionally, safely, and in good time. The work even took care of a chimney leak we had been experiencing. My only issue, oddly, was the matter of a shutter that had been loosed in the storm. Terry had to order new pegs to secure it again and after requesting the fix twice, and after being told that the part was in to make the fix, no one ever showed up. All in all, it was a great experience and I would likely hire them again.
