I brought a table lamp to Slater's Hardware for the simple (I thought) replacement of a switch as I had had its identical 'twin' repaired in this same establishment several years ago with satisfactory results. These particular lamps are of solid brass and very heavy. I explained to the person who would be doing the repair that the lamp needed a new switch; at that time we agreed that he would also replace the original 8' cord and its attached in-line switch, a 3-way socket and felt pad. After I retrieved the lamp and examined the repairs I noticed the new cord was of 10' length, there was no on-line cord switch, and the 3-way socket opened to an exposed copper wire. I called and explained to Steve Slater who advised me to return the lamp to the store and explain the situation to the lamp repairman which I did. Mistakes were acknowledged, the comment made that 'it happens', and the lamp again was left in the store to fix the slip-ups. After I again retrieved the lamp the new cord compared to its 'twin' now measures 6 1/2' from the base instead of 8'. I called Slater's again and this time my call was returned by Lou Ann Weisenstein. I might mention that every person to whom I explained the situation, prior to my conversation with this lady, was polite and courteous. Not so Ms. Weisenstein, who was rude and argumentative as I attempted to explain for the 4th time my concerns to someone in this store. She spoke over me in a clipped, condescending and frankly dictatorial tone, even disputing how my receipts were tabled when I was reading the information she requested directly off the receipts themselves. Having no intention of hauling this lamp back to Slater's (for the 3rd time) I asked for a partial refund which she arbitrarily denied in no uncertain terms; it was either return the lamp (again for the 3rd time) or accept a gift certificate for 'anything in the store.' This old-fashioned hardware store is a man's dream in my opinion with weights, merchandise and 'antiques' of no particular interest to me, a senior citizen with limited income, which I explained to Ms. Weisenstein who advised me to 'give it (the gift certificate) to a friend.'

I worked for them when I was 16. I didn't think they'd be able to get the key out. And they managed it without tearing anything up. Absolutely I'd use them again.

It's a good service in our town. They are very professional and their bonds locksmiths. They have been in business for many years. I would use their services again in the future.

It was expensive because the key had to be programmed. I think it's called a transponder. They are an old-fashioned hardware store that offers new locksmithing. They were on time and professional. They also guaranteed the work and tried to bring the key back to the passenger door. It didn't work on the passenger door very well. They said they guaranteed all of their work.
