My wife and I were incredibly pleased with the quality of the work. Barney, the owner, is easy to deal with and has great attention to detail. The pricing was fair and exactly what he promised.

They were fantastic, the work was flawless. I have had several bathroom/kitchen remodels and never had every aspect be perfect. It was on time as promised. I will hire them to do my kitchen, in fact I will wait until they can fit me in to do the work. Rarely do you find remodelers you can completely trust, but they are the exception.

Barney and his crew were exceptional. He was one of the first to respond and provide a quote, which was very reasonable, and quoted 2 weeks to complete vs 4-5 weeks from others. His workmanship, ideas and attention to detail were great. The couple of subs he used (electrical and plumbing) were good, showed up as scheduled, etc. I’ve already recommended him to a friend. Excellent all around.

Wow, you should see the work that Barney did on our upstairs bathroom remodel!!! Just incredible workmanship with considerable and constant attention to detail. It looks like something out of a magazine or HGTV. He is easy to work with, is very conscientious and accommodating, has great ideas and suggestions, and definitely goes the extra mile to create a masterpiece as if it were his own home. Our project was a second floor bathroom, so we needed to hire a pro to make sure it was 100% waterproof on the first go and he certainly delivered there....he uses the Schluter system extensively. You will not be disappointed having him do his magic in your home. We're ready to have him do the rest of the house!

Barney did a fantastic job renovating our kitchen and deserves an A+ rating. He charged us a very fair price, and he was able to start work much quicker than any other contractor could. The entire renovation only took him four days to complete. The quality of his work is amazing! We absolutely love the finished product. Also, Barney kept in contact with me regularly throughout the process. As soon as he completed the kitchen, we put our house on the market. We sold our house very quickly, and the value of our house increased because of what a great job Barney did on the kitchen... it was the #1 compliment the potential buyers had for the property. Barney Bakai layed the tile in our bathroom as we just had our bathroom remodeled. Barney is an artist at laying tile. He takes pride in his work and wants to make sure the customer is completely satisfied. He answered our questions and offered suggestions which was a big help to us. Barney was very detailed and made sure to leave the worksite clean. He is a very nice young man who is skilled in his work. Our bathroom is beautiful!!! We give Barney an A+ for the tile work he did for us, It was truly a pleasure to work with him and we will always be grateful for his help in making our "dream bathroom" a reality.

Our old building is difficult to work in but Barney and the plumber he used did an excellent job and we are very pleased with the results.

Bakai Construction did an excellent job with installing electric floor heating in the kitchen, followed by porcelain tile. Our home is nearly 90 yrs old with an uneven kitchen floor and they were able to level the area to perfection. We were very pleased with the outcome.

He was punctual, courteous, personable and extremely polite. The job was completed in a highly professional manner. He was efficient and wasted no time getting started. The areas where he worked were immaculate upon completion. He walked around the house with me to make sure I was satisfied before leaving. I was delighted to discover that he even did some extra work in areas he felt needed it at no additional charge. I would hire him again in a minute and recommend him without reservation.

Barney was courteous, punctual and very knowledgeable. He went over all of "problems" that could be causing our leak and then proceeded, after our approval, to order the part. After the part came in, he was very quick to set up a service date. He took off his shoes when he came for the service and also had all the tools required. He is very good at problem solving as well. We had an excellent experience with him and would most definitely hire him again.

Barney was always courteous and conscientious. He was very open to making adjustments during the project and was reasonable with the charges when we requested additional work. His assistant, Jim, was also extremely pleasant and they both worked hard throughout the project to ensure things were done correctly and to our satisfaction. The final results were excellent and although we don't anticipate having any trouble with our new bathroom, we fully expect that Barney would be responsive if any problems were to arise.

I cannot give Barney enough accolades. The quality of his work is superb. He communicates well; is open to suggestion and has a creative mind. Both my wife and I are more than pleased with his work.

Top class, looks like a show home now. Always updating us of the project status, we were never left to guess.

My wife and i were very impressed with Barney and his crew. They were very professional, skilled, and thorough. We had a few contractors here and none of them wanted to do the crown molding. The layout really called upon someone who is highly skilled and we were not disappointed. It was easy to see that They are very customer service oriented, they consistently asked for feedback from us every step of the way. I have every intention of hiring them for my next job.

