I had been using Mcclurg for the last 3 years. I only used them because the previous owners had used them and said they were the cheapest. I have not had any issues with the technicians who serviced my irrigation system but the office staff was terrible to deal with. When scheduling my irrigation system to be turned on, I noticed a cracked pipe and notified the office staff about it when I scheduled my system to be turned on. The technician who came out, was courteous and professional. And as I later found out, is the company president! He got right to work running the system, checking the heads and then attempted to fix the cracked pipe. I was in a virtual meeting, so my boyfriend checked the pipe the pipe and noticed it was leaking. He asked the technician to look at it again before he left. A few minutes later, the technician said it was all fixed and he was leaving. After he left, we looked at the pipe and unfortunately, it was still leaking. I called the office and asked them to send someone back out because the pipe was still leaking. They said they were booked up and would send him out in a week or so. Several days later, I received a bill for: Spring turn on, 4 different irrigation parts, and repair irrigation labor to the tune of over $300. I mistakenly, paid the bill knowing the technician was already scheduled to come back out to correctly fix the pipe. I didn't think about this until after the fact, but I was charged for 4 separate irrigation parts: cap, rebuild kit, fittings and pvc pipe totalling $110 for a 6-8" section of pipe that he seemed to have fixed with glue! I can only assume as a professional company, they would charge customers for only what was used/needed. When, the same technician (again the company president) came back out, he explained that it was probably old glue that he used. He bought a new can of glue and attempted to fixed the pipe again. Roughly 20 minutes after he left, I heard water gushing outside! When I went to see what it was, I found the pipe broke off where he had glued it and water gushing out like a fountain, flooding my yard!! After shutting the waterline off, I called the technician himself, and told him what was happening. He said he would come right out. A few hours later he returned and fixed the pipe correctly. Again, he was very courteous and professional. A week or so later, I received another bill for: service call/repair and irrigation parts for $105.00. My boyfriend called the office and left a voicemail explaining that this was not a new service call, but in fact a continuation from the initial call. He said the pipe was not fixed properly the first time and therefore the technician had to come out a second and third time to correct it. Several days later, I received an email from the office manager saying (direct quote) "He did leave a detailed message about a recent invoice for $105. First, I do not appreciate his statement in his message that we messed something up and didn’t do a good job. That simply is Not true." However, they DID mess it up...several times! She continued to state, and I quote: "I do not want to get into an argument over this. Customers think they are knowledgeable about the subject matter and if that is the case then why call us in the first place?" I was shocked to hear a person in the customer service industry respond that way to a customer! Not the mention the fact that her title is office manager! I guess I figured that somehow the billing department messed up and billed me incorrectly. I understand mistakes happen. So I sent a second email to her, again, explaining the situation was, in that, this was not a second issue and therefore shouldn't be billed a second time. Wow! So she was willing to lose a customer of over 3 years for $105 bill that was an error on their part? Or maybe they are just hoping to overcharge people and hope they don't notice? It wasn't fixed properly the first several times, plan and simple!

Terrible. The cost was 25% over the estimate partly because the crew failed to connect to an existing run next to the house, The junction box is in the front yard. We were told it would be back next to the house. The replacement of grass was also not well done. The most important problem is the 12" X 4" gouge in the new driveway down to the base due to their trenching tool. Marshall refused to talk or even come out look at the problem. After several phone calls the lady in the office said that since the workers didn't write up an incident report they couldn't have done it. After being a good customer for over 25 years the company has gone through significant organizational changes and changes in long time personnel. As with previous customers, the lack of response last fall to many phone calls was extremely frustrating. They don't seem to be responsive to customers, nor stand behind their work, nor their estimates.

After being a customer for two years, they abruptly stopped showing for scheduled mowings. No notice, just didn't show. Before this they had performed acceptable work. I called at least ten times over the course of a week before I was able to speak to an actual person. None of my messages or emails left during this time were returned. The person I spoke with informed me my account was "on hold" with a zero dollar balance. As he had no idea what he was doing I was told to call back and speak with the office manager. Another week, another dozen or so phone calls. Long story short, they didn't want my business- maybe not profitable enough? Whatever the reason though, the complete lack of communication or any semblance of professionalism is enough to earn them a low rating. If you're scheduled for a job, show up. If you're no longer interested, inform the customer. Returning customer phone calls is also polite.

