"What a good man to work for. Very large and complicated job with several other particulars not mentioned; replacing a culvert pipe; raising catch basin elevations; getting the elevation right at the gate; building head walls at the culvert; dealing with asphalt plant issues and last but not least...dealing with the rain that seemed to affect every day what should have been a 5 day project. Thru it all, Mr. S was a pleasure to work for and we are so pleased with how his project turned out for him. Thanks Mr. S."
"Thank you for the review. Unfortunately, my company does not offer any seal coating services whatsoever, and has not offered this service for several years. I am not sure who sealed your driveway for you, but I can assure you it was not my company. I do have a brother who works for me in sales and he has, at times, seal coated driveways for paving customers of ours. I do not think you were a paving customer of ours, and if he was the one who seal coated your drive for you, and did not make it clear to you that he was not representing my company, I apologize for this misunderstanding and I will speak to him concerning this matter. What I do know is if my brother is the one who did this for you, and said he would seal it for you again in the spring, this he will do for you. He is a good man and a man of his word. Sorry again for the misunderstanding."
"I have taken the time to carefully consider how to respond to this member. They were good people to work for, and I thought the project turned out excellent. We completed this project in September of 2016. I think we were made aware of their concerns sometime in June of 2017 since it was seal coated in August of 2017. Both my brother and I, at different times, met with the homeowners. I stopped by to look myself at the encouragement of my brother and was able to speak at length with Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. I wanted to respond to a couple of things so there is no misunderstanding. The issues they were having, we have found, and I tried to explain to Mrs. [Member Name Removed], are very common on driveways where there is very little room to pull into and back out of their garage. I would consider their driveway to be one of the narrowest of any we have paved in a number of years, and what this does is limit how far you can pull in and back out before you need to turn the wheels. You are basically forced to stop in the same place, day after day, then turn the wheels, and this over time can cause scuff marks and even begin to loosen the aggregate in the asphalt and create larger pitted areas. Further more, because of the layout of the driveway, this area where the scuffing and loose aggregate was happening was in an area where we had to install it by hand. Again, another very common practice in the industry. I tried to explain to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] when you do any area by hand, raking the asphalt pulls up more stones in this particular area making this appear a little more porous and prone to scuffing when compared to other areas where we used the machine. I mentioned that all you needed to do was keep the car moving when turning the wheels in order to avoid the scuffing. She did mention at that point they never had a problem with it the last time they had it paved 25 years ago. I responded by saying I have found that in my 35 years of paving experience in residential and commercial paving, it has always been a problem in tight areas. I tried to explain that, no matter what we do, when you do the same thing over and over again, turn your wheels in the same place, you will always get the same results. At this point I felt that no matter what I said, I still had a customer that did not accept what I had been saying, and we needed to find a workable solution. We decided I would pay to have the driveway seal coated by a reputable contractor to help fill in the porous areas, and help hide the scuffing that had occurred. Before I wrote this, I spoke again with the seal coating contractor who did the work for me just to make sure I was remembering the conversation that she and her foreman had with the [Member Name Removed] before and after completion. The contractor assured me that she and her foreman made it clear to them if they continued the practice of turning the wheels in the same area day after day, they would continue to scuff the driveway. I was also told the [Member Name Removed] were well pleased with the seal coating project, and the contractor even did other work on their street for a neighbor as a result of this job. My final concern is there may have been a misunderstanding. I never, nor did the seal coating contractor or foreman, ever say this would "alleviate further deterioration". We have all tried to explain if the driving habits did not change, this will continue to be a problem. Again, the [Member Name Removed] are good people, and we did an excellent job for them as did the seal coating contractor."
"Sorry to read about this review, but I am not sure who this customer is or what he means by "show up once, did not call, nobody home, so did not do the work". In contrast he states we performed a service, says it cost $75.00, but I have no record of a contract or performing any service for a customer with this name or on this street. The review is a little confusing, but I apologize if this member thinks we did something that caused him frustration."
