About a week later (give or take a few days) after that Jenny informed my wife that she was going to have to move our scheduled cleaning because she instead found a weekly client who wanted service on Thursday mornings. While I understood the business side of this I was disappointed in that she was changing something that we had already agreed upon. After a few back and forths she agreed on an option we proposed, which was once a month her weekly Thur AM client could be done at a later time that day.
Fast forward to the date of the cleaning. Bottom line, my wife & I were pleased with the cleaning service provided on Nov 1st. Took her about 3 1/2 hours (original estimate she told my wife over the phone was she'd be here about 5 hours). I confirmed with her before she left our next cleaning date and thanked her. Later that night, as she said she would do, she emailed my wife a thorough list of what all services she performed in the house.
Within the next day or two we provided feedback on what looked good, what maybe could use some more attention next time, asked if the job was about what she expected, could we put some items on a rotational basis to lower the price, etc. After this note we didn't receive the usual quick response from Jenny.
After a few days passed my wife again followed up wtih Jenny. That's when, today, we received a note from Jenny that she would need to stay firm on the $125 price and in addition, she had picked up some new weekly and bi-monthly clients and would be dropping her newly monthly clients. I called to inform her that we were still interested in continuing this arrangement at the $125 price but she confirmed she was not interested in our business any longer. Additionally she mentioned that after going through the house she felt the $125 estimate should've been higher.
Bottom line. We were pleased with the cleaning services provided by Jenny's cleaning services but were really disappointed with the "professionalism" shown by not honoring verbal agreements. It appears her newly formed business will follow the money as opposed to agreements already made. This is based on TWICE her essentially "bumping" us as a montlhy customer for someone willing to pay for more frequent service (once for the Thursday AM weekly client before she actually cleaned our house for the first time and then the 2nd time today when she permanently cancelled on us). And again, while I understand the business model of this, I would suggest to not advertise a monthly service as an option if you're only after this as a start up business until you grow your weekly or bi-monthly clients.
My recommendation to other Angie's List members would be if you're looking for a weekly clean then Jenny's cleaning service may be an option for you. Otherwise, I'd be leary about getting "bumped" if I was a bi-monthly (or monthly?) customer, or whatever other reason might affect the bottom line of Jenny's Cleaning Service.
