Mark was very professional and knowledgeable. He did a fantastic job with my piano from the 1940's, which hadn't been tuned in years. I will definitely hire Mark again for future tunings.

Mark was very professional and informative. The piano hadn't been tuned and rarely used for the past 30 years so the job was significant. I didn't get estimates so have nothing to compare with his fees. The piano sounds great!

Went well...Mark spent nearly 3 hours working on the piano. got it in as good of shape as could be expected, given its age and quality.

He was there for about 2 hours and did a very complete job. The only complaint I have is that I was given a quote of approximately $150 and it ended up being over $200. Luckily I was able to pay the whole amount.

The piano tuner arrived on time and performed the piano tuner. We understood that it would cost us $100.00 but ended up costing $250.00. I was totally caught off guard and was not told about the extra costs.
Response from MARK A ROTH PIANO SERVICES
"This situation is regrettable. I must say I was totally caught off guard by this situation as well. Where the customer got the $100 figure from I have no idea. I did not tell them it would be $100. I never would have quoted $100 because I don't perform any services that cost $100. I have standard rates for services which I happily quote customers when they ask. I've never in two decades had a customer who instead of asking the price just assumed they knew what my prices would be and then objected when they found out what they actually were, after the job was complete. I even pointed out the issue with the hammers and said that I would address it and no concern about price was indicated at that time nor was I asked how much it might cost to address that issue. My prices are not a secret and if you are concerned about cost then PLEASE ASK!! I can't imagine hiring a plumber or electrician, not finding out what their rates are, having them out to complete work and then telling them "I just assumed it would cost x" and then go write a bad Angie's List review based on that. Seems totally unfair. For the record the charges amounted to $232. The $249 figure includes sales tax which I do not pocket. They break down as follows: Full-scale tuning with pitch correction (piano untuned for many years) Rough tuning $68 Fine tuning $128 Address hammer let off issues $36 Time spent approximately 2.5 hours. 45 minutes drive time, 33 miles round trip."

It was easy to schedule a tuning, and Mark arrived exactly as scheduled. He was very professional and pleasant. His expertise was very apparent; he really knows pianos from the ground up. Our piano sounded much better afterwards. I definitely recommend this service.

It was a fine experience. Mark was professional, friendly, and very thorough. He spent 3 hours doing a full scale tuning and second tuning raising the pitch to A= 440. Answered all my questions and was very helpful. I recommend him highly.

Mark has tuned my piano at least 3 times. He is always prompt if not a little early for the appointments. He gets right to work without a lot of wasted time chit-chatting. The process can take 1.5 - 2 hours depending on the piano. He has been honest with me about the condition and value of my piano. He also recommended a piano re-finisher that did a great job on it.