Barney and his subcontractors do excellent work.  I'm very pleased with the outcome of all the projects.  I did not rate the price category because I did not get estimates from any other contractor, but his price seemed fair.  Barney is very nice, respectful, and receptive to the customer.  It took about 3.5 weeks to get the work done, and I would've liked to have had it done more quickly, but I understand that he and his subcontractors have other jobs that they're working simultaneously.  He and his crew are meticulous and use care when working, and I couldn't be happier.  I will definitely use Bakai Construction in the future for my remodeling needs.

He was able to solve a problem the two previous contractors could not.  The old floor was removed and a new floor installed correctly.  It looks much better aesthetically and functions perfectly. They even re-installed the shower door better than it was originally installed. I highly recommend Bakai Construction for any bathroom remodeling project.

Barney wrote a new contract saying he was in charge of remodeling the two bathrooms.

Barney?s definition of remodeling includes gutting everything but not putting it back.

He stated that he would put everything back except for the fixtures. He labeled the toilet and sink as fixtures so he wouldn?t have put those back. In the contract he stated that his painter would prime and paint the ceiling, trim, and door, however Barney only instructed his painter to paint one side of the door.

In the contract Barney stated that he would install a Schluter heated floor and thermostat. Barney did not put in the thermostat and he had us purchase and install the necessary measuring tools and to the test for the 25 year product warrantee.

 

The biggest and most costly thing was when he was building the showers. He was told and saw during the walk through, that there would be glass doors that would need to go back in after the shower was rebuilt. He did not accurately check the measurements before demolition. The measurements were not correct and when he rebuilt the shower opening it was too small. As a result I am forced to purchase another door. Barney told me that he was not responsible for the height and clearing of the door and that it was the plumber?s fault.

He refused to put the sink or the toilet back. Bakai said "this is a fixture."  A sink and a toilet are furniture I reminded him! (our plumber/electrician was ready to install both ASAP)  I pleaded with Bakai to put in the sink and toilet in the Master bathroom.

I told Barney that I only wanted his worker Derick to install the tile in the bathrooms and he did a beautiful job in the Master Bathroom. Barney installed the tile in the guest bathroom and installed it incorrectly including the bull nose tile.

He texted and called several times and was completely unprofessional. He was abusive and threatening and even threatened to walk off the job several times.

DRYWALL INSTALLATION IN BOTH BATHROOMS WAS NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY AS A RESULT: THE PLUMBER/ELECTRICIAN IS UNABLE TO ATTACHED TOWELS BARS, TOILET PAPER HOLDER, MIRROROS, SHELVES ETC.  THE SCREWS ARE ALL POPPING OUT BECAUSE THE DRYWALL IS NOT FLUSH ?TIGHTENED TO THE STUDDS IN THE WALL!! IN ADDTION BATHROOM VENT WAS NOT INSTALLED BY BAKAI, AND VENT DOES NOT FIT THE DUCYWORK ----    ALL NEEDS TO BE REDONE AS WELL!! THE SEALANT IN THE GUEST BATHROOM WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY, AND AS A RESULT IT IS BLOTCHY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN IT. 


IN RESPONSE TO BAKAI:

THE OTHER CONTRACTOR WAS HIRED FOR THE JOB AS A PLUMBER AND ELECTRICIAN.  BAKAI AGREED SINCE HE DOES NOT DO PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK!
BAKAI AGREED TO TILE AND PAINT - UNFORTUNATELY ALL THE PAINT IS NOW PEELING SINCE IT WAS NOT SANDED, PRIMED AND PAINTED CORRECTLY.
REMODEL MEANS TO PUT THE FURNITURE BACK IN THE BATHROOMS. A TOILET AND A SINK ARE CONSIDERED FURNITURE- WHICH THE PLUMBER WAS ON STAND BY READY TO HOOK UP ASAP.
THE LIGHTS, SWITCH PLATES, MIRRORS, TOWEL BARS ETC. ARE FIXTURES!! INSTALLED BY OUR PLUMBER/ ELECTRICIAN!

THE 60 YR OLD MARBLE 2 INCH THRESHOLD IN THE MASTER BATHROOM WAS REMOVED BUT NOT REPLACED AS AGREED UPON WITH BAKAI- INSTEAD HE INSTALL A CHEAP THIN METAL STRIP.

NO LIES WERE TOLD TO BAKAI ONLY THE TRUTH WHICH BAKAI DOES NOT WANT TO HEAR.

MY INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTH BATHROOMS WERE COMMUNICATED IN A VERY DIRECT CLEAR MANNER.  

