We took our time  and let the project unfold  in stages, which worked well  on both sides.  We added some inside work that really opened up the kitchen and dining room to the outside porch until it felt almost like a new house inside, front to back. That happened necause of Doug's multiple abilities to incorporate various aspects of the task and reccomend very affordable soluitions

Doug did a beautiful job designing the porch. He was on board with us throughout the entire project. We are very pleased with the work. He has really just done outstanding job and he has followed up to make sure we are satisfied with his work. He definitely made sure we got what we wanted and he stood behind what he said he would do. His price was fair as well. I highly recommend him.

He is going to start work as soon as the painter who is working here now is gone. He was really helpful and creative. He came out and looked at it and we talked about some ideas then took some measurements. He came back with a blocky looking alternative and priced it out for both tumbled and non-tumbled pavers and then he came back with something that has certain curves and obviously more work and he costed that out. We liked the second which was actually much more than we had originally planned out. This turned out  into a bigger job. He's very creative. We just wanted a place to put our grill on. He asked, "What do you think about this?" and we started expanding and pretty soon we got this dumbbell shape. He was very accommodating. He brought the drawing out and he started scribbling on the drawing and said we'll move it closer to the house. Then he went back and put a new drawing together and recosted it. He was a really, really helpful guy. He was very sharp and knowledgeable. New alternatives came up with good ideas. We are looking forward to this particular job to work out so fine. He's very responsive and timely. He gives you what you want and if you say, "What do you think?", he's probably got some alternatives. If you don't like them, it's fine but if you like them, he'll draft something out for you. He shows up with a paint can. He says, "I've got paper and I can go up there and measure those and spray paint it on the grass if you want. I said yes so he set the whole thing wide up on the grass where the 2 ovals are and where the path is in between and how wide they are and you can walk through and you say, "Yes it's big enough to put a table and chairs on. That's a nice and wide walkway."

Doug was a professional from start to finish. We were very concerned that our wood not be shredded through the pressure washing. Doug listened to us and reassured us of his capabilities. And he was true to his word. Doug was reliable; friendly; listened to us and provided helpful suggestions; and we are very satisfied with the work he completed.

Doug was punctual beginning with the estimate and the completion of the job.  The original bid was to add on a 10 x 12 deck to an existing deck to cover the gravel area where a hot tub was previously located.  Shortly after Doug left when meeting for the first estimate, I called him advised that I wanted to add on to the job and wanted a tree removed and the "entire" area filled in with decking.  He adjusted the estimate and we agreed for him to complete the job.  After completion, I realized the finished job did not have the look I was looking for and he came out to give me options.  We agreed on a plan and once again I called him after he left to advise that I decided I wanted to completely replace the existing fence panels that surrounded the new area instead of only moving the existing aged ones.  We agreed upon a price and he proceeded to complete the job in a timely manner and at the price discussed.  Doug worked with me through many changes to the original plan and the new addition looks great.  Would definitely hire him again for other projects.

WOW!  For those of us who have had a bad experience with a Contractor, you don't have to worry or fret anymore with Remodeling by Design....we actually found this Contractor based on a referral from a friend (Doug built their screened in porch also)....when we called Doug, he was prompt, attentive, and very detailed oriented....we truly felt like he was looking out for our best interests with his ideas and recommendations!  The best thing about this Company is that there were no hidden surprises like a suddenly found "hidden cost" that would cost us more....Doug stood by his word and did the job right, and in a timely fashion (about 3 weeks from start to finish). This Company's ethics  remind me of the days when a job was done on a Man's handshake where his word was "good" (and in this case Doug's handshake  would have been  "good" ) and not like today where most of us have to worry about getting shortchanged by somebody less trustworthy.....we would be surprised if  you would have a less than satisfactory experience.....we are completely satisfied.

When we started this project, the company was called Outdoor Design, and we selected them for a bid based on Angie's List reviews.  During the project they had a name change to Remodeling by Design. 
Doug came out to bid the deck for us.  He turned out to be our most thorough, timely and positive bid experience.  We really wanted a screened in deck, but didn't think it was possible because of the height of our roof line.  Doug told us it was an option, drew up the proposal taking the shape and size of our front porch and the rest of the house into consideration so they would match, and he was the only one who did.  Because we thought composite was the way to go, he gave us three different  material options and what his recommendation was.  We felt his bid was accurate and fair so we committed to the project. 
After getting approval from the home owners association and building permits from the county, work began, and so did the lousy weather.  We were surprised at some of the weather they showed up in to work.  Communication from Doug and his crew was very good.  They were very gracious and willing to make changes along the way - screens from partial to full, wood rails to metal (thrilled with them) and they never missed a beat.  One thing always leads to another, so we decided to replace our soffitts on the house.  Doug brought us options to look at and was very patient with our decision making.  They did a great job with them, which made the house look so much fresher. 
Our original deck was so old, the codes had changed, which left holes in our concrete patio below the deck.  As a surprise, they built three planter boxes around the supports to hide the old holes.  Thoughtful! 
It all looks great, we love it and get compliments on it all the time - anyone who saw the old and now the new is so impressed - even repairmen in the neighborhood comment on it.  It fits the house so well, you would think it was always there. 
As far as we are concerned, you can' t go wrong with these guys!  We plan on having them back for other projects.

