Herlihy Moving & Storage Inc

I used Herlihy moving as recommended by my employer when I changed jobs. I moved, unfortunately, during a very hot real estate market in Columbus so while I was able to sell my place quickly I ran into trouble finding a new home. I hired them for full packing, move, storage for 9 months, and then move to new home. For the full packing they had a very efficient team come in and pack up all my belongings within a day. The following day they moved my items out of my condo and I was incredibly impressed with the team! My condo building has very strict rules and they are very particular about movers and how things are handled and if things are not done correctly they will fine the owner- so when they told me that these were the best movers they have ever had in the building- that is saying something! They even took their information to pass out to other owners who might be selling or moving in. Aaron and his crew took such great care of my items and when we parted I did not have an idea of when I would find a new home but Aaron told me that he would look out for my final move so he could be part of the team. A long 9 months went by and when I contacted Herlihy for a date to move my stuff into my new house- imagine my pleasant surprise to find out that Aaron kept his promise and was in charge of my move back in! He showed up ahead of schedule and his team stayed well into the evening making sure everythng was done the way I wanted. I had only one item that had minor damage (which the movers pointed out to me) and Aaron got the claim started for me right away and took photos himself. From the initial estimator who came by (kind, professional, and very quick to respond) to the packers and to the movers- I could not have been more impressed. I strongly strongly recommend these movers to everyone. If I ever move again I will be asking for Herlihy and hoping Aaron will be the head of my team again!

If you are looking for a poorly run company, you have found it with this mover. Their sales force must be on commission. Don't believe what you are told because there is no internal communication within this company. They showed up at my house not even knowing the extent of what needed to be moved, and therefore did not arrive with the equipment they needed. And had the wrong arrival / unload date. I had to manage the move for them. They had to repair my house in two locations just getting my belongings on the truck after they got the needed equipment delivered to pack me up. And they did not effectively coordinate unloading labor at the arrival destination to get me unloaded. And they are now making excuses regarding finishing the move up and asking me to show them documentation of my verbal directions to them, and this request is coming from the company's president. Don't do business with this company!!!! Life is complicated enough without having to deal with incompetent management at a moving company. To add insult to injury, they damaged a lot of my belongings in the process.

They came exactly when they said they would. Everything was moved fast and efficiently. Nothing was damaged. Greatto work with.

Went quite well. The two fellows who did the heavy work were extremely courteous and careful. One of the pieces weighed a ton (well, maybe not quite a tone), but it was solid oak and quite heavy. Both pieces were handled with care and made it into my house with not a scratch.

It went very smoothly, within the time frame allotted, and we were charged slightly less than the amount quoted.

Everything went according to plan. I moved from Columbus Oh to Palm Spribgs,CA. I had rescue arched on-line and found people who hired companies and had terrible experiences. This was truly not the case with Herlihy-Mayflower. Everything that was promised -happened. They provided me all boxes and packing tape. They arrived on time on the promised day. There were three guys to put every thing on the truck. They were professional and cared for my items. Tabitha from service checked in many times for updates. The furniture arrive as promised. There was not one item missing or damaged. I couldn't recommend anyone for a better experience.

Everything went well. Brandon came out and gave an estimate, which we felt the most comfortable with since we got estimates from four companies in total. I liked that once we booked our move Tabitha contacted me and stated she was our move coordinator. It made it much easier to call and talk to her each time rather than talking to a different person every time I had questions. The driver, Chris, could not have done a better job. Overall, we were very happy with the experience.

Everything went perfectly from start to finish. The estimator was prompt and efficient. The information and scheduling process was quick and easy. The day of the packing the packers called and kept us up to date on their arrival time. When they arrivied, they worked quickly and were finished in less time the estimated. they were courteous and professional. Everything was packed and unloaded without a single item damaged. The were able to complete the packing and loading of the truck ahead of schedule and allowed us to leave for Columbus a day early. When it came time to unload, they were fast and efficient and they were able to unload and unpack in the same day. Again, the movers were profesional, courteous and did an excellant job, and again, nothing was damaged.

They did the estimate. At first I received one on-line and then talked to them on the phone. They were very efficient and went out of the way for me. I was moving from an apartment to a condo. I had something to pick up from a friend's house nearby. They did that for me with no additional charge. The price was very reasonable. I was a single mom and I didn't know if I was going to get a mover or find friends to do it. They moved the larger things for me and I took care of the smaller boxes. My children were 14 and 10 at the time.