I've been a seasonal customer since 2008. All I have done is a winterization on my sprinkler system. In the fall of 2014 McClerg winterized my system. A few weeks later my neighbor brings me two sprinkler heads that were launcher into his yard when my system was winterized. It was getting cold so I left it broken for the winter. The following year, 2015 I never even turned the sprinkler system on. I forgot about the broken heads until I turned the sprinkler system on in 2016. I call McClerg and tell them what happened. I was told that a technician would be out, but it was going to be a while because they had to take care of their "regular customers" first. A few weeks later a technician repaired both sprinkler heads. A few weeks later I get a bill for parts and labor. So basically McClerg breaks your sprinklers then charges you to repair it. My wife called and spoke to a women who was very rude. I get a call the following day from what I believe was a so called "manager." The manager tells me my story is "far fetched" and states that the bill stands the way it is. Decide for yourself if you want this unprofessional company touching your lawn or sprinklers because if they break something guess who's paying for it, and they'll call you a liar. Never again!

We've been McClurg customers for nearly ten years. ?They put in our irrigation system five years ago and we've had no issues. ?? Additionally, snow removal service is always prompt - very pleased. ?However, overall service from his company has deteriorated significantly over the past 18 months. ?You can't get anyone to answer the phone when you call, and their automated system is exhausting. Our biggest gripe is in the lawn mowing and service area. ?We received our Spring 2016 list of services in March, including rates. ?However,?I was recently notified that our weekly mowing fee is going up 31%. ?The reason: ?"higher labor costs." ?I was?appalled. ?And when I had other firms quote it, I found that the new pricing McClurg was going to charge?is way out of line. This is no longer the service-oriented company we hired many years ago. ?After being a loyal customer for ten years, I've begun to replace their services with?firms that value my business.?

We engaged McClurg for the lawn service since bagging and disposal of the clippings is such a hassle in this area. They use equipment that is too large for the property. They leave as much grass clippings in the back yard as they take away. They recently damaged our front yard gas lamp post but claim no responsibility claiming it has always been damaged. This was the last straw. In their case, speed kills.
As for snow removal, 2-3 years ago they ran the snow plow into our garage door and only admitted to it after called on it and
could not deny damage was done by the plow. Reputable service would admit to causing damage without having to be tracked down.
Their billing is also not timely and we have had several clerical errors over the years that required phone calls and emails to resolve.
Basically they seem to be geared up for larger scale work and are not too friendly to residential customer.
Strongly recommend people consider other options before using McClurg.

Our repairman was prepared to work on our system based on my call to schedule. We just moved into our house and did not know what we would find when we turned the sprinkler system on for the first time. He was very professional, gave me a lesson on how to use the system, calibrated the timing of the system for optimal water usage, etc. They did a great job.

I will be using them in a couple of months to drain the irrigation system and prepare it for the winter. Their pricing is pretty competitive and their quality is good.

Followed instructions about where and when to apply. Have used them to put in my sprinkler system and now they maintain it on a regular basis. They have also prepared areas for my husband to do brickwork. They show up when they say they will and do what they say. Pleasant workers. Have used them for years

I'm very unhappy with McClurg's services at the moment. We had a complaint into them about a dead tree you planted last year and it has still not been replaced (10 months). Also we were to get mulch at the beginning of the season. They sent us a notice that it would be done automatically this year. We finally had to cancel it last week because it is the middle of the summer. Our mulch beds look horrible and we have begged them to come out.  Embarrassing to have weeds in the beds in July.
We'd like a full refund for the tree at this point since we can't get service and have waited for months and months.
On a positive note, I really liked the work that they did and the people were great when we could get you to actually come to the house. I think this is a case of being unable to control their growth. I'm hoping they can get a handle on it because they are good when they get rolling.

Their work was good.  Communication was hard and the prices are expensive.  I know they could work or they do know their work; communication and scheduling was a problem; just pretty much put me on the back burner I guess.  With that amount of money; I would expected way better services especially for landscaping.  Communication for me is more important than the price.  They're very expensive.  Their responsiveness was bad; horrible.

Fall and spring sprinkler service like clockwork. I do not think their landscape design services capabilities are what we had in mind as feedback was delayed and not at all thorough. Am still happy with other services and would recommend.
