Mr. Starkey was prompt and knew so much about computers. It was wonderful that he drove over 15 miles from his place of business to our home. He was very interesting to talk to. It is great to know that if we have technical problems in the future I don't have to unhook everything and take it in to the shop. Our new printer works great and there is no problem with it not working with the laptop. His charge was very reasonable.

Alan arrived on time and got right to work. He discussed with me exactly what I wanted and got to work. He did run slightly over the hour I had paid for, but did not charge me for the extra minutes.

He was very good, efficient, listened to me, spoke in regular language, not computer-speak. Fixed all the issues I had quickly, and interfaced effectively with the IT folks in the work program I must use. (And who were complete jerks up til that time. With his help, it took the jerk IT folks 20 minutes to correct the problem! Very gratifying.)

"I am sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with the service provided. You listed August 4th as the date of service. My records indicate service was provided on May 9th. I also show we communicated by email after that time but there is no mention of a problem with the service. In fact you hired me again on May 11th to connect remotely to your computer and assist you further. I again apologize If I gave any impression of being rushed during your service. My records indicate I was onsite during the initial call for 4 hours. Normally the service you received would not take that long but If you remember your internet service kept dropping out. At the conclusion of the service I remember staying and assisting you with the sorting out of your older iPads and identifying a faulty power cord which made it possible for you to continue using one you were going to through away. I am also sorry that you felt I did not explain things particularly well. At the time of service I do not remember you having many questions about the new computer. The second service was about how much you hated the appearance of the new Outlook. I spent time researching all of the ways it could be modified to meet your needs. When I connected to your computer remotely I showed you how to make the adjustments. We made the changes we could and you said you would try it and let me know if you were OK with it or would need help re-installing your older version of Outlook. Since I didn't hear from you again I assumed you were satisfied."

I suddenly found I could not connect to the internet on my desktop computer. After calling my internet provider, who could not find the problem, I searched Angie's List and found Key Computer Solutions, which is located right in my neighborhood. I called at 8:30 in the morning, and Alan answered right away. He said he could come over as soon as he was done at his current job, which thrilled me that he could come so quickly. He spent a lot of time trying to diagnose the problem, which we both discovered was going to be baffling. He then took the computer to his shop and worked on it some more, and did scans, updates, and clean up. He returned it promptly the next morning, and everything works fine! The computer runs better than it has in a long time. We may never know what the problem actually was, but as Alan explained, with computers, there sometimes is no reason to be found. Alan was very professional, charged me a very reasonable price for the time & effort he spent, and because I was a first-time Angie's List customer, I got a 25% discount. I couldn't be more pleased with his service.

Alan arrived a few minutes early and worked promptly. He knew exactly how to transfer the data, and then install both common and uncommon programs. I was lucky he had another job to do while the data actually copied for 3 hours. He was nice enough to come back and stay past closing hours to get the job finished. He even answered quick questions on the phone and verified the configuration of the machine before I purchased it. He was knowledgeable, professional and a very nice gentleman. I would use him again and will recommend him to anyone needing computer help. He has done this for a long time and gained a lot of experience in addition to the kind you get out of reading books. He is a valuable resource.

He performed a diagnostic and found I needed a new DSL unit and ordered the part while he was here as I don't drive and it would be difficult for me to get it myself. He spent quite a bit of time checking a lot of other things as well. He came back on the 9th to install it. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working quite right for long and I plan on calling him after Christmas to check on it since I don't use it very often. However he was very nice and seemed like he knew what he was doing while he was here. I don't think the issue is his fault - I believe it's probably a connection or the new DSL unit itself.

He came on time and installed WiFi in my home and connected my printer. He went above what I asked and connected my kindle to WiFi.I have used Geek Squad in the past. Their work was good but expensive. Also I was looking for the same person I could call with re: tech issues and not have to talk to a phone bank.
