On July 8, 2010 I called to report the broken liner and asked him to order me a replacement. I gave him the model and serial number of my stove, and detailed exactly which liner I needed along with its dimensions. He indicated he would get a replacement for me. On August 3, not having heard from him, I called back and the dealer said the liner brick was on its way. On September 3 I called again (not having heard from him) and left a detailed message asking what was going on and please call me back. His answering machine indicated he and his staff were at the Geauga County Fair and would return on Sept. 7. Didn't return my call - again. On September 21 I called again and he indicated he was no longer a dealer for my stove, but would pursue getting the firebrick for me anyway. I asked him to call me back to confirm if/when the liner brick was on its way, and when it would arrive. I'm writing this on October 3 - he never returned my call. At this point I pursued obtaining the liner from another dealer, whose recommendation was that he would operate the stove with the cracked liner but use stove cement to patch the crack. Would've saved me a lot of time and aggravation if my original dealer had given me this advice.
Description of Work: I bought a wood-burning stove from Hearth & Home in September, 2007. This past year after having my chimney cleaned I noticed one of the soapstone brick liners inside the stove was cracked. Hearth and Home ultimately was unable to replace the liner for me, and my experience with him was quite frustrating and wasted 3 months' time as we're approaching the heating season.
