Auto Glass, Auto Service
$235
My husband and son went to Blodgetts Auto Service to have a car window replaced. We provied the new window. We were quoted $55 for installation. My husband and son watched as the employee took the car door apart. The employee showed them a part inside of the door that was broken and needed to be replaced. The employee called an auto dealer to order the part. The new total for work and the part would be $160 for the part and labor, which my husband paid. One of the employees then gave my husband and son a ride home. Upon returning to the shop the employee is told the ordered part will not fit this vehicle and no other part is available. The employee then welded the broken part to repair it. An hour later, we receive a call stating the situation with the ordered part and that they had decided to weld the broken part. The vehicle was ready for pick-up.  However, the new total would be $235. Upon questioning the employee why the total was so high when a new part would not be used my husband was told that this was the total charge for 4 hours of labor. My husband told them it had not even been 4 hours since he arrived at the shop with the vehicle. He was then told that it took two employees to do the work so we were charged for an hour labor for each man. Knowing somewhat about welding my husband told them it did not take two men to do this job and the welding could not have taken more than a few minutes to do. The only response in return was, "Well, we had two guys work on it."

They did vacuum out the inside of the door for broken glass and also removed leftover adhesive from the paint on the door where we had taped plastic to cover the window opening. The solution used to remove the adhesive did a great job at removing the adhesive but also removed the metallic appearance of the paint and very noticeably dulled the paint as well.

The low scores given for quality and professionalism are due to the dulling of the paint on the door and for being charged 4 hrs of labor for a job that did not take 4 hrs to complete and did not require two men to do it.
