Dalton Sealing & Paving

Worked with Dan White of Dalton on a complicated new long extension of our driveway with a large parking pad at the end. He was a pleasure to work with - he shared his significant experience and helped us consider all the alternatives and options. We contated them very close to the end of the asphalt season, and they were able to fit us into the schedule and get it done before the factories shut down. Their pricing seemed resonable and there were no hidden surprises. Communication was excellent. They did a great job.

I hired Dalton to replace my asphalt driveway. When they regraded the driveway, ALL the water flowed right to a door in to our basement. This has caused water damage to our home. I called Dalton numerous times, I sent emails, I even offered to pay to have this corrected, but I was never able to get a response. It is now going to cost me more than the original project to have this fixed.

It seemed to go well, at first. Dalton Sealing & Paving removed the original asphalt driveway at my house that was failing and replaced it with a compacted aggregate base and new asphalt driveway on October 13, 2017. I was not able to be home while they did the install, but my father-in-law stopped by while they were doing the work. They were supposed to but six inches of compacted aggregate base down before the asphalt, but he found that they had placed four inches of base with six inches at the sides. That was supposedly fixed, but I can't be sure if it was. The driveway looked good at first, but the surface of the asphalt looked a little too coarse like it had not been compacted properly. In July of 2018 I noticed that the driveway was settling in the areas that we pull our cars into the garage. We had a hard time getting in touch with Dalton Sealing & Paving, but Mr. Dalton did come out to take a look at the driveway on September 18, 2018. He proposed heatwelding patches in the areas that were settling and said he would be back in touch with us. It is now November 20, 2018 and nobody from Dalton Sealing & Paving has been in touch with us since Mr. Dalton stopped by. I contacted them during the one year warranty on the driveway and showed them where it was failing already. They proposed a patch job and never got back in touch with me. I would now like the driveway replaced and compacted properly like it should have to begin with.

Dalton is is very responsive. We were always able to directly contact someone to get information and ask questions. Work was started when it was scheduled to, and was completed quickly. Quality was good and they left the surrounding area (grass, landscaping, walkways) clean and in good shape.

Dalton Sealing and Paving removed the existing asphalt driveway at our home and replaced it in the same day. The finished asphalt driveway looks great.

I would never recommend them to my best friend. 

I don't think the prices was too bad. 

First of all they, there wasn't, the cut in the sidewalk and the driveway was messed up, we had crooked cuts and it's just a bad job, they had to redo it.

Two men, who performed the task, were great. Blew off driveway, edged and sealed driveway. Excellent work, and very pleased with results. Would not hesitate to rehire again.

Scheduling was challenging: Was initially told I would be able to schedule far enough in advance to get my schedule situated for work, but when it came down to it, had only a 24 hour notice... was told that was as good as it will get.

Did not install the next day as scheduled (stated the ground was too wet), but did show the day after (had to call several times to see what the status was since I hadn't heard from them - they did not proactively called me to let me know the plan had changed)
 Did great job with the install, they clearly have great expertise with this part of the process - could not have hoped for a better looking driveway
Payment: to my complete astonishment, they DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARD payments! (!?!?!) ... I haven't written a check in 10 years, and didn't even think to ask originally if they took credit card payments... I mean.. in this day and age?!? for work that probably always goes to the hundreds if not thousands of dollars?! You've got to be kidding me! So I'm digging though old storage boxes hoping to find that original pack of checks that I got when I opened my last checking account almost 7 years ago. It's very fortunate for me that I do have the cash, someone that does not have it would be up the creek.
So..
the positives:
1) GREAT looking driveway install, professionally done, left no mess behind.
2) Best price of 3 estimates I received
Negatives:
1) You'll have to be the one to reach out to them if they change their schedule
2) They do not take credit card payments
*addendum... was advised afterwards that they actually CAN take a credit card payment, for an extra $52.50 (3% fee)
Summary: Great work, and worth the quirks if  a) you plan to pay by check from the start and b) you are flexible and don't really need to know if the schedule changes (without calling them first).

The driveway looked great immediately after it was completed but within weeks, there were significant cracks and crumbling. It was supposedly repaired but only about 1/2 of the cracks were repaired. Less than 1 year later, the cracks reappeared and more developed. I called to have them repair and seal it, signed a contract and they never showed up or called. This spring they called about setting an appointment to seal the drive based on the contract from last year. I told them I was unhappy with the lack of follow through and had intended not to use them for sealing. When the cracks began to multiply and get deeper and we developed a sink hole at the end of the drive, I called them to come repair it. I was told they would come out but have not heard from them since and they are not returning our calls. I would not ever recommend them.
