House Cleaning
This is how/why I ended up joining Angie's List.
She did reasonably good work -- my husband thought she did a good job, and I know my standards are super-high, so let's stick with his assessment. She performed the tasks I listed above well enough that we had no reason to complain.
Until I realized in mid-March that she'd been taking checks out of my checkbooks and writing them to herself, in her own handwriting.
I filed a police report and don't think anything will come of it, despite the fact that there was plenty of evidence. She claimed I gave her permission to do extra work and to then write checks to herself and forge my signature. I'm absent-minded, but I never have or would permit something like that.
My locks have been changed and I have learned a lesson -- do more investigation before hiring someone to come into your home, especially if you aren't there.
If you are considering hiring Karen Martin, I would tell you that she does a good job -- but be sure that you are present while she is cleaning.
