It went great!! The Fence Co was the cheapest and fastest to meet with me out of four different local fence installation companies. I couldn't be happier with my new fence! It looks beautiful, feels sturdy, and keeps my dog in my yard! The fence I wanted was a non-stock item, so it took 3 weeks for the materials to get in but the scheduling and installation were completely stress-free and easy! Gina met with me and created a proposal with all the things I asked for. 50% deposit was due upon signing the proposal and 50% due upon completion of the work. The dirt was piled next to each post (as mentioned in the proposal) and so I spread it out better before I took the picture. I was extremely satisfied with the work and would definitely recommend The Fence Company to anyone!!
Response from The Fence Co
"[Member Name Removed] it was truly a pleasure to meet and work with. It warms our heart that the new fence installation is the result of you fostering a dog . We are pleased that you were happy with the installation and it looks wonderful around your yard. Maintenance free aluminum is an excellent choice. Please let us know if we can be of service in the future. Thanks so much for your business and take care."

It took longer than expected. It was about 5 weeks from the in person meeting to the installation. Initially, we didn’t know that The Fence Company wouldn’t remove the fence. We had to hire another company (recommended by them) to, first, remove the old chain link fence and vines on and around it. It took some time before we could talk with someone at the 2nd company and for them to be available to remove it. The Fence Company did not receive 1 of our emails. Also, we researched privacy slats, which were never mentioned, and inquired about availability, type and colors. On the installation day the 2 man crew thought they were finished and were about to leave. Before they did, we asked about the lock strip. They did not know anything about the lock strip for the fence. They said it was not on the truck. We called and left the office a message. The crew found it on the truck and added it. We paid by check because, from reviews here, we wanted to avoid the 3% credit card fee. The fence looks nice. We received a handwritten thank you note from The Fence Company staff. In conclusion, we have no complaints.

Just going to make this as short and to the point as possible.  The Fence Co. dug, roughly, 1/3rd of the holes that were needed to complete digging on the 4th day they were out, after sending out 2 different crews.  Nothing was really accomplished on the first 2 days (with the first crew) except one partially dug hole and the company telling us they needed a certain type of equipment they did not have and could not find to rent.  On the 4th day (with 2nd crew) the company informed us they needed more money to complete the job.  4 days later and no fence!!!  1/3rd of the holes were dug, according to them and we had the fence equipment on site.  This company ended up walking off the job and we still had no fence.  We called up one of our other companies that gave us an estimate.  They came out next day.  Completed the job in a day in a half, would have been a day if not for rain. While dealing with The Fence Co. they seemed professional and courteous but DID NOT get the job done and kept trying to raise the agreed upon price to complete the project!  This was a horrible experience for us. They also over estimated for equipment so we have a bunch of extra wood just lying around.  We would not recommend using them to anyone.

Response from The Fence Co
"The Fence Company respectfully submits the following response to the above review: The Fence Company delivered materials to the job site on the scheduled installation date Unfortunately, in this instance, the dig conditions were extreme - a hill with a large amount of slope and extremely rocky. We were in continuous phone contact with Mrs. Member during our 4 day attempt to install the fence on this job site. At each point of contact we informed Mrs. Member of the progress, and limitations we were faced with as presented by the site, and rather than "walking off the job" as stated by Mr. Member, we had multiple, frank discussions with Mrs. Member explaining the options available and the costs associated with the degree of difficulty her job site presented. One such option was the rental of heavy equipment (not owned by The Fence Company), at an additional charge to the customer. This was agreed to, in writing, by Mrs. Member, and the additional charge was waived by The Fence Company as it became apparent that the needed equipment was unavailable at the time of the attempted installation. Once it was determined that we were unable to install the fence on this site we contacted Mrs. Member to discuss the situation and offered the option of purchasing the materials (at cost) which had previously been delivered to her site. Mrs. Member chose to purchase the materials at the discounted rate. The Fence Company was on site for a total of 4 days and charged Mrs. Member for 2 days labor rather than for 4 days. The Fence Company prides itself on completing all of it's fence installations in a professional and timely manner. Unfortunately, in this single instance during 2014, we were unable to complete this installation due to circumstances beyond our control. At each point of contact with Mrs. Member we were professional, respectful, and maintained our integrity while we offered both our honest assessment of the circumstances and the potential options."

