Johnstown, Ohio?I figured I was in luck and scheduled them.
Ron completed my furnace conversion, but the natural gas plumbing work was delayed and gas could not be turned on by the time Ron finished. Ron explained that he replaced the orifices & pressure spring and set the ?manifold pressure? to factory
specs. He assured my wife the furnace was ready to go once the gas was turned on.
When the plumber completed the gas work he and the guy from the gas company told me I was ready for the furnace guy to fire the furnace and set the manifold pressure. Wait, what? I told them Ron had already set the manifold pressure ? They looked at me kind of funny and the gas company guy said it could not be set accurately without the gas being on. He also told me the ?heat rise? would need checked and assured me that neither can be accurately completed without the furnace actually on and heating.
Confused I called Ron and explained what they had said. Ron assured me he set the pressure to factory specs and insisted nothing further was needed.
Concerned, I started to research this and found numerous internet posts and YouTube videos that all clearly stated to set the manifold pressure you must: (1) Turn on the gas (2) Fire the furnace (3) Set the manifold pressure (special test tool) and (4) Check the heat rise. (?Fire? the furnace means actually having it on and heating) I also read that having the pressure too high or too low would damage the heat exchanger over time, which typically means a buying a new furnace due to high repair cost.
I called Ron and explained what I had learned. Ron told me he has been doing this for 27 years and the setting he made would be fine. I insisted he return and check the manifold pressure, but he declined. He eventually became (IMO) unprofessional and actually asked me if I wanted to do his job.
I called Bryant Corporate to file a complaint and GUESS WHAT?Ron is not associated with Bryant Service? His last name is Bryant and is a one man shop called Bryant Heating and Cooling. The Bryant Corporation does not even list him as a service provider and suggested I call a real Bryant furnace rep to come out and check my furnace. I called a REAL Bryant serviceman from the Bryant website and they came right out.
NOW GUESS WHAT - The furnace would not even come on! Seems Ron forgot to re-reconnect a wire? And when the manifold pressure was checked it was at 1.89 W/C?factory specs call for a setting between 3.2 and 3.8 W/C. This would have DEFINITELY caused my furnace to not function properly and would have likely ruined the heat exchanger leading me to buy a new furnace? Not good!
I wonder how many other times Ron has made this mistake in his 27 years of experience. I am certainly not qualified to do Ron?s job as he suggested, but from this experience I don?t believe he is either.
Bryant did a unsatisfactory job. I asked if it was working and was told yes. Turned on air and the filter does not work. I also have a gaping hold in the return part of the furnace. The electronic air cleaner is not in the same condition was when they arrived.
Made another call said will be out Monday July 7th at noon. It is now 1 PM no show no call.
I'm very happy with the speed and excellent service. I didn't even worry about my home warranty with how quick and simple the issue was resolved. Thanks! I'm very happy with the service.
"First issue to address is the incorrect address you've listed. My records show a repair on Grimes Rd in Columbus, I have no records of any repairs completed in Hebron. So I will assume the address was misrepresented in your complaint. With that being said, if you were not satisfied with the estimate you were quoted why was this not brought to our attention at the time of service or in a more timely fashion? You were given a verbal estimate at the time of service before any work was started. Your complaint states the part in question was a contactor located on the outside unit. The part we replaced is located in the furnace for the inside blower motor, not on the outside unit as your stating. The repairs made as noted on invoice are as follows: Replaced blower motor relay, part cost $26.10, Replaced one 5 amp fuse, part cost $1.00, Upon start up unit was low on freon, we added 2.5 lbs of freon, cost $125.00. Performed leak check, no leaks found. The repairs made furthermore came with a 5 year parts and labor warranty. The system was in good working condition when we left back on May 3rd, it is now July 7th. We have had inclimate weather in the last week causing many power outages and surges that have effected many A/C systems. It does seem somewhat suspect that you are just now filing a complaint on our repair made back on May 3rd. If indeed our repair failed , we warranty all repairs, parts and labor for 5 years, excluding acts of God, and would have been more than happy to come out and take a look, free of charge. However, we were not given that opportunity. We would however welcome the opportunity to meet with the licensed contactor you hired to make your recent repair to assure we are referring to the part in question. Please contact us should you decide to faciliate the meeting. We take any complaint seriously as our customer satification is our number one goal. Ron Bryant Owner especially after all the power outages and power surges across the columbus area in the past week.we stand behind all our repairs for 5 years parts and labor.why werent we called back?now that another company has worked on your unit the warranty is now voided.to sum up your complaint seems very odd after 2 months your just now filing a complaint.if there was a problem about an estimate you should have adressed it at that time. Ron Bryant owner."

"what the client has failed to state was that she wanted it repaired asap before leaving to go out of town and the part had to be overnighted to our facility so the repair could be made.she also didnt state that we had to be at her residence 2 times once for diagnoses and the second for the repair.total hours locating part and paying for overnight freight and actual replacement was 2.5 hrs.also all our parts come with a 2 year parts and labor warranty."
