I realized that I needed to call a professional trainer finally.
We met Chuck first at his training center and then at our home in which he brought a guest and we invited guests also.. Some people our dog knew and some she didn't, and he went over all of the corrections we need to address and positive rewarding to give to our dog when she behaves calmly. Now this may be different in each dog depending on their issues and so I won't go on to tell all those details but one of our guest brought their dog and he helped us learn the appropriate way to introduce them to play and so after all this was done we had alot of new people over for a cookout on Memorial Day, including one person our dog has never taken to and has snapped several times in past at him and I am here to say all of Chucks advise worked as we had her out the whole day in the yard with everyone and she even had a dog friend over for the day to play with as I think that was our entertainment as everyone couldn't believe how she was so happy and played and could not care about anyone.
One thing I have learned is PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON A DOG CALL CHUCK FIRST!!!!!
We have learned this is a work in progress and all of her fears will not just completely go away but we now have the tools to handle alot of situations and we understand sometimes it's the people whom need corrections and guests also need to be told of your expectations of them with your dog as they are a guest in our home and our dogs home and once that happens you'll have happy people, happy dogs, and happy times to come.
Also pack walks are highly recommended as her fear one day will be gone on those also as she gets used to those too.
Thanks Chuck
Chuck and the rest of his staff work with any type of dog out there, but they have a lot of experience with bully breeds. Chuck also works with dogs who have been through some rough times. He is our own local dog whisperer, and in fact has spent time with Cesar Milan! I have heard some grumbles in the community that Chuck's ways are harsh - that treat-based reward training is the way to go, and this methods (and those of Milan) are out-dated and wrong. In my opinion, this couldn't be further from the truth. This man is a commanding, yet gentle force with a dog. He knows his stuff.
To address one of the reviewers about adoptable dogs. Chuck works with Rowdy to the Rescue. I understand the reviewer's feelings, but here's the flip-side... If there are any "vibes" felt by Chuck or the staff (right or wrong), they will not adopt out a dog. And, that's their right. Whether it's on their paperwork or not, it sounds like they didn't like the idea of placing this dog in a home with an unaltered male. I respect that.