The people from Fence company were professional, courteous and very friendly. They started the construction of the fence when they said they would and finished when they said they would. They are not the lowest price contractor, but I'd rather deal with a professional contractor I can rely on. My backyard is a steep hill. The privacy fence is just gorgeous. Wesley worked very hard to keep the project on schedule. I would definitely recommend them.

I can't say enough about this company. They were absolutely great to work with. I worked primarily with two people: Gina, the owner, and Joe. Joe was my initial contact when I called. He's very friendly, polite, and easy to talk to. He set up a time for Gina to come out to our property. The time frame on her visit was very quick; I can't remember exactly but either a day or two. When Gina arrived at our house, she was very helpful as we walked around the property and answered many of my questions. We were going to initially have them take down a very old fence and put up a new one. She provided a quote for this either later that day or the next.
Once we accepted the quote, the work was scheduled to begin within a week. On the first day, several men took down our fence. The plan was to put up the new fence the following day. However, my husband and I began to like the open feeling our backyard had without a fence and decided at the last minute not put up a new fence. I called Joe that night. I meant to leave a message since it was well after work hours but I inadvertantly called his cell phone. He was very kind and understanding of our changes and promised to talk with Gina the next morning. He ended up talking to Gina that night and called me back to let me know that the changes we'd like to make were fine.
When the men showed up the following day to finish taking down a few poles, I changed my mind again. Even though I didn't want the whole backyard fenced in, I wanted a fence to separate our front and back yard. I was a litte too embarrassed to call at this point so I made my husband call. : ) He talked with Joe and, again, Joe was very patient and kind and made it appear as it was no problem at all to switch gears again...
Our back yard looks great and the fence separating our front and back yard is beautiful. I will no doubt use this company again and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone. Gina and Joe were professional, had great customer service, and made the whole experience enjoyable!

Moving from out of state, we needed a fence installed in the backyard to contain our three dogs. Houses on either side of us already had a certain type of black aluminum fence installed in their yards approx. 10 years ago when the houses were built. Our only request was to match the fences on either side, which is the type of black aluminum fence that is standard in our neighborhood.  When we met with the owner, she showed us a paint chip and recommended to us that we go with a dark bronze aluminum fence to match the aging existing fences on either side. We trusted her expertise and agreed with her advice. We knew at the time, as she stated, that they wouldn't match exactly, but would be close. Again, we trusted her experience and advice.

On the day of the install, two people showed up to install the fence. They were close to being on time, and seemed capable. It took two days to install the fence. During the install on the first day, we were outside looking at the fence and noticed a greater discrepancy than expected in the color of the fence. Additionally, the style of fence used was actually not a match to the neighbor fences. That afternoon, halfway through installation, we contacted the Fence Co owner and asked if the correct fence was ordered and would she please come out for a site visit to make sure the correct fence was being installed. We also indicated that the style of fence was not the same. She was immediately defensive and did not come out to see the project.  Upon further investigation, it turns out that the manufacturer of the fence also does not even make a Dark Bronze.  They only make a bronze. To date, she has never come out to see the final project.

Soon after installation, we also only discovered that the installers had drilled through our sprinkler system twice and poured concrete directly into the broken water pipe. Pieces of the sprinkler head and the pipes were buried with the fill dirt surrounding the fence post, so it was impossible that they didn't know they hit the line.  We tried to discuss this with her and again, she claimed they did nothing wrong and was not responsible for anything.  Because they poured concrete right into the broken line (twice) It cost over $500 to fix the line.  If they had been professional and acknowledged the error at the time of hitting the line, it would have been a quick and easy fix.

In addition to the above, the installers also cut a section of wood fencing surrounding our AC units and removed it without reattaching it to anything, leaving this fence hanging with no support.

After multiple attempts to get some kind of acknowledgment, site visit or reasonable response to our concerns the week after installation, we unexpectedly received a letter from her lawyer abdicating her of any wrong doing with an invoice enclosed. We were not late with payment nor were we accusing her of anything. We made attempts to rectify the situation with the Fence Co directly and at every turn she denied any wrong doing and refused to make any site visit to see the fence or the damage in person.

While we understand that mistakes happen, and we did agree to the dark bronze fence (which, incidentally, is bronze-the manufacturer of the fence doesn't have a dark bronze available, despite what she had written on the install contract) we believe it's reasonable for  a service provider to at least inform the homeowner of damage. However, this did not happen. It also seems reasonable to expect a site visit if the work is unsatisfactory. Again, this did not happen.

