The experience with Barnes was an experience in frustration and bad feelings.  I do not like being ripped off of more than $5000.  I do not like hearing that other people are also ripped off.

I contracted in February, 2011, to have a roof and insulation installed.  Chris Barnes, owner, took my $5000 down payment at that time.  I called with the final choice of shingle colors the first week of October.  The secretary said they would definitely install before winter, that I was second or third on the list.  I indicated how important it was to me to complete the job before December 31, 2011, as the tax credit was expiring at that time.  Also, I wanted to lower my heating bill through the winter months.  I called repeatedly to find out when I would be scheduled.  The secretary could give no reason for the delay.

It is now March, 2012 and I have no new roof and no new insulation.  Mr. Barnes does not return my phone calls, and has not since October.   I contacted the BBB.  They contacted Mr. Barnes.  He lied and said I had asked to wait until Spring to install the roof.  The BBB cannot force him to return my money or complete the work.  Hopefully, they will put a notice up that will warn others to avoid this company.

Following my filing with the BBB, I received a letter from Barnes Construction, signed by Chris G. Barnes, saying they would again be installing roofs in March and April.  I'm not very optimistic.  Barnes Construction is no longer at the Osage address and has not opened another store front that I can find.  Also, Mr. Barnes still does not my return phone calls.

Even if the work is completed, I would not recommend this company.  In fact, I would recommend Barnes Construction NOT be used.  It is grossly unprofessional  to treat a customer as I, and my friend, have been treated. Is it criminal, too?  This is a company to avoid at all costs.
