Description of Work: Tear off, replace wood and put on new garage roof. Everything went well from first call to clean up and completion of job.

Description of Work: When I first hired them to replace my roof I had no leaks. After about 5-7 years my "new" roof developed a leak over my living room. After several unsuccessful attempts to stop the leak on my roof under warranty we no longer qualified for free labor. I paid $300 for M R Plank to repair my roof again. Despite several missed appointments and/or attempts to repair the roof I still have a leak in my living room. I need a pail in my living room to collect the water and ceiling pieces. In addition, we also have a leak that has developed on our screened-in porch. About 3 weeks ago I called to to request a repair on my roof since it only leaks periodically but have had no response. To sum it up, my old roof had no leaks and my new roof has been plagued by unrepaired leaks for years.

Description of Work: Remove 3 layers of roof tiles and install a new layer. The flat roof over the sun room they did it 3 times and were not able to solve the problem that we had with water leaking around the sky light during the winter.

Description of Work: My wife and I were fixing up an inherited 1970's split level for sale, and discovered a problem with the roof had caused severe water damage near the chimney. The leak resulted in a separate $4000 repair bill to the interior of the house. We used M R Plank off of a recommendation from a family member, and from the ratings we found on Angie's List. Needless to say I was expecting much better service than what I received. | |The pre-sale experience was very pleasant. The sales rep came out to the house, and went up to the roof and explained to us where the leak was coming from. My wife went up on the roof with him and he showed her how just walking around in the area of the leak was squishy and soft. He convinced us the roof needed to be replaced completely, and we would likely need new plywood panels where the damage was at its worst. We accepted the assessment, and hired M R Plank to replace the roof and replace any panels that were damaged by the water. They helped us finance the repair, and were able to schedule the roof replacement in a timely manner. | |The quality of the new roof looks to be pretty decent. However, when we were going through the final inspection, we noticed that the crew had thrown the old shingles off the roof and damaged a wooden handrail we had installed at the front porch steps. There was a crack running down the entire length of the handrail, and the impact from the shingles loosened it from the support posts to the point where it not only looked bad, but was potentially dangerous for people to use it to climb the stairs. We also noticed on the final bill that there was no charge for any replaced plywood panels in the area of the roof where the water damage was worst. We mentioned to the project manager assigned to our job that we wanted them to fix the broken handrail, and asked them why none of the plywood panels were replaced, when clearly the roof was spongy and soft during the pre-sale inspection. The project manager agreed to fix the broken handrail, and said he had to check with the crew on why none of the plywood panels were replaced. | |The next time we went to the house to inspect the repaired handrail, we found that the "fix" was to apply a coat of spray paint to the existing handrail. A coat of paint that was nowhere near the color that we had painted the handrail in the first place. And the guy oversprayed the paint onto the brick face on the front of the house. When our project manager explained that the same guy who "fixed" the handrail that his crew damaged made the assessment to not replace any of the plywood panels on the roof that seemed so squishy and wet during our pre-sale inspection, we became suspicious of the overall quality of the work done. | |To their credit, Mr. Plank (the owner of the company) personally came out to the house to inspect the work his crew had done. He had them replace the handrail (although my wife and I had to attach it properly to the support posts and paint it ourselves). However, he was adamant that the assessment to not replace the plywood paneling was the correct decision (and they weren't about to rip up the brand new roof they had just put on). It took a tremendous amount of back and forth, but we finally convinced them to allow transfer of the warranty to the new owners of the home. | |Overall I am not happy with the work that they have done, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