While we have had great experience with most Angie's List providers, this one was beyond unsatisfactory.  The lack of communication, accountability or ownership is completely unacceptable.  We only hope others don't have to go through a similar experience with this company.

Gina was great to work with. I knew only that I wanted a privacy fence and she helped me choose a style that I like. Although what she didn't mention, and you can't really tell from the picture book is that there are some significant spaced between the slats of this particular style of privacy fence. If i had known that then I'd have certainly chosen a different style. I want privacy.

The job was supposed to take only two days and was scheduled for Thursday and Friday. I was able to get my boss to let me work from home both days in case anything came up at home that I needed to deal with. The crew arrived an hour early on Thursday. I showed them around, answered the initial questions, and then let them get to work. They left that day before 1PM with a little less than 1/3rd of the original fence left to demolish. They didn't bother to let me know that they wouldn't return that day. They started on-time Friday and worked through to evening but by then had only the posts for the new fence set. At no point did they let me know that they would not be finished that day.

I certainly understand that the time frame on jobs like these is only an estimate and I general treat them as such. But I would have appreciated knowing as much ahead of time as possible that it would take longer. I was to meet with a landscaper Saturday and would have canceled if I knew the fence was not going to be finished. The crew didn't tell me when they would return and I didn't see them again until I was leaving home Monday morning.

I received a call Tuesday at work informing me that the job was complete and I had the chance to examine the work once I arrived home that evening. I was (and am) not happy. They had to move a concrete paver where the gate was installed. There was no asking about it they just did it. They left a piece of fiberglass laying on the grass instead of putting it back where it had come from. It had been laying there long enough to brown the grass underneath. These are just minor issues and they did apologize for them but to me it is an indicator of their level of professionalism.

There were a couple of major issues as well. First, as I indicated earlier there are a few places where the gaps between the slats is wider than i am comfortable with. I don't expect there to be no gap at all but I can easily see the gaps from across the yard (about 90 ft.. away) and at least a couple are large enough that I can stick a finger through. There is also a chunk of concrete missing from the corner of the house where the fence meets it. I called to mention this and was told that it was already cracked when they started and removing the original post caused it to break off. There was no offer to help with fixing it since they said it was already cracked. But there was no mention of this possibility  at the start of the job or even a notification that it had broken during the job.

Summary:
While I can say that the folks I spoke to were very pleasant, there was an almost complete lack of communication and they don't seem to mind the (albeit minor) property damage. Overall it'll do but I'd rather have had something better even if it would have cost a little more.

Update:
I am downgrading the quality to "bad". There is a double-door in the fence that provides access from the driveway into the back yard. One door uses a drop bar that sinks into the ground in order to keep the door in place. the other door then latches onto the first. Both doors open inward but the drop bar was mounted onto the outside of the door, on one of the vertical slats. The wind over the winter pushed against the door,  toward the yard and away from the drop bar since it was mounted on the outside. This caused the brackets to separate from the door. And it broke the vertical slat since it was mounted to a slat instead of to the frame of the door. This happened with the fence was only about 6 months old and I've used the gate only about 3 times. I can access the yard from the house. The few instances it's been used were to allow an HVAC technician to inspect my AC unit and to show the fence and yard to people.

Update 2 - 5/1/2015:
Downgrading again. Still less than a year later and the fence doors no longer meet quite right and, as a result, do no latch together correctly. The doors are currently 1/4 inch closer at the bottom than at the top.

I had no prior experience with this company and requested a quote strictly based on Angie's List reviewers.  The other reviewers had great experiences with The Fence Company and mine was no exception.
My first contact was with Gina who arrived promptly on time, was very professional and delivered the quote exactly when she said she would.   Once I agreed to the quote, Joe took over to coordinate the job. Talk about great customer service!  He was super responsive and was wonderful to work with -- I couldn't have asked for anyone better.  Larry did the installation and was professional, took pride in his work and paid attention to detail.
My job was just a standard backyard fencing job so it wasn't very big but I felt like a valued customer through the process.  I have received several compliments on my new fence and have already recommended The Fence Company to one of my neighbors.
Great value, quality work, excellent service -- you can't go wrong with this company!

