We used them to change the locks when we moved into our new home. We ended up using them again after that big deal.

Gary came and removed the lock and door handle which was broken on our front door. We had purchased the replacement door handle, with lock (Schlage, generally a reliable brand) from Lowe's which he inserted in the front and back doors. One day later, someone slammed the front door and we couldn't get the door open. Apparently something in the handle had slipped and disconnected the handle from the latch. We called Gary and he said that was not his fault. It was the manufacturer. He suggested that we return the door handle to the manufacturer. Fortunately, my father was here. He unscrewed the handle and that was enough to re-set the latch correctly. After it occurred several more times, I stuffed paper towel into the handle to prevent the latch from slipping. Now it doesn't seem to slip. I was disappointed that Gary wasn't willing to work this out with us--help us figure out the problem.

Ended up spending much more than the "Angie's List Special". Gary said it was some sorta of mix up in communication. However, Gary did an excellent job on installing a new lock on my back door.

Gary came and rekeyed some of our locks so that they accepted the same key. The locks/keys have worked fine ever since.

Door lock was loose and wouldn't work. Key would jam. And, the dead
bolt lock also was not working - the key would spin and not lock. The
dead bolt lock was repaired and the door lock replaced satisfactorily.

When I set up the appointment, I was told that he would arrive around Noon. On the day of the appointment, I received a call around 1:00 pm and he let me know at that time that he was running late and would be there in an hour. He arrived at 3:30 pm. He did not have a truck and arrived in a car. He did have on a black polo shirt with his company's name on it. Needless to say, I was not pleased with his punctuality, nor his appearance. He scratched up the lock on my front door and complained that the contractor did not install it properly. It took him over two hours to complete the task because he did not have his truck and the proper tools. While he was out in the car re-keying the locks, their car overheated and they asked for water to put into their car. I obliged them of course, however, this is not what I expect when a professional comes into your home to perform a service. Because he did not have the proper tools, I only received one set of keys. I also realized after he left, that he had installed the lock to my garage door on backwards. I fixed it myself instead of calling him back and being asked to pay the $35.00 drive charge. I paid for the service, however, I was not pleased with the overall service and certainly not pleased that this was offered as one of Angie's Deals.

"I called the memebr @ 12 to tell her that my service van still wasnt done at shop but I can use my back up vehicle that then started to overheat ( when it rains it pours) I made it there around 1:30 - 2:00 but i made it I did have everthing with me to do job Just not key machine but I had premade keys sets of 2 but maybe I only had 1 If so IM sorry my full size 2005 chevy cargo van is fixed took the shop longer then expected and after the 1st job with it made me glade it was back about the scratch lock and a lock install wrong all you had to do point it out when we tried out the key after I was done. The services were exactly as discussed. Gary called to let us know he was on his way. He arrived right on time, and with the necessary tools and supplies. The deadbolt needed to be replaced, so it was the higher estimate of the two discussed because of the price of a new deadbolt. He was able to do the work in less than 30 minutes. A few things to note: Gary came in a regular car, and had a lady friend with him that waited in the car. He did have professional attire and disposition though. I only say this because I guess I was expecting a work van, a uniform and for him to be alone or with a partner. One thing I didn't expect was the trip charge, but maybe I should've expected one. Nonetheless, he did a great job and I would use him again.

"Thank you for the report. I just wanted to add that the only reason I had a car and a girl with me was because my van is down and I had to use her car and she had to come with me so I could use her car and still be able to service my customers. I am sorry that happened and I am working on getting van back up and running. Thank you for calling me and I hope that you will call again."

Gary arrived as expected, did what was expected, made a couple extra keys for free and explained what he did and showed which keys worked on which locks. Can't expect much more. Will use him again as needed.

I had no key for my front door. Gary had to install a new tumbler since my house/lock was so old he was unable to just re-key it. The new one was shiny, which stands out on my old house, but he left the old tumbler with me and gave me a reference for the one guy left in the area that he knows does work on old locks.
He also re-keyed my back door handle lock, and noticed that it wasn't catching anything on the old and damaged frame. He was able to fix this by resecuring the latch plate with deeper screws.
Gary moves very quickly and is very to the point, but he does so professionally and not rudely. He is very easy to work with and I would recommend him.

The work itself was okay. The overall interaction with him needed some work. He brought his girlfriend to the job with him. He called me constantly to give me updates of his status. He charged me more than what I had thought it would cost originally. There were issues with the payment process as well.
Response from Gary's Locks LLC
"I was running late that day due to a van problem. A friend of mine said she could drive me to the job. I just wanted to keep my customer updated. I am sorry if I called too much, I just hate to be late. The price difference was because he had more locks and two without keys working which is usually $10 each but I only charged him $5 each and I gave him 4 keys free. 99.9% of the time I have no problems with customers. I am sorry he wasn't happy but look at all my other reports. Due to van problem, I could have just been stressed and not as friendly as I usually am. If he needs anything else I will knock off the trip charge if he calls back within 90 days. Thank you"

He did the work as proposed; we chose him from several other competitors based on his AL rating; all the bids were similarly priced. Gary gave us an AL discount. He was able to schedule the work quickly - no long wait for service - and worked efficiently and quickly. We've referred him to others and would use him again.

I called to have the locks in my newly purchased home rekeyed and keyed to use the same key instead of 4 different keys. They were great with communication from the time I called for service to the time he showed up. He showed up exactly on time with all of the proper tools. He was friendly and even gave me advice on how to adjust the latches on the door jams so that the doors wouldn't be so difficult to open/shut w/ the key. At the end he gave me two keys and they were perfectly.

We recently moved into a new house. Each of the three outside doors had two locking mechanisms, and each mechanism required the use of a different key. We were never even given either of the keys to the front door! Gary came out, and quickly re-keyed the locks so that they all worked with the same key. Only one mechanism needed to be replaced; Gary showed me the door handle and how it was broken inside, and recommended that it be replaced. He gave us two copies of the key, and they both work very smoothly.

They were okay. I got them off of Angie's List. They looked good to me. I did not shop around. I needed the locks fixed quickly. They weren't perfect, as we have a few issues with the new locks. We were satisfied with the work but they could have done a little bit better. They were punctual and came when they said.

He arrived on time and worked as though he was in a hurry. He replaced the locks, but left our door handle loose. His manner was abrupt (and not in a "no-nonsense efficiency" way). Perhaps he was just having a bad day, but we will look for another locksmith if we need one again.
