Five Star Store It

This was one of best experiences with any business we have ever had.  Seriously, who writes a review on a storage unit? However, the experience we had with Barb at Five Star Store It in Heath, was nothing short of spectacular.  Even though we only used the storage unit for maybe 4 months or so, we were so pleased, we had to take a few minutes and write a quick review.  We stored our car there for a few months (outdoor parking space) and rented a 10x20 storage unit.  We needed the extra space when we decided to put our home on the market.  It was very distressing trying to find a storage unit in which we could feel comfortable placing our valuable possessions.  Our biggest concern - the possibility of getting bed bugs from a neighboring unit.  When we drove by the location, there was absolutely nothing fancy about it.  However, after meeting Barb, and inspecting the unit, we were completely put at ease.  The 24 hour electronic gate worked flawlessly - check around, not all facilities in that area have this.  When we moved the stored boxes out of Five Star Store It, we carefully inspected each and every box we carried into our new home.  We are clean freaks, and VERY detail oriented, yet we didn't find a single bug!  I mean... not a single bug.  No bugs, no mice nests, and no bad smells.  The storage unit did exactly what we needed it to do.  Safe, dry, bug-free, smell-free storage.  My car was perfectly safe parked outside as well.  We parked it under a light just to be safe, but no problems at all.  I will say that I noticed one of the gutters around one of the units had collapsed one day when I was moving out, but I have not been back to check on it.  However, drainage at the facility is fantastic, so I seriously doubt any water got into any unit.  They keep the gravel around the units sloped pretty well, so water drains away nicely from the concrete pads.  There were crazy rains this past summer and our items stayed dry.

Now to the truly amazing part of our experience - Barb, the onsite manager.  From the first phone call to the day we moved out, she was the most professional, considerate, caring person I think we have ever encountered.  Many times I would call after hours, to either ask a question or make a payment, thinking I would get a machine, yet Barb would always pick up!  I would say something like, "I was calling to let you know we wanted to rent another month and pay for it, but since it's so late, I'll call back tomorrow afternoon".  She wouldn't let me hang up - she opened up the office, started the computer, and let me pay my bill right then!  Who goes out of their way like that?  Our move was very hectic and having Barb there to pick up and help us when we needed her, instead of having to call back, was a comfort only someone in the middle of a crazy move would truly appreciate.  Such professionalism is impossible to find these days.  I'm not exaggerating when I tell you my wife and I felt like we were dealing with an old friend instead of someone we just met.  I must have called 3 or 4 other storage facilities before settling on Five Star Store It and no one treated me like a friend.  I often got the answering machine and calls back from these other places were not quick if they called at all.  I moved my car one time because I had to get it out of storage for a quick trip, and when I called her to let her know I moved it, she instantly told me that she had noticed it and made a note of it.  She drives around that place checking on vehicles parked there and making sure all the units are locked up and safe.  The fact that she was keeping a close eye on my car and my locker, literally daily, made me feel wonderful.

So, that's my review of Five Star Store It.  I have to tell you, I already miss working with Barb.  If you are looking for a safe, bug-free, reasonably priced place to store you things, I would strongly recommend you giving Barb a call.  During a very trying, nerve-racking time in our lives, we felt as though she were an Angel sent by God to take away at least one of our worries.  I'm not exaggerating, I even told her that.  Thanks, Barb and Five Star!