Gina came out within 3 days for the first inspection and provided her estimate in less than a day. Since the closing had not taken place yet I had time to re-think my choice, I switched from the Kentucky rail fence to privacy. She returned 2 weeks later to update my estimate which she gave to me on the spot, I accepted it and Jesse and Jahi were there the next day to begin the work and in spite of a few glitches, mainly my fault, they still finished the fence in less than 2 days.
The fence is stunning. The burning bushes are gorgeous against the beige fencing which even matches the color of my one neighbors home siding and has improved the look of their home as well.
When the job was finished, the crew cleaned up after themselves and even swept the garage floor where all materials were kept.
I cannot compare pricing since The Fence Co. is the only company I called. After reading their reviews here on A. List and speaking with Gina, I knew this was who I wanted to go with. Even if the price was higher than someone else may have been, the peace of mind that came with working with these people was worth every penny.
I can't say enough about the professionalism and customer respect I received, from Gina, Joe in the office and Jesse and Jahi.
Again, thank you for such a wonderful experience.

When Gina came to our house, there was a row of posts and some wire fence tacked to it that stopped where our deck had just been torn out.  A patio company was in the process of filling this area with stone.  I told her we are looking to replace that temporary fence with a privacy fence that would extend to the edge of the patio, turn the corner & come to the edge of the house, with a gate toward the front yard.
Gina provided a quote for $2700 based on the measurements she took and our conversation.  The quote just listed some materials and whatever number she measured.  After a pretty quick turn-around for ordering the materials, I was called that they could stop by THAT AFTERNOON for the guy doing the work to meet with me to see what needed to be done.  That didn't work with my schedule, so Joe said the guy could come by at 8am the next morning.  I rescheduled my work day to stay home to meet him, and at 8:15, I got a call that the guy was 45 minutes away, just now leaving to get here.  I told him that I had a meeting I couldn't skip for this, and he said I could probably just explain what needed to be done over the phone.  This surprised me, since I had already told Gina what needed to be done but figured it was probably good of him to confirm the details rather than make any mistakes...  I explained the layout & where the fence should go, and asked him if it would be possible for him to also remove a few additional posts that were on another side of my property while he was there.  I fully expected him to say no, so I was pretty excited when he said that shouldn't be a problem.
I got another call from an angry Joe at 10:30 today saying that this work wasn't in the contract and that he would have to charge an extra $100 for the removal of those extra posts.  I told him that was fine, I didn't really care about the posts on the other side of the yard.  He then went on to say that GINA'S MEASUREMENTS WERE 13 FEET SHORT, and that completing the privacy fence was out of scope of the original contract.  He also said that they would not remove the posts that were in the way of the fence that was going in because they didn't realize that it would need to be removed.
They have already set posts (between the old posts that were already there) and are now demanding that I pay an extra $600 to complete the work that I asked Gina for a quote for in the beginning.
I am still struggling with them to get the fence completed.
Response from The Fence Co
"I contacted [Member Name Removed] by phone immediately upon learning that a discrepancy existed between or signed proposal and what my installer had been told by [Member Name Removed]. Understandably [Member Name Removed] was not happy to learn of this himself, and during our subsequent conversation, I assured him that it was not my intention to enter into an argument with him, but to learn as much as possible about how the disconnect might have happened and to inform him as what I could and could not do, per our signed contact, from that point forward toward resolution of the issue. At no time was I “angry” in my tone or demeanor, but rather listened to his frustration, and again, offered the options as to what I was able to do as well as what I was not able to do to resolve the issue. [Member Name Removed] decided against the option I offered to replace, free of charge, the wire fencing which my crew had previously removed from his existing fence posts in an effort to help contain his dogs while I attempted negotiate a resolution with him. I also offered to charge a nominal rate $100.00 for the remove of his old fence to which his first response had been a “Yes, that seems like a reasonable amount.”, and then after a moment’s reflection, he decided to accomplish the removal himself. The next morning as I read [Member Name Removed]’s negative Angie’s List review, which was posted the same evening as our conversation (September 18, 2013), I was taken aback by the differences between our individual accounts of conversation. The above paragraph contains just two of these discrepancies. During a phone conversation with [Member Name Removed] (September 19, 2013), she twice used the phrase, “They should not have assumed…,” in reference to their expectations regarding the job. Given the negative comments/ratings posted by [Members Name Removed] on Angie’s List, and posted by them at such premature points during the negotiation process, I felt the best decision for The Fence Company to exercise was to terminate our business association with [Members Name Removed]. The Fence Company has (as of September 20, 2013) refunded the deposit [Members Name Removed] had paid, minus labor, materials; 1 trip charge, and a restocking fee of 15 % for materials ordered for the job."
