High Quality People. I needed an honest assessment on whether or not my deck was properly constructed or if substantive repairs may be necessary. Chris reviewed the deck and gave me a very honest assessment even though it resulted in less work for him on the project. I respect honest people and Chris is an honest guy. Thanks for your help.

The estimator came out and assisted us with developing a final design and layout.  He provided great suggestions during the design phase.  We are completely happy with the deck.  During the quoting process, we met at the showroom to make final color and decking decisions.  Having the showroom was a great resource to compare decking colors and railing choices.
Upon downpayment of the deck, he provided an accurate estimate of when the deck would be started and completed.  During the build of the deck, everything went smooth as well.  The start date and completed date were right on the schedule that was communicated to us.  We had a couple of minor punchlist items from the build and Decks Unlimited followed up promptly and addressed our concerns.  They had a great attention to detail and we couldn't be more happy with the deck.
Their pricing was in line with the other deck builders that we had quote the project.  Our decision was made based on the estimator spending additional time with us to help with an overall design of the deck, as well as, the other reviews from Angie's List detailing the craftsmanship showed when building the deck.  As I said, we couldn't be more impressed with the entire duration from quoting to final buildout.

Quote:  The estimator for Decks Unlimited came out and thoroughly inspected our existing deck.  He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions regarding the work that the company would do.  The quote was returned timely and met his estimate on how long it would take.  The price was in line with other contractors but we chose Decks Unlimited due to the knowledge of the estimator and the reviews on Angies List.
Work:  They showed up at 8:30 on the first day of work which was nice as other contractors have not been as punctual.  They completed the tear down and replacement quickly while going beyond the original scope of the project when a support wall was deemed unsound.  They ended up demolishing the wall and replacing it with stronger support posts. They were friendly and very competent.  Also, they kept the work area very clean.  We didn't have to worry about nails in tires or lumber pieces strewn about our yard. 
Quality:  Excellent.  The deck feels so much stronger and looks so nice.  Their work exceeded our expectations in every way.  We have spent a lot of time just looking at it and walking on it as it is so nice to have.  I really don't have words to describe how happy I am in the finished product.
We would/will recommend Decks Unlimited to anyone as we felt that they did a great job.  It was a pleasure to deal with them.

We had recently built a ranch on a small piece of property and there was nothing to walk out on from our back sliding doors.  Decks Unlimited came in a timely manner and reviewed what we wanted, which changed several times on our end.  They built, from the bottom up, a screened in porch and a small grill deck with steps going down to the ground.  We had them use Trex on the floor and stairs, as well as the ballisters/railings, which will be more maintenance free.  They installed lighting and a ceiling fan as well.  It took a bit longer than I had hoped but was worth the wait.

Had numerous companies give us bids and their bid was a bit high, but they were willing to negotiate. The two men who did the job were great. We had no problems throughout the whole process. They showed up around 8:30/9 and left around 4 each day. It took them about a week and a half to complete the job (mainly because of weather delays). They were courteous of our property (no loud music, left the job clean). Most of all they were truly experienced craftsmen.They redesigned our steps and rails and decided to use 20 ft boards with a framing border so our floor would have no seams showing. We have received numerous compliments on our deck and I would highly recommend them to anyone (and I am picky!).

We dealt with both Chris and Scott on the design, measurements, choice of materials, final details.  We started planning this project in March, and did not actually commit to it for months, because we were making decisions, reviewing materials, getting estimates.  this company's estimate was by far more reasonable than several others we sought.  We met several times with Chris and Scott about details, which made for a pretty smooth completion of the project.  I would definitely recommend this step since sometimes Chris and Scott missed some communication.
Scott and one other worker did all of the work on the project.  The second worker, as well as Scott, was very knowledgable and friendly, easy to work with. We love our new deck!  We were not happy with the stairs as they were initially installed.  There was no railing added.  This had not been detailed on the original estimate, but the picture we had provided did have railing. The stairs as laid were too short to incorporate the railing to the posts.  We met with Scott and came up with a plan that we are very happy with. Scott was cooperative in making the adjustments.
The work started as planned and was completed on time.  We would definitely recommend Decks Unlimited. 

Decks Unlimited is very punctual, easy to work with, very straight forward and they did what they were supposed to do. Their quality of work is very good.

The project went exceptionally well.  The salesman and workers were always prompt, courteous and professional.  After I received the initial bid, I asked for a couple of modifications, and they worked with me to get a final design that I really liked at a price I could afford.  They pulled the permits and started work within 2-3 weeks.  At the end of each day, they cleaned up the work site so the area was safe for me and my dogs.  They coordinated their work schedule with the company that was going to install the new door, so I didn't have to worry about having a big hole in my house while waiting for the door installation.  Ten days later,  the deck was finished.  The quality of the work was outstanding, and the deck is sturdy, solid, and beautiful.  I would definitely hire them again.

