Called Paul due to his close proximity to the repair job. Explained to him on the phone, I had a GE profile refrigerator that was failing to keep proper temperature. I specifically asked him if he did refrigerator repair work, he said he did. Upon arrival he uncovered the "evaporator" coil, saw frost on the coil, and immediately claimed refrigerator had "freon" leak, and the refrigetator was "not worth fixing".( I paid $2000.00 for this refrigerator about 7 years ago!) This conclusion was based without attemptimg to put any head pressure gauges, to scientifically confirm low freon pressure. This is the norm when diagnosing a low freon problem. He at that time informed me he was unlicensed to do "refrigeration" work. Therefore he had no gauges or the ability to purchase the necessary freon to even attempt to fix the problem. I own a restaurant small freon leaks do occur, and can easily be fixed, but you have to own the equipment to detect them, locate them and repair them. Scrapping the appliance is the last resort , not the first!! Paul then handed me my $50.00 service charge invoice, Was shocked. He was unqualified to do the work he previously had told me he was qualified to do. His reccomendation to throw the refrigerator away was based solely on the observation made of "frost" in the refrigerator. I paid the invoice, I knew the refrigeator wasn't working , I didn't need to pay someone else $50.00 , to "confirm" this, I wanted to have the problem fixed. This guy in nothing more than a "handyman" pretending to be a qualified large appliance repairman. My $50.dollars has taught me a lesson. ASK IF THEY ARE LICENSED, IF THEY ARE NOT OR CAN NOT PROVE THEY ARE, DO NOT HIRE.
