First thing my sister-in-law noticed was that Mike's nephew did most of the wallpaper work and Mike seemed to be in a supervisory mode. I understand that his nephew did a good job on the wallpaper, too. Not sure about Mike's work as no one witnessed it. When the job was finished a complaint was made that the job "looked sloppy" and needed to be redone in several areas. Mike proceeded to tell my brother-in-law and sister-in-law how "experienced he was as a painter" and that the "house was too dark" (house was empty but had electricity on and since when does the client have to ensure there is enough lighting for any painter?); that the ceiling area in the bathroom which looked bad had a large repair (it did not have ANY repairs); that "if I had known you were going to sell it I would have bought better paint" (the problem with that excuse is that he was informed that the house would be sold, but more importantly, WE BOUGHT ALL THE PAINT from the start and it was SHERWIN-WILLIAMS. The job was so bad that photos taken with my wife's cell phone showed streaks, missed spots and runs in the paint. One excuse after another and because of the distance and his incessant whining about being paid rather than doing a good job, he was paid in full and told that I would be reviewing his work on Angie's List. Most upsetting is that a large amount of it will have to be redone. If you like varied and colorful excuses MIKE REASON is the painter you should hire. If you want the paint applied properly and looking good when finished do yourself a favor and seek out a REAL painter in the Centerville-Kettering-Dayton area because MIKE REASON is not the guy. Should have known that when I finally saw his business card and noticed that it did not even mention "painting" on it. I am sure that when he replies to this review he will blame everyone else and take none of the responsibility for the poor workmanship and the failure to get it right.
Description of Work: Needed help (we are in SC and house is in OH) to get the old wallpaper off some rooms in my wife and her sister's house where their mother had lived until she went into a care facility. Mike charged $900 to do the wallpaper removal job and then bid to paint the entire interior with a "primer coat of Kilz and one coat of paint" at $3000. Brother-in-law, who lives locally, did some painting because the carpet was being installed, so Mike reduced his bid to $2800.
