MIDAS AUTO SERVICE

I was able to get my car into Midas and waited not too long for them to be finished with new brake pads. I also needed one caliper replaced. They were very busy but were able to hold it together.

Was hearing an intermittent and very annoying and quot;squealingand quot; sound evidently coming from my wheels/brakes. Phoned Midas at 7845 Broadview Rd in Seven Hills. Explained problem, asked if I needed to make an appointment - I would need to wait there while any work was done - or if I could just drive up there right away. I was told to come right in. I arrived about 15 minutes later. Service technician took my car for a test drive, then removed all four wheels and did a free brake inspection. Technician called me in to service bay, showed me the problems on the brake system. Technician recommended. for both rear tires, removing/replacing the brake pads, calipers and rotors. He said the front brakes were in much better shape, only recommended and quot;front caliper slide serviceand quot; (clean and lube caliper anchors, slides, spindle housing and bolts). He told me the work on the two rear brakes would cost about $690, and he would do the clean and lube on the front brakes for free. I agreed to the price, told them to go ahead and do the work. Work was completed, and the car test-driven by the technician, in a bit under two hours. Final price was $690.21, which consisted of : Parts - $509.97 Labor - $105.60 Shop Supplies - $25.00 and Sales Tax $49.64. On my way home, the previous squealing noises were blessedly absent.

They did a good job.

After arriving home from errands, noticed rear driver side tire very low. Thought about putting small and quot;temporary spareand quot; on in its place - found out Dodge made their spare on the Grand Caravan almost impossible to get at. Neighbor temporarily re-inflated my leaking tire with an air compressor, so I could drive to Midas at 5:30 pm without having to first change the tire to the inaccessible temporary spare.Midas removed the tire, found a broken piece of a bolt stuck in it, about one inch long and over a quarter inch in diameter. They repaired and reinstalled the tire. They would not charge me anything at all for the repair. I told them I also wanted to order a new, full size spare, to be mounted on a rim, so in future I would not need to be dependent on that impossible to access temporary spare Dodge provided. They told me to check back Wednesday, they would give me an estimate on a new P225/65R16 tire and 16and quot; rim. When I called Wednesday morning and approved the estimate of $449.27, they told me I could pick up the tire/rim anytime after 3pm. I picked it up at 3:30. The service - especially the emergency service Monday evening - was very fast, and greatly appreciated, as it left me good to go early Tuesday morning, so I was not delayed from work. Very good choice for fast service.

GOOD SERVICE. TESTED CHARGING SYSTEM, AND OTHER PARTS OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEFORE REPLACING BATTERY, FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. DID NOT TRY TO SELL ME ANY EXTRA WORK. VERY HONEST. I PULLED IN WITH NO APPOINTMENT, WAS ON MY WAY, WITH ALL WORK DONE, IN LESS THAN AN HOUR.
