It was great. I dropped it off. He fixed it and he returned it the next day.

Upon looking at the watch, he said it was a manufacturers defect. Suggested I take it back where I bought it six years ago and have them deal with the watchmaker.
They agreed to handle it, saving me several hundred dollars.

MJ Walsh made my day when on the spot he repaired the clasp of a bracelet and
loosened the holding clasp of a pair of earrings that were so tight that hurt the earlobe.
When I asked how much I owed for the great service - He said: Nothing!
MJ was very professional, caring and gracious in dealing with my needs. I appreciate

I had several watches that needed links removed and adjustments made to fit. Two of the watches were fixed while I waited. The other was completed within a day of dropping it off. Exceptional service! In addition, the owner, Michael is extremely personable and takes the time to explain how all of the work will be accomplished and within what time frame.
On another occasion, I brought in some old gold jewelry to sell. While I waited he examined it all, weighed it, separated it by carat and gave me a very reasonable offer. During the same visit I brought in 3 diamond rings; a wedding set and two other rings with a number of diamonds. They needed to be made larger and this was done in a couple of days at a very agreeable cost.
On a third visit, I brought in 4 quartz watches that needed batteries replaced. Again, Michael replaced them while I waited at a very good price.
The prices and times for services at Hilliard-Rome are extremely reasonable. I believe that the store sets the standard for a neighborhood business by being highly competitive and in line with or less than larger store or retail chain prices. In addition, it far exceeds larger store characteristics by adding a personal element that builds trust and makes it a pleasure to do business there. The store is easy to access, has plenty of parking and the service is exemplary. I would highly recommend this store for any jewelry-related services.

I've had several rings sized, and watch batteries replaced. The first rings were sized quickly and very inexpensively. The second time I left two rings to size, it took almost 6 weeks to get them back. That's WAY too long.

Repair went very well and took the amount of time estimated by the jeweler. I gave it to my wife on our 20th anniversary in November and about three weeks later the wedding ring broke in one spot. I took it back to the jeweler and they repaired it for free. He said the gold in the ring is old and brittle but this repair should hold for awhile. He said if it breaks again to bring it back and we could figure something out. If it breaks again I plan to have them build a new setting for the ring.

Ring looked as good as new.

Finding someone to work on the watch was a problem. The place that did the original adjustment kept the screws and later said they were returned to us. We tried at a shopping mall, but no one there could fix the band. Invicta charges $28 to even look at a watch plus shipping, and we just couldn't justify spending that much money for a simple repair.
We found Hilliard-Rome Jewelry repair on a Google ad. I emailed the shop about fixing the band and the owner responded promptly that he possibly had the screw for the band or could get it if he did not have it.
We took the watch into the shop and the owner was able to shorten the band to fit, so a screw was not needed. We then noticed that the watch was not working and had a battery installed.
We were very impressed with the shop and the owner, M.J. Walsh. He has extensive experience in jewelry and watch repair and is in business to service customers. Service was very professional and friendly...we had a nice chat about how he came to Columbus from the New Jersey area. We will definitely take any jewelry or watches that need repair there.
It was so nice to find a place that actually believes in helping customers solve a problem rather then just trying to sell something new.
