PHIL HUGHES BUILDERS

Description of Work: In Dec 2005, we agreed to have Phil s and company build our addition. We told him exactly what we wanted and he gave us a price of $58,100. We gave him 10% as down payment. Work was supposed to start immediately and he gave us a time estimate of about March for a finish date. When nothing was started, he said he was working on another project that was taking longer than expected. We were very patient. When it was June and still nothing was going on, I asked if I could have my deposit back until they were ready to start. He did not give the deposit back, but finally, in July it started very slowly. He kept giving us new finish dates and in December when it was only half done. He walked off the job. We got him to do a little more work after threatening legal action, but he disappeared again. He cost us $20,000 to finish it ourselves. We have reported him to the attorney General's office. We are in the process of suing him if we can find him.
