Oakwood Lawn & Landscaping has helped us out twice: Last summer they did drainage work to direct rainwater away from the house, and this year they sprayed to kill an invasive weed that was taking over a very large garden, choking out all other plants. They did this while killing only very little of the periwinkle, which I want to keep. Both jobs were handled professionally, with no surprises, for reasonable prices. We'll definitely hire them again.

Highly recommend. Jeff came out and struck me as being very knowledgeable and excited about his work. Jeff and John came up with a plan for my landscaping that fit my requests. Crew was great, fast and professional. One of the shrubs died after they planted it, but when they came by to do something else at the house, they noticed it and replaced it even though I hadn't even had a chance to call them about it - highly impressed by a company that takes this kind of pride in their work.

Scheduled the work. The workers did come the week that was 'guestimated'. Received call a day before workers came to advise. Workers arrived promptly and went over the work to be done with me. Everyone was really nice. So nice, in fact, that they were happy to preserve some plantings for me that were to be dug up. They dug them up and I divided and placed into temporary pots. That was such a big help that I didn't think was part of the job, so I appreciated it. The workers were so fast and efficient with their excavating (which they did by hand) and installation. It was clear they had done many jobs such as this. They worked steadily that day, then rain was coming, so they made everything ready for that and departed. They returned the next day to finish the job, since the rain had stopped. They left everything very tidy and minimized any damage to my lawn or other areas. They even left a little retaining border along my sidewalk and some nice stepping stones to my faucet. So helpful!! While we haven't had a real heavy set of rains yet, it is clear that this work is remedying the problems that I was having. Very pleased.
I used them a few weeks later to mulch the beds that I had replanted. It looks great and was very reasonably priced. I plan to use again for mulching in spring.

Bottom line, they were good, not great. Somewhat expensive. Person out for estimate seemed impatient. Didn't return as requested for some changes. We were comfortable waiting for their availability. Did call before showing up and worked hard while here. Nice person onsite who responded OK to a few additions, but didn't complete everything asked. Mulching OK.. When finished just left. No one asked us to walk around yard and check work. If you're proud of your work, you don't just walk away. For the price, one should expect a little more attentive service.

The third week of March I sent John Henehan an email and pictures of one of the drains and pop-up they installed last year. The winter freeze/thaw cycle had caused the drain to rise above the surface of the ground a bit in several places.
John agreed that it may be necessary after an especially harsh winter to redo the line. He said he would send out the same crew that had installed the drain last April and charge me a maintenance fee.
Several days later Mike came out and we discussed what would be done.
On March 30th Mike and his crew dug up the line, set it aside and redug the trench.
They did the same for the pop-up drain at the curb.
The following day they returned to put the drain back in the tench and cover it with new gravel. At the curb the used fresh mulch around the pop-up.
On Friday, after steady rain on Thursday, John called to see how everything was working.
I told John the drains appeared to be working great and asked about the bill.
John said there would be NO CHARGE. Oakwood was going to take care of it as normal maintenance!
(we did agree to a maintenance charge next year if we had another tough winter)
What a great company to work with - I couldn't be more pleased.

Had a discrepancy between the estimate and final bill but after speaking with Jeff issue resolved. Pop up drain covers we unseating. I called and explained the issue, Jeff had his guys out within a couple days to resolve the issue. Overall, the service was very good. The only drawback is that it took a month from the time I received an estimate and when the company came out to do the job.

"[Member Name], I do apologize for any inconvenience, we did have an employee in the office over the summer that did not do a very good job of organizing the work orders and as a result some of them got delayed. As far as the bill goes it was not our intention to leave off the dump fee it was an accident but we do have to pay to get rid of the debris. Tax is just standard on all of the work that we do. Again I do apologize for the misunderstanding."