We have lived in this house for over 25 years.  There is a large deck in the back which was original with the house, built in 1977.
The time had come for the deck to be replaced.  We obtained three quotes and selected Outdoor Design.  We expressed our desire that the replacement deck be similar to the previous deck.  We also wanted the new deck to be as low maintenance as possible. Doug Beck was very helpful as we decided on the type of materials to be used.  In order to save money we opted to paint the structural portion of the deck ourselves.  Doug worked with us to provide a schedule that allowed us time to do this.  The deck is now a year and a half old.  It has had no problems other than a couple of loose fasteners.  When we contacted Outdoor Design about this they came out to replace and refasten the loose board.  We were very pleased with the workmanship, the willingness to accommodate our schedule and the outcome of our new deck.

Bob came by to give us an estimate. He was very friendly and the estimate was in the ballpark of what I had expected to pay. We got an estimate from another company and it was significantly more so we went with Outdoor Design. The longest part of the process was waiting for Hamilton County to deem us worthy of a permit. Once that was out of the way, the new deck was up and finished in roughly a week's time. There were no hassles and the deck looks great!

The deck was constructed to our specifications, it was beautifully done, the workers were professional, courteous, and friendly, and cleaned everything up when they left.

Outdoor Design is a pleasure to work with. The communicated with us at every step of the process. The estimate for the deck was spot on. We had some rotted wood that they also identified and replaced. I would definitely use them again.

All in all the project went fairly well. I liked the windows and doors they installed, they did a very good job with the installation and cleaned up well after the job. Easy to talk to, prompt and couteous.

Wonderful! They came when they said they would and worked hard to finish within a few days each time. When stopped by rain, they let us know when they would be back. The work seems to be very solid and stable on the hillside. We are very pleased.

We had a rather large deck we wanted relaced and the company was very good to work with. It was a big deck project. The project took several weeks because of rain delays. Also the company only had a two man work crew. However, the company did a very good job and was easy to work with. We made some changes in the railing materials and facing materials that changed the price but we considered it well worth it because the final result was very good. This company came highly recommended and we would hire them again because they really do try to please the customer and do good work.

great! designer made good suggestions regarding steps vs. a ramp and even during construction when he realized the possibility of improving the steps he modified the design on the fly to achieve outstanding results for us.

We were very pleased with the process from beginning to end. We would definitely use them again as well as recommend them to anyone.

We were very satisfied. All work performed exactly as promised. We did not need to be home for work to proceed. As existing deck was at ground level, condition of supports underneath could not be known until deck boards were removed. At that point, they called and gave full report on condition of support beams, including necessary repairs and costs, and obtained permission before going ahead with the work. Work area was cleaned up every day.

Worker's did a good job. Good overall satisfaction.

Bob Beck and his crew did a great job start to finish. While giving us an estimate Bob came up with several great suggestions on how to improve the look of the deck. They used quality wood and finished in the time they estimated. The deck looks fantastic and I am very pleased with the results. I would recommend them to anyone and will probably use them for some wood siding work I need done.

It went great! Doug, the son who has been doing decks for almost 30 years was the head man on the job. They had the wood delivered at 8am and the job done by 4:30PM that same day. I was very impressed when I saw the wood was 20' long and came from a real lumber company ....not a big box store! It was beautiful. However, Doug felt some of it wasn't good enough so he went to the store and replaced 10 of the boards for better ones during his lunch hour. All 3 of the workers were polite and professional. I couldn't be happier! Some lumber was left and I was told that the lumber company would come and get it in a couple of days. 2 days later it was still there so I called Dottie and she called and got them right out there to pick it up. They also picked up after themselves and left the yard and deck nice and clean and gave me instructions on when and how to stain and seal. Extremely happy with their work and am glad I found them using Angie's List!

Bob and Dottie Beck and their crew did a wonderful job. They helped us design our deck, and their crew built the deck in just three days. We were very pleased with their work.
