George provided the inspection for a 10 year old home we purchased in September of 2012. We couldn't be happier with the service he provided. His experience and curiosity really paid off as George spotted an issue with the fireplace that would have cost us thousands of dollars down the road. George is thorough and responsive.

I used Jellison Inspection based on word-of-mouth recommendation from a coworker and am extremely pleased with the quality of service he performed. His recommendation came with the warning, and quot;He is the one buyers love and the one sellers hateand quot;. Simply put, if it's within the scope of the inspection and there's a problem, George is going to find it. I had a few inspectors picked out from Angie's List but gave George the first call. He was pleasant to talk to, knowledgeable about his line of work, and really gave the impression he takes his work seriously.
George advised his inspection (2,500 sq.ft. house) would take between 3 1/2 and 4 hours. On the day of the inspection, he showed up about 40 minutes early to get a head start on the roof. By the time I arrived (about 10 minutes early), he was already ready to have a first conversation about his findings. And this is his style: George kept me involved through communication through much of his inspection. If he finds a problem, he'll talk to me about it, explaining what he sees, and tries to get me to understand why things go wrong under these particular circumstances.
He kept true to his time frame and we finished on time. That afternoon, I left with carbon-copies of the inspection report and by that evening, I received what he calls and quot;the storyand quot; of my property, which is a detailed conversation-toned description of his findings. This story is extremely helpful because he communicates in near layman's terms what's going on with the house and about how to do many of the repairs yourself. The story also contains copies of the onsite checklist and photos of his findings (the whole thing is 24 pages). This report is so helpful because it makes a lot more sense than seeing just the checklist that other inspectors provide and because I can't remember everything we talked about during the inspection. Whatever I forgot, it's okay because it's repeated again in the final report.
One nice tip he gave: He asked if the house comes with a home warranty. Since it does, he suggested we get an HVAC specialist out to diagnose and eliminate any preexisting conditions on the heat pump. In his experience, home warranties do not cover any preexisting issues (which could mean anything with an older unit) so you first need to get it checked out and tuned up to get the warranty company to honor the unit's coverage and repairs. Once that happens, you've eliminated any preexisting issues with the system and it'll be tougher for them to dicker with you.

I have considerable understanding of home building and codes since all my immediate family worked in construction and I renovated 2 homes myself. I was truely thrilled with George's service. He told us he has 33 years and 7,000 plus home inspections worth of knowledge and experience. It showed!
He was beyond through and inspected our home for over 4 hours. Those hours do not include the time he spent later writing the report. His attention to detail is second to none. He inspects like he was buying the home for himself and is careful with each detail of the report to give a most accurate inspection possible. He takes time to explain each step of what he is looking at and will teach you all about the care and upkeep of your home. He was very careful in his verbal assessment and followed up by writing each piece of information down in the inspection report exactly as he states. His punctuality, courtesy, and knowledge are beyond reproach. He was quick to respond to our questions that arose after the inspection was completed. We are grateful we chose him, I wouldn't use anyone else.

George was fantastic. His recommendation came to us with the note of and quot;he will find a lotand quot; and that is exactly what we wanted. I spoke with George on a Wednesday, and the inspection was completed two days later on Friday. He has been in the industry for over 30 years, and has been involved in over 7,000 jobs. He spent a little over 3 hours at the house, and within 24 hours sent an extremely detailed 25 page report via email - or as he calls and quot;storyand quot; regarding the house. 15 pages were the forms he used while performing the inspection, while the other 10 pages was the and quot;story.and quot; This will prove invaluable during our move to the new house and for years to come. Right off the bat, the major problems are noted, complete with pictures, with recommendations on how and what to fix. Following the major concerns are additional maintenance items and concerns (again, some with pictures when needed) to either fix, or monitor on an as needed basis. We plan to use this not only during our move, but also as a 'maintenance manual' for the home as it lists so many specifics and potential problem areas to keep an eye on.

The radon test was performed on the same day, and after that was complete, the test results were again immediately sent to us via email. About 5 days after the tests were complete, we received printed copies of all the reports in the mail, along with some helpful information regarding home inspections and radon.

From start to finish, I could not have hoped for better service and assessment. I highly recommend Jellison Inspection for both general home inspections and radon inspections.

George Jellison did our inspections during our home search and in total, ended up inspecting 3 separate homes. He was absolutely wonderful. Nothing slips by him and he saved us an enormous amount of money and trouble by detecting some serious problems in the first two homes he inspected. In addition, since we've purchased the third home and have been living there he has been available for follow-up questions etc on several occasions. As new homeowners he has helped us tremendously by both teaching us about certain aspects of our home and by referring us to wonderful contractors, electricians etc to do the work that we need. He is very responsive, always answers his phone and gets back to us immediately. We couldn't recommend him more strongly - he really is an invaluable resource!

Right off the bat, George knew who built our house (Ken Payne) as he is a retired contractor in Hudson. He spent 6 hours in the home and provided detailed inspection reports. George did not sugar-coat anything and gave us a thorough accounting of the home's condition. Additionally, he provided information on how to properly maintain the home. Given the condition of the home, we decided to pull out of the contract unless the seller remedied major issues with the home. The seller (a bank) took the home off the market and did remedy one of the major issues. When the home went back on the market, we were there with an offer that took into account George's findings and ended up getting the house for what it was truly worth. Now that we own the house, we often reference George's inspection report as we tick off the list of improvements that need to be done to it. Essentially, his inspection report is our owner's manual for the home. Additionally, George has been willing to provide contractor referrals when we've asked for them, even several months after his initial inspection.

He was excellent! I bought the house three years ago, and had another company inspect it at that time. Some things were missed, so I had Jellison come out. Jellison had great tools at their disposal. For example, they had inferred cameras which detected areas in the walls that are not insulated. Also, they were able to detect moisture in areas where it wasn’t clearly visible.
