BILL STARK - A FLOOR CARE SPECIALIST

We looked up online the approximate cost to replace and refinish our hardwood floor. Online we found it would cost around $1,500 to refinish the floor and around $2,900 to replace the floor. Bill Stark thought we told him it would cost $9,000 to replace the floor so he threw a number out to refinish the floor at about half, or $4,500 to refinish it. We then told him the numbers we found online and said that if it really costs only $2,900 to install a whole new floor, why are you quoting us $4,500 to refinish. And that's when he said he thought the quote to replace was $9,000. So, he immediately dropped his quote down to below what it would be to replace the floor altogether. That would make anybody suspicious of his prices. We were really backed into a corner. We had stripped floor, and didn't know where to turn. They said this is the only guy that can do it. He told us that he was already charging Interior Floors $3,400 for the work he'd done. So, if we were only paying him $1,100 was Interior Floors going to have to eat the rest of it? When he finally was done, I talked with Interior Floors, and said I didn't feel comfortable paying for the floors since it didn't look right. The floors were not blending in on the edges. The center of the floor looked beautiful but the edges looked really bad. The floor was a factory finish and where they sanded around the edges, the refinish didn't absorb the stain the same way. So, the entire edge of the floor looks like it's constantly dirty. The next morning Bill Stark called me and just reamed me. I mean, he called me every name you can think of. He called me a thief and a liar and said that if I don't pay them that he won't get paid.
