PREMIUM PAINTING

Description of Work: As the executor for my parents, I signed a contract with Mr. Szabo, Premium Painting, on 1 June 2011, to paint the exterior of my deceased parents' residence in Highland Heights, Ohio. I provided Mr. Szabo with a check for $ 1,150., as a 50% downpayment, which he subsequently cashed. After repeated calls and delays, which he attributed to other clients and weather, I met with him briefly on 2 July to inspect the exterior painting job. He had only spent about 3 hours of his time sanding a 20 foot square patch of the rear siding, which scoured and gouged the cedar siding. He assured me that he would finish the job correctly. He departed shortly thereafter and never returned. I called him repeatedly on the status. He initially offered an excuse that he was going through a divorce and that it was a challenging period for him. He assured me that he would finish the job once again. He offered to lower the price, which I refused, as I thought the original price was fair. I only asked him to complete the job as contracted. He never returned. During early August 2011, I sent a a certified letter to his residence demanding a refund, which was returned unopened. I then contacted the Highland Heights Police Department to issue a complaint. They contacted him and shortly thereafter he disconnected his telephone. In conclusion, Mr. Rob Szabo is a petty thief. HIs scam is to trick people into signing a contract. He then shows up for a couple of hours, so that he can always claim that he did some work. Then, he never returns and pockets the money. He has likely onducted this scam on multiple occasions. In this case, he took advantage of my deceased parents, who worked very hard for their money. I am deeply offended and would like to see justice administered to Mr. Szabo accordingly.