Jeff (Henehan) did the estimates himself.
He personally followed up after the jobs were done with another house call to resolve a concern.
The estimate calls were excellent. Jeff explained everything in great detail and gave very reasonable estimates.
The work was completely quickly and professionally within a couple of weeks of the estimates - as promised.
After two months there was an issue with one of the drains.
Jeff came out to assess the situation in less than a week after I called.
He agreed that the drain needed to be adjusted and sent out a full crew in less than ten days.
The crew (led by Mike) redug the path of the pipe and added several swales. Mike replaced the original gravel with larger size.
I expected to pay for the addition of the swales, but Jeff insisted the work was to be done at no charge (on a Saturday)!
I would use Oakwood Lawn & Landscaping again without hesitation. Their knowledge, professionalism and expert work crews are beyond reproach.
In these days when homeowners feel lucky when a contractor returns their call - it is wonderful to deal the Jeff and his company!

A two person crew showed up first thing in the morning that service was scheduled and got right to work. Yard was cut and the driveway and side walk areas were edged and the yard looked great. Service was performed bi-weekly and I will be using them again starting in the spring for the same services.

Owner was great to work with and price very reasonable for amount if work completed. My only complaint was they didn't fully clean up paving stones they needed move.

The crew showed up when expected. The time allocated and the final cost exceeded the estimate because they agreed to additional work once the crew had arrived. I don't know if they are a little more expensive than their competitors but we were satisfied with their work. The yard looked very nice and all the yard waste was removed by them. We would use this company again.

Charged me $80/hr and started the charges before they even started the work. I feel like they wasted at least 25 minutes just walking around and not doing any work. No one told me about the $30 fee for them to come to my home or the $25 for the hauling fee. They charged me $10 to work on my driveway and they didn't even do the whole driveway. I am confused as of why I got the driveway charge when I paid an hourly fee. When you are paying 480/hr, you wouldn't expect to look out at the workers and see someone wasting time smoking a cigarette. On top off all of this they charged me $26.25 in tax but I am not sure it that is accurate either.

"The customer was told upfront that we charge $40.00/hour per man when it is a time and material job for landscaping. The customer refused to come out of the house and show us what they wanted done so the 10 minutes that we took to walk around the property was to make sure we knew exactly what was going on and where. There is not a $30.00 fee we have a drive time fee of 15 minutes for gas. There is a dump fee on properties where we haul away debris because we have to pay for the dump. The $10.00 charge for the driveway was for the roundup product which was applied. Again we have to pay for that product so that is why the customer was charged. We did complete the spraying of the driveway. The sales tax is 7% which is the same with every customer, and we have to charge this. We apologize for any inconvenience we did credit for the driveway spraying that the customer was unhappy with. Sincerely, Oakwood Lawn and Landscaping"

The only reason I didn't give an 'A' overall was that it took a while from the time I got my estimate until the time the work was actually completed and necessitated several phone calls on my part. The work however, is great.

He did it enough for me to get out of my driveway, however, he wasn't able to get it all up. I have a small driveway, and I feel that I was overcharged.

I called Oakwood Lawn about the snow removal, and he said to send him whatever I felt was adequate for the job that was done. He said he was tired of hearing about money, and I could tell that he was getting other complaints about the price. The original price was $64.00 with. I sent him $44.00 for the job that he did, but I would still not hire him again.

"In response to the customers complaint the snow was packed down, as it had been driven over for days. I informed the lady at the time of the snow removal that I would be unable to get up all the snow. She said that was fine and that she would be able to get out. As far as me being tired of hearing about money, I told her that I did not want to argue about money and to please send me whatever she thought was fair. As far as getting other complaints I have not received any and this is the only one that I have received regarding pricing. The original price was $45, the price increased to $64 with tax, because there was over 6 inches of snow on the driveway we charge a third more to remove the snow. I explained this to her and she was not pleased with this. That is when I told her to send whatever she felt was fair. She sent $44 as payment for the snow removal. I called the lady after receiving payment, and apologized to her for any inconvenience that was caused."

I originally contacted via phone to request a lawn aeration. The receptionist was pleasant, then asked me if I needed someone to come out to give estimate or simply schedule the work and be billed later. I chose to schedule, and be billed. About 1 month passed and when I returned home from work, I noticed the work had been completed. Did quality job, and cleaned all debris. recieved bill in mail within 1 week, and was pleasantly surprised by the 100.00 fee as my yard is almost an acre. Will hire again in the future and would recommend to a friend.