UNFORTUNATELY BAKAI CHOSE NOT TO LISTEN TO ME.

FOR THE RECORD THE PLUMBER/ELECTRICIAN WAS NOT THE BOSS OR A CONTRACTOR ON THIS JOB!   UPDATE 4/5/2016: WHEN WE FIRST TURNED ON THE WATER, IT IMMEDIATELY STARTED SPREADING UNDER THE TILE IN THE FLOOR. THERE IS ALSO NO BULLNOSE ON THE SHOWER CURB WHEN YOU STEP INTO THE SHOWER - THAT MEANS IT'S LITERALLY JUST SHARP, RAW GLASS TILES. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THE BATHROOM. THE FLOOR IS POROUS TO WATER, THE SHOWER IS UNSAFE TO USE, AND THE FLOOR IS NOT SEALED CORRECTLY. YOU CAN SEE THE WATER SETTLED IN PUDDLES UNDER THE SHOWER FLOOR AND THE BATHROOM FLOOR, SINCE IT'S CLEAR GLASS TILE. IN THE BATHROOM THEY DID FOR US IN 2014, THEY SEALED IT CORRECTLY, WHICH YOU CAN TELL BECAUSE THE WATER BEADS RATHER THAN BEING ABSORBED INTO THE FLOOR. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN ON EITHER OF THE SHOWERS THEY JUST DID FOR US, WHICH SHOWS THEY WERE NOT SEALED CORRECTLY. BAKAI OFFERED TO COME BACK TO FIX HIS WORK, SHOWING HE MADE SOME MISTAKES. BECAUSE OF HIS THREATS AND THE FACT THAT I HAD TO GO TO THE POLICE FOR PROTECTION, HE IS NO LONGER ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES, SO THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION.

Barney did a great job.  He responds to email really well, which made working with him much easier than with other contracts.  He brought in subcontractors for the plumbing, electrical, and painting work, as well as had a couple of people to help him with cabinets and tile.  He really cares about doing a good job and we are pleased with the results.  As an example, he built our shower floor slightly tilted towards the drain so that it drains really well.
I have seen some reviews criticizing his plumber, Harold.  I admit that Harold has a tendency to describe jobs as difficult to do, and he did always want to talk to my husband about plumbing instead of me (a woman).  However, personality clashes aside, the actual work he performed was fine, and we didn't have any issues with it.  All the other subcontractors Barney used were very pleasant and performed their work well, too.
Another great thing about working with Barney is that he guided us through many of the selection processes, telling us what would and wouldn't work, and helping us deal with the company he recommends for glass doors and mirrors.
I really felt as if Barney was our partner on this project, and I would recommend him without reservation.

I had a great experience with this company.  Barney communicated in a timely manner and was able to get the job done within the time frame specified.  Also, after getting three quotes, he had the best price.  The only hiccup was getting him to start on the project.  Once that was in place, I had absolutely no problems.  I would recommend them to anyone.

Bakai construction completed a full renovation of our master bathroom shower and replaced the flooring in a separate jack and jill bathroom.  The project went very well from start to finish and Barney was great to work with throughout the process.  Barney provided a written estimate within 2 days of his visit and the estimate was for the exact amount that was billed at the end of the project.  Barney and his team removed the existing brass shower frame, ceramic tile, and the fiberglass shower base.  New travertine stone tile was installed on the walls, floor, and bench.  His plumber installed new shower hardware to match the new design and everything has worked as expected.  Barney also coordinated the measurement and installation of the new frameless shower door with our glass provider which made the whole process much easier for us to manage.  The project took 2.5 weeks and we are thrilled with the results.
In addition to the shower project, the team also removed the ceramic tile floor from our kids bathroom and replaced it with new tile that better matched the new design of that bathroom.  This project was done start to finish in 4 days, including the demo, installation, and grouting.  
Special thanks to Barney and Derek (who did the tile work) for making the process easy for us and doing a really high quality job in both rooms.  Once we exchanged cell numbers, we were able to handle almost the entire project via text messaging which was helpful given work demands.

Fantastic.  Barney was really great to work with.  He is very knowledgeable and will provide as much professional guidance as you would like as you sort through all of the choices that need to be made when remodeling a bathroom.  The master bath was totally refinished.  The shower was enlarged and tiled with decorative design.  A new "claw foot" bath tub was installed in place of a builtin tub.  New tile floored installed with a design that "tied in" to the shower tile.  A new vanity was installed along , new mirror, lighting and paint.