They were great to work with overall! They were very patient and everything went very well overall. It was very easy to contact them and everything was in good shape; nothing was missing or broken.

The story began on a positive note. Brandon toured our home to give us an estimate of the costs to pack the remaining items, unload the PODS storage unit, and transport our goods to Tampa, Florida. We had packed a majority of our home. He was very personable and professional. He worked to accommodate our pickup and delivery scheduling issues, and advised us of the "schemes" to avoid. The packers arrived early on the scheduled date. They were professional and outgoing. They didn't complete all of the packing (I.e. Televisions, DVD players, etc.) so that we could use them one last night. We didn't disagree since they said they would be returning the very next day to complete the packing and load the truck. However, that wasn't the case. The next morning, the moving van pulled up at our home bright and early! However, a totally different crew arrived! When they entered our home and my husband and I greeted them, they explained that they had been reassigned to our project. We explained what the crew had completed the day before, and the items remaining that needed to be packed. We were then informed that they had been told they would only be loading the truck. Needless to say they weren't pleased when we explained what the prior day's crew had stated. So, they began tagging items with inventory numbers and loading the truck. We pointed out the items that still needed to be packed, and they said they would take care of it. It wasn't until a third crew arrived in Tampa to unload our items that the issues began. Two of our flat screen televisions were not properly packed in protective wrap and boxes! Instead, they were covered with a blanket and sat in the truck for transport! The framed pieces of artwork that were to be placed in framed boxes were stacked and covered with a blanket and placed in the truck for transport. One of the pieces was an original painting by my husband's deceased mother! Another piece was broken, as it wasn't placed in a box! At least 1/4th of the boxes and items were missing inventory stickers, so it took twice as long to check in the items! To top things off, a tote containing all of the BRAND new tops I'd purchased for our move to Tampa and a large box of NEW jeans vanished! We've searched each of our storage units and they are no where to be found! I contacted Brandon to discuss our dissatisfaction. He was very apologetic and promised to have the owner contact me. The owner, James, did contact me and we conversed on a few different dates. My primary complaint was the fact that we paid EXTRA for the supplies and labor for our belongings to be packed. This portion of our agreement was breached by his staff, and I believe we are entitled to a reimbursement of those funds. The last time I spoke with the owner, James, was Friday, May 11th. He said he would have our move coordinator, Tammi, email me a claim form and would call to discuss the issue on Monday, May 14th. I have not heard from James again as of May 16th! Note that we did receive quotes that were more than $1500 less than what we paid to Herlihy Mayflower. However, we did not want to risk being preyed upon by some fly by night moving company. I do want to commend Brandon, Tammi, and the drivers/crew who transported our goods and unloaded the truck. They were professional and very customer service oriented! My disappointment isn't over the missing tote and box, as the insurance will replace them. I am irritated that we paid for supplies and labor and were not compensated for the failure to deliver these services!

They did a fine job. I was pretty satisfied with them. I will use them in the future when I need them.

Great experience on both ends of our move.

Everything went smoothly. They packed on a Monday and delivered on a Tuesday. The original truck was not big enough, but they quickly got a second one to load the rest of the stuff. They did not damage either house during the move. There were minor dings on one dresser. Otherwise, all items made it unscathed. Appropriate professional behavior. The estimate was provided quickly, and there were timely responses to my questions via email from James, even on the weekend. Their estimate for a fixed price quote was the highest of 3, but they provided some discounts in order to come down close to competitor quotes and be hired for the job. No one asked for a tip, but I did provide one for doing a good job and moving that extra furniture to the basement.

They were pretty good. We would recommend them.

They were on time, did a good job, delivered on time and unpacked nicely.

Poor planning, poor execution, unprofessional, lots of damage, we had insurance, but they paid only a small amount of damages. Insulting to me over the damage - told me my furniture was "junk".

Excellent job. 5 guys all seemed to work hard for most of the day. 1 item was broken but repaired within a few days and returned looking like new. Estimator and movers both arrived on time. Under no circumstances could one ask for a more professional job by a better group of gentlemen.

I was originally dissatisfied with Herlihy's performance because of their unresponsiveness to a damage complaint. Once they did eventually contact me, however the complaint was resolved to my satisfaction and very quickly. I would probably recommend this company.
