"THIS IS NOT A CLIENT. In fact, despite the fact that she gave us 5 stars for customer service, we show no record of even meeting her; plus HA/Angi isn't even supposed to send us leads for rolled batts and therefore I could request that this 'review' be removed. However, I'll instead take this time to state that by and large, fiberglass batting is a blight on our energy grid and that it is true that we almost always refuse to touch the stuff as we are not in the business of doing something ineffectual just because there's a buck to be made. We will not compromise when it comes to accomplishing our client's objectives nor will I ask my team to do work with which they can't be proud. If this 'review' was really left by someone with which we met, I invite you to call us back and I'll be more than happy to discuss alternatives (but only if those alternatives deliver value)."
"Summary: She said it herself - without prompting, her husband told us to change the scope of the work and she is mad at him but for some reason has chosen to take it out on us. The full story: She insisted we do the walls above the garage and did not even allow us the chance to investigate them. When our install team arrived, we drilled into a wall and found they are brick on the block (1/2 inch wall cavity that cannot be insulated). When we told the client that and were about to leave, her husband asked us to insulate the floor space between the garage and the conditioned space above instead (which is what we would have recommended had she not insisted on the walls; oh, and the 2 other bids she mentions were insulating the walls of the garage - also not what we would have recommended). So we waited around while he tried 3 times to confirm the change with his wife but she would not pick up, so after about an hour of waiting around, he told us to go ahead and do it. Upon her return, she had, well...A bit of a fit. We felt so bad for her husband that we offered even more discounts and suggested she not pay us until she validates that the solution works. She refused and instead, she paid in full and left us this completely unjust review (we did what the client asked us to do - were we supposed to look her husband in the eye and say NO?!?). Oh, and applying this solution versus insulating the walls took twice the amount of materials and labor and we only charged them (a heavily discounted) 20% more. NOTE: She left the review the next day - well before the insulation could have even had an impact (cold insulation going into a cold cavity would take 48-72 hours to acclimate). I assume she is not returning our messages offering to come out and investigate because it is working fine now and she is just embarrassed (her husband was apologetic and old told us he was pleased with our work and extra consideration). I do wish you both a comfortable winter."
