Rich Pratt, the owner was very responsive when I first requested a quote. He went over in detail what they could do and when the work would take place. The work was done in a very timely manner, all employees were respectful, and the yard work was excellent. I can honestly say that for the last year and a half my yard has not looked better! We highly recommend them.

2770.76Under the previous name of and quot;Blue Chip Lawn and Landscapingand quot; we hired the service provider to trim and prune our existing bushes and ornamental tree and provide maintenance on the existing landscape beds. Additionally we had Blue Chip design and provide plantings in two existing empty landscape beds.
After several phone calls, no-show appointments and and quot;losing our fileand quot; we finally met with Richard Pratt to discuss our yard.
Blue Chip did a very good job on the maintenance of the existing landscaping. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Blue Chip was, a maintenance company. The design aspect left a lot to be desired. The initial estimate on the first visit for the maintenance and the new beds was for $900 vs the $2800 final actual cost. The design of the new landscape beds was very mediocre but acceptable the first year (2012). This year as the plants matured everything is too big and overgrown for the space its in. We had to dig up and thin out a number of the plants as everything was growing together into one big mess (and that's after requesting a and quot;low maintenanceand quot; design).

I like the fact that they have a regular crew that comes by each time and they know exactly what I want done. and they do a great job of everything and they are very thorough.

It's an ongoing service; I've been using them for five years. They've been very responsive and meticulous. All of the guys that work for them do a great job. They're not cheap, but the quality of the work that they do is worth the money.

The sales person arrived as scheduled and emailed a proposal within a day or two. The proposal was higher than I would have preferred but seemed reasonable overall. (My yard is too much to weed and mulch on my own unless I want to hurt for for a week or two. So I accepted the proposal and scheduled the service.) I resisted paying 50% down; they agreed to no down payment on this first project. The crew arrived along with the estimator as expected. We reviewed the scope of work and they proceeded. The workers did an especially nice job of pruning and weeding. After removing debris and after mulching, there were some hardwood chips and small dirt clumps left throughout the yard, perhaps hidden by the long grass, but it's not a big deal. After experience with several landscapers over the years, I've concluded that nobody is perfect and initial impressions do not always hold true in the long run. I could rate Blue Chip an A or A- overall, but based on a one-day job with fairly routine service, let's call it a B+ for now. Let's see how they do in fall clean-up and perhaps some future projects.
Response from Tall Oaks Lawn & Landscaping, LLC
"I agree about the sales person. She no longer works for us. She just didn't get it. Since that time frame, you are now working directly with the owners. We are extremly qualified and educated in the landscape field."
