They seemed to have done a good job. He seemed to be very thorough. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. As we watched them doing it, he seemed to follow up to everything that he said and it looked like it was going to be an effective job.

I went with Eugene because he was the plumber contracted by the previous owner five years ago to replace the original waste water line(s) from the house to the city T (connection) at the sidewalk. Unfortunately he could not remember nor easily find the notes on which lines he replaced (sanitation, sewer or both). He's older and he's old school. No fancy camera to peek in the pipes. And honestly, the man has so much experience that he can assess the situation reliably through feel and experience.
He was incredibly difficult to schedule. He kept delaying, postponing because I wasn't a critical case (no pipes bursting for example) as I wanted to understand why our basement kept getting some minor flooding. But he finally did come after I bugged him a lot & often. He seemed to be humored by the attention, thank goodness and didn't tell me to bugger off.
But he came with another guy and they went around the house, opening downspouts and flushing them out with high pressure. He removed a lot of smelly gross slimy debris from the driveway drain, which had been always slow to drain & I thought it might be broken or the cause of the basement water. That now drains fine.
He used a cutter to clear the main lines from the house to the sidewalk, although he said they were in general in good shape (not too many tree roots & debris). Unlike other plumbers, he wasn't afraid to take the cutter past the T connection to the city side of the pipe to keep clearing out the pipe. That's when he told me that there was "big clog" in the middle of the street and that I should demand a camera verification when the city comes to clear their side. He was adamant that my side was all good and "not to let the City tell you otherwise". He said all this in an empowering way as he knew the basement had gotten wet multiple times, not in a defensive way. I called the city to tell them to come clear the lines and they did but no camera.
And sure enough, we had a massive 100 yr flood in the area and my basement got wet again. So I called the city again and it took them two more times and finally i got camera verification. I haven't had a problem since. Eugene's the best.

Both jobs went well. He had to dig up part of the driveway for each job, and he filled each excavation with a beautiful concrete fill that, now almost a year later, looks better than new. We had our basement waterproofed in 1995, with a sump pump, and we had started to get water again around 2000-2001. The sump pump was working fine, so we almost spend 9,000 for a new waterproofing job. But before signing that contract, I called Mr. DiMichele. He diagnosed the drain problem quickly -- the sump pump was pushing water out to the storm drain but was recirculating back toward to the house because of the collapse by the street. The good news -- when University Heights was hit by a huge storm last month and many basements flooded, ours was bone dry. Definitely recommend his work.

I was impressed, these guys know what they are doing. If you are getting water in your basement, this is the crew to hire.

This contractor, and his team, are outstanding in their quality of work and professionalism.
They are fast, efficient and thorough.
Cleanup extended beyond expectations. They even re-assembled my garden bed and surrounding flagstone walls!
Their price was in line with the other estimates we received.
Highly recommend.

First-class job from beginning to end. Eugene and his co-worker used protective plywood tracks to prevent any damage from their small-scale ditch-digger to our recently laid concrete driveway Hand-dug all of our landscaping within 4-5 feet of the house, then deep-dug with ditch-digger to get to base of foundation. Completely waterproofed exterior foundation, cured, then replaced all excavated dirt and replanted all landscaping. Basement has been dry as a bone ever since. No musty smell, and absolutely no moisture evident anywhere. Eugene and his co-worker were gracious, professional and timely. They kept us informed as the work progressed and finished on schedule.

His work is excellent, and the price is very fair. He was always clear, courteous, and responsive. Our basement went from leaky and smelly to permanently dry.

The front was a mess for 3 weeks while they worked, however they put everything back and were careful to not damage nearby plantings. They also cleaned up the area. Overall the job went well. Once they got down to the foundation they were able to a**** everything and make suggestions as to what additional work needed to be done. They had to cut some of the concrete driveway but were able to replace it with new concrete when finished. They also were able to replace some brick on our back patio after cutting through it. Window wells were left in tact and new limestone was put in place to replace a cracked piece. We asked them to do additional work on the foundation and they agreed to stay longer and complete the job. The cost was a bit high, but was well worth the expense. We were very happy with the results. Most importantly we felt confident that we were getting the job done right with no shortcuts.