This was a great experience overall. Chuck Meyer spent a lot of time helping us with design, provided references, sample materials, etc. He was very responsive to phone calls, checked in with us often leading up to the project & helped us acquire the appropriate permits. He gave us a fair & accurate assessment of the structural soundness of the previous deck. Construction started 1 week earlier than we expected & was done quickly. The workers cleaned up all materials afterward & the deck is beautiful. My only complaint is that there are a few spots on the wood railings that have ragged edges which need to be sanded. Otherwise it's great!

I cannot get them to return a call to tell me what to do about the spots. I started calling last year. I complained to the BBB and they told them that they had come out to see my deck many times. I know this not to be true. After paying $2000, the deck looks awful and they will not return my calls. Even when I was under warranty I never got a call back, and after the 1 yr warranty expired, things only got worse.

They did an outstanding job. On time, great clean up and an excellent crew doing the job. Their prices were very reasonable compared to other companies.

Chuck Meyers was the only contractor who truly spent the time with us that we needed to plan our deck. We wanted flexibility to add-on a screened-in porch at a later date and he knew what additional posts and joists we needed to be up to code when we were ready. The rest of the contractors just said it would be no problem to add on to any deck design. Chuck kept in touch with me the whole way to make sure we got what we wanted when they promised it to us. We are very pleased with the quality of work. We are considering them to do some additional work in the future.

I'll start with the bottom line - I'm very happy with the deck! They built me a nice 16' x 16' deck with matching/permanant seats. Their sales rep, Chris Lyon was very professional and a pleasure to do business with. Now the bad news, they were a week late starting which normally wouldn't be a big issue, however, I had (expensive/extensive) landscaping (see my review on Bard's Landscaping) planned and scheduled to be done when they finished the deck per the schedule they provided me. Because Deck's Unlimited was late it caused problems for the landscapers who ended up working around the decking crew who in turn stomped down the new mulch and left it full of Trex deck saw dust. The other problem was the price jumped over $1000.00 dollars (of which they split the cost with me 50/50) due to Trex discontinuing the color in the ''Origins'' product line forcing me to go with the more expensive ''Accents'' Trex product.

Mike was very particular and thorough with all the details. he handled everything from the permits and drawings to finding a solution for a pipe than ran under one of the main posts. The deck is as solid as a rock and we anticipate enjoying it for years to come.

THEY WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL AND VERY HONEST. MIKE, WHO WAS THE SALESPERSON, ALWAYS WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WERE HAPPY. THEY SAID IT WOULD TAKE 30 DAYS AND THEY WERE RIGHT ON TIME, OR A LITTLE EARLIER. THERE WAS SOME RAIN AND THEY PUT FLASHING ON THE PORCH TO MAKE SURE IT WAS OK. THEY CALLED TWO MONTHS LATER TO SEE IF THE FLASHING WORKED. THEY WERE VERY GOOD WITH FOLLOWING UP.

THE COMPANY REPLIED TO MY INITIAL CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS AND THE REP SHOWED UP ON TIME TO PROVIDE A FREE, WRITTEN ESTIMATE. ALTHOUGH IT WAS SUMMER AND BUSY SEASON THEY WERE ABLE TO GET TO ME IN A REASONABLE TIME PERIOD (ONE MONTH). THEY TOLD ME APPROXIMATELY WHEN THEY COULD BEGIN, AND THE LENGTH OF TIME THE JOB WOULD TAKE. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE. THE WORK WAS EXCELLENTLY DONE AND THE WORKMEN CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES, EVEN MID-JOB WHEN A WEEKEND WAS INVOLVED. AFTERWARDS THE REP RETURNED TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS DONE TO MY AND HIS SATISFACTION. THERE WERE A FEW SMALL DETAILS WHICH THEY ATTENDED TO PROMPTLY. THEIR PRICE WAS NOT THE CHEAPEST BID, BUT CLOSE TO IT. IT WAS AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE AND I PLAN TO USE THEM AGAIN.

THE JOB WAS DONE ON TIME, ON BUDGET AND INCLUDED SOME NICE DETAILS THAT WERE NOT DISCUSSED IN THE QUOTE. ALL WORKERS WERE PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. JOB SITE WAS LEFT AS THEY FOUND IT. ALL EXCESS MATERIALS WERE CARTED AWAY. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.
