I purchased a new home in 2007, the previous owner had entered into a contract with TCP for a buried tank and exclusive service. My realtor didn't bother to have this arrangement disclosed (buyer beware) and I was left with two options, continue the contract terms as is, or shell out over thousands of dollars buying the tank or replacing it. Over the six years, TCP consistently delivered propane when I wasn't at home, despite several requests to notify my when they would be in my backyard. I requested notification of delivery because my gate was left open and my dogs were put at risk, and because I had many concerns that I was being charged for more propane than was actually delivered. Through a series of photographing the meter on the tank and comparing the gallons "delivered" I found that there was no way the math added up, and they claimed to have delivered more propane than was possibly put in the tank. My neighbor happened to be home during one delivery, took a photo of the meter in front of the delivery driver and surprise, that bill was accurate and also the lowest bill ever received. I contacted county and state officials regarding my concerns to no avail. Ohio has only recently begun to test the LPG delivery meters after several years hiatus. I was compelled to terminate service with TCP. Upon notice, TCP wanted $700 to remove their tank from the ground. Fortunately my new provider agreed to remove the old tank when they installed the new one. Even this cost me money because TCP claimed a few surface paint scratches on the tank constituted a $100 charge for damages, in addition to $125 to pick up the tank. They ran their truck over my septic leach lines upon extracting it from my yard because they didnt bother to ask permission and how best to enter my yard. Good customer service is not in their vocabulary. Would not recommend them for new or even continued service. Even though it will cost money to extract yourself from a contract with them, there is peace of mind in not dealing with them ever again.
