Home Touch Ups Custom Remodeling

The visit from Mike Dooper (of Home TouchUps Company?) was very quick and it felt very rushed,  the provider was far from friendly and honestly seemed "ticked off" about something (maybe he was having a bad day? who knows). There was not much conversation or discussion; Mr. Dooper said that he had done just a kitchen just like that the other day and that he knows what he is doing and off he went. We were told to wait a few days to receive the results but it took significantly longer AND ONLY after we asked for it.  Instead of 3d pix we received the following lovely email that contained 7 lines and no 3D pictures (which was what the special coupon  was for in the first place):

I followed up with another request of 3d pix. Eventually, we received  a plain electronic sketch of our kitchen minus the one shelf unit that we discussed removing. The color of kitchen "to be" was white and the sketch contained ugly brown cabinets. That was the end of it and end of communication with the provider.

That was our first "online coupon/special" purchase Angie's List and to tell the truth, we were very discouraged to buy any more considering what we went through. We have had great success with receiving good recommendations via Angie's List phone service and will continue to choose providers only that way

I did not think the simple drawing he did was worth 50, much less the 500 'value'

Ultimately, he simply plugged our kitchen dimensions into a software package and tried to sell us on new cabinets.  We were looking more for someone to be innovative in discussing our kitchen remodel with us.

I would recommend he get more professional experience before offering his services.

I wasn't very satisfied. He wasn't very helpful with what I was trying to get done. I was under the impression that they were going to help pick what cabinets would be best for my home. He informed me that it was my choice. He also had trouble finding the house. We waited for a while and finally left because he didn't show up. He called us later on in the day to tell us that he was unable to find our home and didn't have our contact phone number on him. So do to that, we had to reschedule.

I had to contact Angie's List to even get this company to set up an appointment, which was not kept.  When he finally did come out, he had not even taken a measurement before announcing that this remodel was an $18,000 job, which was outrageous.  I received an e-mail of the designs, and they didn't include measurements of the kitchen counters and did not include the island.

The consultation was thorough; we spent 60-90 minutes discussing my objectives for the remodel and design preferences. I felt understood and was looking forward to refining the plans through the process. At the conclusion of the consultation I was told that the first round of design would be high-level, black and white, and after we discussed revisions and refined the plan, that the model would be provided with color and specifications. I was also told that they were extremely busy from the Angie's list offer. 
After receiving the first draft of the plan, I responded with questions and refinements. Responses were vague and no clarity was provided. The end result was a model for a kitchen that were not specific enough to provide clarity or direction for the remodeling project; the plans were vague and did not reflect the specifics of my design ideas.  
Although this offer seemed like a good value, it was a waste of $50.

took our information and then did a drawing that was not what we were looking for. we wanted 2 rooms combined to make kitchen larger and needed advise on how to accomplish, stuck to one room only and really did nothing to enhance layout with exception of the type of cabinets and features.
Wife turned process over to me and I have not really followed up since and wrote it off as a wrong fit. People were nice just did not get what we were looking for.

Mike came up with a great kitchen design and had some creative ideas I hadn't considered.  He was also very receptive to my ideas/changes.  My original plan was to make just a few changes to my kitchen.  It turned into a complete kitchen remodel - new cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc.  Mike and his team were very professional and thorough.  I didn't have a single concern during the entire process.    I love my new kitchen!

The experience was very nice and educational.  He took the time to not only listen to my needs and ideas but explained how some things could work and why others would not.  He then developed two different design for kitchen remodel options. One included a peninsula and the other was an island.  After taking measurements the designs were emailed to me and he followed up to ensure I received them.  Very pleasant experience.

I wanted cabinets done in the kitchen. I wanted him to bring his brochures and he seemed like he had a narrow selection. We never were able to get to pricing. He emailed me a sketch of the drawings. He did not seem very overly excited about doing work for me so I ultimately went with another company to do the kitchen work.

I was expecting a little bit more than what I got for my Big Deal with Home Touch Ups Custom Remodeling. I was hoping to get some good remodeling ideas for my kitchen. He was more into installing cabinets than he was on kitchen redesign. I did the work myself but I thought they might be able to give me some ideas that I hadn't thought of. He seems to competent in providing and installing cabinets and at lower prices than anyone else around. It more of selling cabinets than doing kitchen design. He was punctual and his prices were good.

It went great. Mike Dooper is professional and client oriented. He is a great listener as he works to include all desired details. He made suggestions, which were well thought-out and helpful. We found him honest and open to working with us as we constantly changed our minds. He helped us estimate the extend of work, timing and complexities.

We waited for him on the initial date we scheduled and he did not show up. He came a few weeks later and he said that we scheduled for that date and it must have been a mistake. He was very stern about the time and not as personable as he should have been. The entire service was very obnoxious as he thought he had the job the entire time and he was trying to push a certain time and he called over and over after this. I talked to him a couple of times and told him what they did with the drawing was not exactly what I wanted and I was going to go another route. He just tried to sell the entire time.

It went okay. He did a walk through and gave me some design pictures and an estimate of the project. The problem is that the estimate is not very detailed. It was just like numbers, there is no breakdown.
