About us

Our grandfather Gust Kuchta was a dealer mechanic for the auto manufacturer Dusenberg in the 1930s. He opened his own auto repair business in 1934. Later, he was joined by his sons Ray and Don, and the business was moved to its present location in Maple Hts. in 1971. Ray’s sons Jeff and Ray Jr. came into the business right after high school and have been with the business ever since. All the techs that work at Kuchta’s have a minimum of 25 years' experience and two have over 30 years' experience. Service manager Jeff Kuchta is approaching 40 years on the job. Kuchta’s Auto is especially known for their excellent wheel alignments performed by Ray Kuchta Jr. who also specializes in suspension and steering work and service on light trucks. Kuchta’s is also known for our excellence in HVAC, drivability problems , tune-ups, electrical system diagnosis and engine work and cooling system service performed by perfectionist technician Don S. Mechanic Mark O. is a 30-plus-year veteran of Kuchta’s Auto who specializes in undercar service, brakes, ABS systems and is a master fabricator, welder and repair specialist of just about anything automotive. They tested the pressure and all of the fittings (just had them replace the radiator last month, too) and it all looks good. Only minor persistent leak now... Car is 9 years old with 133000 miles. They've been very good to me over the years and have a loyal customer base. Family owned and operated business. 3 generations. Good people.

They only do what they have to do. If there is something more they see or think needs to be done, they will tell me to bring it back. They don't do anything they don't have to do and then bill me for it. Their price is good. They are right on time. They are professional, which is most important to me. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

They're really honest and don't charge you for things you don't need done. I've been in situations where I thought I would need a major repair and they would look at it and have a simple solution that saved me a lot of money rather than doing a major project.

I TOOK MY OLDER CAR TO THIS FACILITY FOR ANALYSIS OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. MY CAR HAD A SYSTEM EQUIPPED TO USE THE OLDER FREON THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE. KUCHTA'S WAS ONE OF THE VERY FEW REPAIR SHOPS THAT EVEN STILL WORKED WITH THIS FREON. THE SERVICE WORKER PRESSURIZED THE SYSTEM AND PROCLAIMED THAT THERE WERE NO VISIBLE LEAKS. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO RECHARGE THE FREON. THE CAR PERFORMED WELL FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AND THEN REVERTED BACK TO NO COOL AIR BEING PRODUCED BY THE SYSTEM. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK, THEY LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND RIGHT AWAY SAW AREAS THAT WERE SUSPICIOUS FOR LEAKS. IF THEY WERE SUSPICIOUS OF LEAKS IN THIS SYSTEM, I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED THAT THEY NOT HAVE RECHARGED THE SYSTEM (THAT OLDER FREON IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE PER POUND THAN THE NEWER TYPES OF FREON). I BELIEVE THAT THEY TRIED TO DO A GOOD JOB, IT JUST DID NOT WORK OUT FOR ME THIS TIME WITH THIS CAR AND WITH THIS PROBLEM.