I think they did a good job. It's been a week, but it looks okay so far. They were very neat and timely. They cleaned up afterwards very well.

The crew was on time each morning, very polite, very neat (cleaned up each day), informed me of progress and problems as they arose. Eugene is a nice person to work with. The job was performed over a year ago and so far (I'm knocking on wood as I type this) we've had no more water in the basement. Price was very good relative to competition. The downside - prior to the job starting, Eugene was very difficult to reach (the lower price is probably due to lack of administrative staff). I left several messages before getting him to call back and commit to a start date. I do think it was worth it to wait. Once the job started, he was very responsive.

THEY WERE CAREFUL WITH OUR PLANTS. THE BASEMENT WAS DRY IN MANY PLACES IT HAD BEEN WET BEFORE, BUT NOT EVERYWHERE. OUR CEILING AND WALLS GOT WET IN ONE PLACE. HE SAID THAT IT WAS DUE TO OUR FRONT DOOR STOOP, (NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY) WHICH HE RE-DID, AND THEN THE NEXT DAY OUR BASEMENT FLOOR WAS FLOODED. IT IS DIFFICULT TO ''PROVE'' THAT WHAT HE DID CAUSED THE FLOODING--HE SAYS IT DIDN'T. HOWEVER, WE HAD NOT HAD ANY WATER OF THAT KIND UNTIL THE DAY AFTER HE CAME. HE DID SAY HE RAN HIGH PRESSURE WATER THROUGH OUR PIPES, SO WE THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. LIKE ANOTHER PERSON SAID, HE DID NOT SEE THIS AS HIS PROBLEM. WE WITHHELD WHAT IT COST TO HAVE OUR BASEMENT CARPET CLEANED, ETC... I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM. THE WORST PART IS NOW WORRYING AGAIN ABOUT A WET BASEMENT.

I PAID HIM A LOT OF MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT DIDN'T WORK. AFTER HE DID THE JOB, I STILL HAD WATER PROBLEMS. YOU COULD ACTUALLY SEE WATER COMING IN ALONG THE BASE OF THE WALLS IN THE BASEMENT. I HAD TO GO THROUGH A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TROUBLE AND USE THE LEVERAGE OF THE CITY OF CLEVELAND JUST TO GET HIM TO COME BACK OUT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO CONSISTENTLY USE THE CITY TO GET HIM TO TRY AND MAKE GOOD ON THE WORK. HE DID COME OUT BETWEEN OTHER JOBS, BUT HE MADE ME LIVE WITH A DUG UP YARD ALL SUMMER, IT WAS TERRIBLE. HE SAID THAT HE HAS COME BACK MORE THAN ENOUGH TIMES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT THE WORK IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 5 YEAR WARRANTY (WHEN MOST ARE FOR LIFE), SO HE SHOULD COME BACK IF I HAVE MORE PROBLEMS. I'M WORRIED THAT THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT RESOLVED AND THAT HE WILL NOT HONOR HIS WARRANTY. WHILE DOING THE WORK, HE ALSO CRACKED THE SIDEWALK AND DRIVEWAY WITH HIS EQUIPMENT, SO I HAD TO REPLACE MY SIDEWALK AND PART OF MY NEIGHBOR'S.

A WORD OF ADVISE, YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH HIM. IT TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET HIS ESTIMATE AND THE WORK WAS SCHEDULED A FEW MONTHS OUT. ONCE YOUR JOB IS STARTED YOU ARE GIVEN HIS FULL ATTENTION. HE'S NOT WORKING ON 4 OR 5 OTHER JOBS AT THE SAME TIME. HE'S POLITE AND TRUSTWORTHY, OVERSEES HIS CREW AND DID A VERY GOOD JOB. HIS INVOICE IS VERY DETAILED. THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT!
