the workers were all real friendly, including the owner, Dave Groover
They scheduled a visit and I did not have to be here. I received a quote quickly. I received a followup call and another one once I accepted the quote. We went through all the details and made me feel 100% confident.
The crew showed up on time. If you've ever used Groover, you'll know they show up in clean, matching trucks, and in similar uniforms. They look good and it shows pride and team work.
As for the workmanship, they were meticulous, professional, and they took their time to do it right. They cared more about doing a good job than rushing through the job. Interesting dynamics of the team that showed up...they coached each other, helped each other out, and made sure everyone was doing it the best way and the same way. There's a difference in their type of teamwork that you feel when they are crawling all over your house. It feels like everyone is on the same page.
When I was getting quotes, I did not realize how many different ways siding and window trimming could be done. From materials to how it hangs, to workmanship. The value that this company offers is hard to beat, I've never had this quality of work performed at my house before. It was only through watching them do the windows that I realized how anyone could have cut time and cost, but neighbors and friends look at my house and consistently tell me how good the work looks. How "stunning" the windows look. They are cased out impeccably. Not a ding or a crease or a scratch in any of the metal work.
Many times I feel like reviews talk about whether a job went as quoted or as expected. Hiring Groover is a completely different experience, it was all about well these guys are trained and their workmanship. I am so glad I went with them, so glad.
**UPDATE 10-3-2013**
Had a problem with bats re-entering the dormers after the work was complete. I called the office and spoke to someone and she told me I had to get an exterminator and then call back when the bats were gone. Lucky I called back and spoke to Brian Groover and he immediately sent a crew out to fix it. So in the end, yeah they stood by their work (the crew that found where the bats had snuck in, found and fixed the problem), but that first phone call to let them know there was a problem...that was not a pleasant experience. I reduced the "professionalism" score to B because of this, not the onsite crew (which would get an A).
while they were at it i had them replace my spouting. they screwed up the one stipulation i had--that i expressed to four different people--and they had to redo it.. the guys doing the work acted like i was trespassing on their property. after all was said and done, the job was completed satisfactorily, i guess, but i imagine i could have had it done with less stress by someone else.
"We apologize for the length of time taken to actually begin work for this customer and for any stress caused for a new roof paid for by their insurance carrier. The customer first made contact with us for a new roof estimate on Sunday October 23, and also stated some shingles had been blown off the roof and were in the yard. Within two days we inspected the roof and determined the shingle blow off was damage caused as a result of a recent storm, we advised the homeowner to contact their insurance company and file an insurance claim for storm damages. Dealing with insurance companies is not always a fast and easy process and sometimes takes more time than we like. The added winter weather delays also contributed to the extended time frame. Below is a list of events as they occurred: • October 23 - Customer contacts us via email on Sunday, citing blown off shingles. • October 25 - Roof is inspected and find damage is the result of heavy winds. • October 26 - Advised customer to contact their insurance company and have insurance adjuster inspect damage • November 1 - Protective tarp is secured to roof to prevent interior water damage. • November 1 - Estimate for new roof submitted to home owner based on insurance coverage. • November 16 - First insurance company report received by homeowner, does not cover all damages caused by storm. • November - January - Numerous back and forth communications by us with insurance company concerning covering all damages. Time period was extended by winter weather delays. • January 27 - Homeowner signs contract for work to be done per insurance settlement. • March 1 - Final agreement with insurance company on extent of damages. • March 9 - New roof installed on house. Again, it was unfortunate this process took more time than the customer expected. We have no control over winter delays and insurance company red tape. What was fortunate for the customer is what started as a repair for a damaged roof ended with an entire complete new roof, with warranty, with no out of pocket money by the customer; the roof was paid for by their insurance company."
