I walked her through what i was looking to have done, she gave me a bunch of options and we decided on a plan. She came back two days later and knocked it all out. Everything works great, was done correctly, she left NO mess at all. Wonderful to work with and I would definitely hire again.
"Quote was given based on Five cylinders. Customer's son had keys for all but one of the locks. I spent a lot of time trying to take the cylinder out of the Schlage lever lock without success. I informed customer by phone that I would replace the lock if I could not get it to come apart, which normally requires keys to turn the cylinder. I replaced the lock on a second trip and did not charge customer for the second trip to his far-away, unheated home. Part of the larger bill was for the Schlage lever. I was told that customer had keys for all locks. It was a very cold day and, son could not be there until 2:30 in the afternoon. I try to start jobs far away much earlier and although I was dressed for the weather, by the time I left the premises, I could hardly talk from being so cold. Storm door locks were wafer tumbler locks which had to be completely removed from doors (3). Locks had three different combinations and customer wanted them keyed alike. The wafers in these Emco locks were not "normal" so I had to shave down "normal" wafers to make them fit. This is not a quick process. Time costs more money. I find it awfully convenient for this customer to criticize the price on something that they had absolutely no knowledge of. I can only give prices on what I think I am going to be doing. Actually, my customer told me to do whatever is necessary to get the job dome, which I did. Most locksmiths would not have touched this job with a ten foot pole. It took too long for THEM to be interested. I sign this "The Professional Locksmith.""
She did an excellent job and I would have no problem recommending her for any lock/security needs.
Joyce first got the door opened, which was no easy task. She assessed what needed to be done, and needed a part that she did not have in her truck (this is an old door with an odd lock, so this came as no surprise to me). She went off and purchased the part, plus a back-up doorknob since my old one's threads were not in the greatest shape after 90 years. She did the necessary repairs, but warned me that the old doorknob, which I wanted to continue to use if at all possible, may not stay on the spindle due to deterioration. However, it is now on the door, and working fine for now. If it should fall off in the future, I now have a new spindle, plus replacement glass knobs if needed. BUT, Joyce was not yet done! She detected that the doors hinges were not tight, causing the door to open too low, so she tightened all the hinges. She lubricated all the locks, including the bolt lock on the storm door. She also adjusted that lock so that it opened and closed more smoothly. All the while, she explained very clearly what she was doing and why. She did not charge extra for the additional work; I sensed that she simply detected some problems that most homeowners would not notice (I certainly didn't), and fixed them. Although I did not notice the more minor problems that she fixed before she worked on them, I definitely noticed the improvement in the locks and the door's opening and closing. In sum, Joyce did a great job, and I highly recommend her to anyone needing an experienced, thorough, and professional locksmith.
She was professional.
I was able to get an appointment that fit my busy schedule which was after work and before I went on vacation.
I would use her again at any time.
She arrived on time and got right to work. She made recommendations on making things a little safer which I appreciated. She didn't leave a mess which I also appreciated - there was nothing to clean up after she left.
I would hire her again as I felt her prices were fair and her work was excellent.
